G’day there if you are reading this I presume you have some ideas you would like to put forward to Turn 10 and Microsoft Studios . Well here we are nearing the end of Forza 7’s money making run I say that because we all know they are a company trying to make money providing a service in the form of a game that I have personally been playing since Forza 2 . And with this version they have committed into the world of PC and a being more of a simulation to that I say bravo , I haven’t played the PC version but from what I have heard it doe’s not differ from the Xbox version a great deal now this where Turn 10 and I say this as a dedicated fan putting forward my opinion , Should Turn 10 take Forza Motorsport brand and make it more of a simulation my opinion is YES !! and to do this I think they should do the following … 1 Get rid of the vehicles such the vans why give idiot weapons to destroy other gamers fun of racing people who want to race race cars not a delivery van 2 Group the vehicles into Brands and type of races like Truck , Off road Truck , GT3 , Classic F1 and so on . 3 Cut down on the models of things like the GTR do we need 5 versions of the one car we only need the ones that look like race cars 6 Make the models of the cars more like race cars inside and out not spend credits on modifying a car then seeing it in the garage looking like you would take it for a Sunday drive to Grany’s . 7 Make tracks for different classes Off road , dirt , circuit racing ect. 8 Less of these so called exotic cars yeah they are nice to drive but what idiot would race something worth millions of dollars unless you are that Donald fellow leave them to Forza Horizan . 9 Do we honestly have to have the old pick-up trucks it’s a racing game not a grocery delivery game . Well there I’ve had a bit of a vent at some of the things I think what do you think doe’s Turn 10 need to make changes or doe’s it leave Forza Motorsport as is and branch off into something Like Forza Real Motorsports . Let’s make this topic go viral maybe Turn 10 may take notice .
I honestly dont know what direction the next installment will take and at this point i dont even think its a guarantee we’ll see a forza motorsport 8. I think the drastic design changes made to forza 7 and even now after turn 10 have reversed these changes, horizon 4 has been released with some of these same failed design choices have caused me to literally have zero trust or faith in them to deliver a great forza game ever again.
There was a thread not too long ago about if turn 10 listens and both sides brought up some good points but in the long run my answer came from the release of horizon 4 and the answer is no they dont, obviously nothing was learned from the failures of forza 7. So i dont believe anything thats posted in this thread will have any effect on the design decisions of any future title.
Dan Greenwalt posted a comment once on twitter that said, “If our vision of forza doesnt agree with you, there are lots of great racing games out there. Game on!” I dont agree with their vision and it seems like many others dont either as they have also left to play other games. I still truly find it hard to believe how out of touch they could be with their fanbase after 10+ years of making these games.
If I had to guess, I’d say FM8 will be more polished on launch and might have a bit more of a serious atmosphere to it. I highly doubt they’ll remove the “weird” cars (Gran Turismo did fine with them), but will have less of them, especially in paid DLC.
Looking at the features they’ve promised for FM7 and some of the comments made, I think they know where they went wrong this game. If they get the time and resources to change all that remains to be seen, but I’m optimistic for FM8.
Aren’t they two different studios with very different games and (somewhat) audiences?
Both studios work on horizon. Other than motorsport being track based and horizon being open world the core assets are the same. Same cars, upgrades, tuning system and same painting system. There are some tweaks to the physics, the one that stands out for me is the speed sensitivity but other than that whenever i play horizon it just feels like a forza game to me.
Horizon used to be used as a test bed of sorts for some features that would end up in motorsport ie weather/time of day and the auction house but it seems to be the opposite now that horizon is more popular than motorsport. I would agree that the core audiences would be different but im sure the overlap of players is pretty high between the two games, which is a positive thing from a business perspective.
The thing that i dont find positive is the continued pursuit of dumbing down the games to the point that it takes almost no skill to play. I feel its having a negative effect on the games as a whole because when people transition from single to multiplayer 9 times out of 10 they dont have the necessary skills to compete and that leads to frustration and ultimately the toxic situation we have in mutiplayer.
As i said above i also dont like that horizon 4 released with one of the worst omissions of forza 7 and it just shows that whether players like it or not someone some where is trying to steer these games away from what they once were.
FM6 should still keep it simple and feature rich as in FM7 but with more tracks and enough cars already. What I would like to see in FM8 are the introduction of point to point circuits…eg Pikes Peak…these should be real and can be taken from anywhere in the world, eg…Taill of the Dragon in Tennessee. Physics should be improved of course but the game should not be tailored down with frivolities such as earning clothing items and such. I would also like FM8 to adapt a voice, such as the IMSA voice John Hindhaugh at the start and during races providing tack and pit information about drivers on the tracks and the condition of their cars and penalty status – the game really needs this. Instead of displaying “perfect turns” – announce it! Enough have been said about cars in this game – it is sufficient!!! What we need in FM8 are tracks, game interaction while out on track and more excitement focused on RACING! Tracks such as Mid-Ohio, Gilles Villeneuve and Jose Carlos Pace should be included in FM8.
From day one to now they changed 7 drastically for the better. It’s like night and day really. I didn’t like 7 when it came out, but now I love the game. They need to continue rolling with what they have in 8 and focus on changing up tracks, have less cars if you need to. They need to advance the campaign ever more and open up more freedom (like Forza 4). They need to have the mass of rivals they have now day one. They need to fully do their “experimental drag” They need to include a completely new gameplay mode. Finally, they need to stop messing with whats not broken and change things just for changing.
Subscription based so they don’t have to make the same game over and over with the same issues. Forza 7 has proved anything can be done to an existing game.
Well I for one have been watching how Forza Horizon 4 was being received on the FH4 forums prior to and well after launch. Hoping in the best possible way that it was a tremendous success, but from what I have gathered there and other information outlets, that is not the case and bear in mind that is my own personal conclusion. One of the biggest things that struck me was the fact that Playground went down the same path as Turn 10 and excluded the Class based Rivals feature. I have a theory as to why Turn 10 excluded them and that is possibly because they intended to redraw the track limits before launch and there was just not enough time to do so. Add to that, the fact that the ForzaRC occupied the vast majority of FM7’s lifespan. Well it’s almost the perfect storm for not having them at launch. It never really occurred to me until I read about FH4 not having them at launch. FH4’s would also be an insane amount of data considering it has 4 different seasons.
That being said, there is a reason why fast food restaurants and other like minded businesses have a very specific way in which their product is prepared. Once you gain a customer, your smartest option is to retain that customer through consistency, very much like racing. If you have a massive lead on your opponent, trying out different lines is not wise. Stick with what got you in that position in the first place. It’s fine to mix things up when your struggling, but prelaunch IMO the Forza Franchise as a whole was not struggling and if anything was at the top of their game again with FH3’s massive success. Most people in general do not accept change with open arms. You may win some new customers, but the odds are stacked against you in hopes of maintaining the foundation of your customer base. Turn 10 realized that and returned them, but at what cost to some loyal fans banking on the fact that a core feature would obviously be present in the game at launch. I give them Kudos for returning them and hopefully my theory was correct. Time became an issue and they planned to add them all along. Hopefully they return them to FH4 as well. Otherwise those in charge of making the final decisions on game development appear to just be blindly throwing darts at a dartboard hoping to hit the bullseye.
Honestly now if FH4’s short comings aren’t addressed, IMO the Forza Franchise is on very shaky ground. I am not saying they on gonna throw the towel in just yet, but the player base most likely has already taken a fairly large hit. I also wonder how much Game Pass is propping up the player base in FH4. It’s pretty reasonable to think that if the multiplayer issues aren’t addressed fairly quickly FH4 will become a ghost town slightly after the holiday season.
As far as the future of Forza Motorsport, plain and simple more features. Features that enhance the game, not things that pigeon hole the player into a specific way of playing. A racing game isn’t that complicated when compared to other types of games from a fundamental concept. You have cars - we got those , you have tracks - we got those, you have some sort of governing body ie. homologation / divisions to regulate how cars interact with each other - we got those. The problem is, the most important thing is missing, lack of core features and Freedom to play how we see fit to play. The way this game is setup now we have homologation / divisions / and Class based categories all fighting against each other when playing. For example if you set a lap time in multiplayer it gets posted in the homologation leaderboard even if wasn’t homologated.
There is really a laundry list of things that could make this game epic in the eyes of a vast majority of players. Most if not all of that information is right here on these forums. All they have to do is read our posts and use basic logic to realize that other games are already doing the things that would improve the game. Just a few off the top of my head below.
- Custom Championships = Overwhelming obvious that this would please many people. I see this request all the time in the Project Cars forum. IDK maybe they finally added, but I know for a fact that Assetto Corsa has them.
- Fully animated pit stops, with a strategic interface. Pretty sure one of those other games has this feature now. I can’t help but laugh when I pull into the pits and see an opaque censorship cube covering up the screen.
- A data log of all our laps during a race=post race / and optional permanent pervious lap in the HUD instead of one that disappears . There were games made over 20 years ago that had this feature. Measuring how consistent your lap times are is pretty important in a racing game.
- Career single player = A Zero to Hero path (choose your favorite car and see how far you can take it in the Career Path) which would make a lot more use of all the tuning options we have currently - and a somewhat restricted path like we have now. Then everyone is happy.
Sorry for the long post, but probably like most others I always think about how much potential this game has and sadly realize how much goes to waste. It’s sad to think how much time was spent on the whole Loot Box thing, only to now see they are removing it. Had that time been spent elsewhere in this game, any one or a combination of the above features could have been implemented.
What worries me the most is here we are again at the proverbial Game Console generation gap crossroads, with FM8 hanging in the balance. I just hope that whatever extra hardware a NG console provides isn’t completely wasted on the Graphical side of a potential next iteration, if and when it comes.
Yeah. vans, trucks, and SUVs gotta go. They belong in the Horizon series not Motorsport.

Sshhh, don’t say that, people will get upset.
Maybe they should go back to square one and make the game like Forza 2. I didn’t like Forza 6 because I hated the career mode if you can call it a career, and I didn’t like Forza 7 for these key reasons: having cars locked behind collector tiers, the way too broad career mode, the whole lootbox thing, the pointless use of assists, and the forced homologation system.
Hope Forza Motorsport 8 Gets A Great Launch, Love To See More From It.
I have posted this previously on another thread, but I’ll edit and add a few goods point others have made and re-post here.
Generally, I think Motorsports as a series has missed the opportunity (since release of horizon games) to become a more serious sim racer, as a point of differentiation. Eg. Horizon = Bit Silly in Good Fun / Arcade Racer / Caters for new and younger player base. Motorsport = Serious but rewarding / Sim Racer / Caters for existing and older player base.
Here’s 10 point list of things I would like to see in Motorsport 8;
1. Expand League Racing for Multiplayer; Driver Level System that rewards clean racing and finishing position, Group players according to Level, Ghost lapped cars, Add endurance races to Leagues.
2. Strategy in Endurance Racing; Animated Pit stops, Simple Tyre strategy (Hard, Soft, Wet), Fuel consumption, 1 Lap Qualifying, Mechanical issues (see point 5), Lap Delta. F1 2018 does this well.
3. Custom Championships; Let us choose Circuits, no of laps, Qualifying, etc. Horizon does this well with Blueprints.
4. Zero to Hero Career; Start in Karts or “reasonably priced car” (e.g. Spec Maita), progress to touring cars and eventually F1. Minimum difficulty and prize money should increase each tier to encourage players to improve. Only after you complete successful Pro Racing career should you afford to have a 50 Supercar garage like Lewis Hamilton.
5. Realistic Upgrades; No 6.2ltr twin turbo Willies Jeep, a 1960’s Datsun road car has chassis rigidity of a wet noodle is near uncontrollable with 600hp, an 1100hp 3ltr should have awful powerband, should heat soak and have horrible fuel and tyre consumption over race distance. Extremes should compromise durability and drive-ability, reward smart balanced tuning and development.
6. R&D Parts; Access to one-off Special Parts for each car (Forza Edition Parts?) that doesn’t increase PI (eg. 911 Exhaust with +2hp & -1kg weight) for hard earnt achievements (eg. complete 200 laps in a 911 ) for players to be more competitive with their favorite cars. Current Forza Edition cars with silly wings and CR bonus are very disappointing. Let us build our own “special” cars.
7. Paintable Race Helmets and Suits; Sorry but GT Sports Helmet and Suit system is just miles better than the gimmick we got in FM7.
8. Race Car Preparation; Weight Reduction, Chassis Prep and Function Aero that has corresponding visual upgrade. Remove back seats and audio, install race buckets, Lexan windows, Steering wheel, Exhausts, Wings, splitters, canards, diffusers, rear view mirrors, remove road accessories (ariels, indicators, etc). GT6 did this well.
9. Delete Unpopular Cars; SUV’s, Wagons, Vans are waste of space, Eg. Ford transit or Willies Jeep. (put it in Horizon not Motorsport). Add cars like those in FM4, Mines R34 GTR, HKS Time attack Evo, DTM and Super GT Touring cars…… Oh and Ferrari F2004.
10. New Real World Tracks; Tsukuba (Japan), Fuji Raceway (Japan), Imola (Italy), Classic Spa (Belgium), Monaco GP (Monaco), Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Canada), Phillip Island (Australia), Pikes Peak (USA)…
As long term and loyal Forza player I’d much prefer to wait another year or two longer for Motorsport to return as a legitimate sim-racer. Leave the costumes, SUV’s and general Arcade stuff to the Horizon Games. Anyway, That’s my 2 cents… Hope Turn 10 is listening.
Maybe Some Cutscenes For The Main Story And Maybe Other Modes Would Be Great, Making The Game Look More Realistic.
