I noticed this was announced at the Microsoft conference last night, however I didn’t hear what was new/different about this one as I had it on low volume while I was doing some other things (will be catching up on the conference properly with full sound tonight).
That brings me to the main point of this post, how is this iteration of Forza Motorsport different to the other games in the series, and by extension, other motorsport related games?
FM6 didn’t need an overhaul. It had the foundation for a great game. It just lacked features and what features FM6 had were not terribly well thought out.
100% agree with this… fix some problems up, bring over features from FH3 and add a few new ones, improve some weak points and wham bam thank you ma’am we’ve got a great game. Unfortunately I feel the points that needed fixing are quite trick for example, public lobbies and Drivatars don’t seem like an easy fix to me.
I’m not sure if they mentioned that but I did spot some strange wording where they said the weather would be different each time you revisit the same track
By that wording alone I’d say it’s not actually dynamic, I’m probably reading to much in to it…
I like some of the announced features but as trailers on any of these games you never really know. They show the games in the best light possible. If I’m basing things on the experience I had personally with the last iteration of the game played, I would put my safe money on FM7 over PC2 in terms my own playability. Not saying I’m shutting the door entirely on other games, only based on my own experience, I’ve had a lot more fun with the Forza games so I’m much more likely to buy FM7 than PC2, AC1 or 2, etc. (Dirt 4 not part of these as it’s a different genre).
What they really need to implement is Motorsport. All we had before was casual racing. No Raceweekends with qualifying and possible testing, no season with accumulated points and so on and so fourth.
If they bring this into some single player mode or even better in a full customizable single player free play/season mode I am over the moon… but I learned a lot in the past with T10 and one step forward most likely will mean another step back at some other point…
I’ve put this down a few times in the features wish list in Forza 6, to have a more professional racing feel to the game. Nothing was mentioned of this so who knows, they could have done something to single player to make it more enjoyable.
I dunno guys, this seems kinda ehhh to me. Once again theyll be some sort of excuse because its a Scorpio launch title bla bla bla. In the ars technica preview of scorpio they had a chance to see forza 6 running in 4k. I have a feeling that demo they watched is forza 7, just before they added 4k textures. Imo it seems like a 4k upgrade of 6, not really a new game.
I like that they added dynamic weather, they added more cars and more tracks(maple valley woohooo) but the things that i want out of forza 7 havent been touched on yet and that scares me. Improved physics and tire model? Improved pi system? Improved upgrade and tuning system? Improved ffb? Fov adjustment? If not fov can we adjust the seat? If not that is there a dash cam? If not that can i remove the wheel and driver from cockpit view? An answer to the multiplayer debacle that is forza 6? Any race day options for those that want to play that way? A real player rating system like gt sport has? Any sort if tutorial for new racers or anyone interested in learning actual race craft and racing etiquete? Uhh penalties?
These are some questions that reflect comments ive seen on the forza 5 forum then on the forza 6 forum, some numerous times others maybe not. But I certainly have a feeling many if not all of these will not be addressed in this sequel. But at least we have 200 customizable options for our drivers cause god knows thats what forza fans have been waiting for…
As others have said, FM7 seems to have dynamic weather in that rain could be light or it can be in a heavy downpour with thunder roaring in the background with the rain puddles being dynamic instead of the fixed puddle locations seen in FM6 as well as more time of day settings. Also, it should be noted that several of the venues are either returning after being absent from FM5 and 6 as well as at least one all new location(Dubai).
In any case, online racing will still be plagued with people that think it’s ok to ram and wreck others. I can already imagine getting caught in the turn 1 demolition derby due to someone that decides to punt into the cars ahead of me.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I am pretty tired of the physics that were in Forza Motorsport 5 and 6. 5 was decent and then came 6 which to me feels like you are driving on ice. Also, the AI throughout the Forza series has always been mediocre but the drivatars have managed to make things worse, either fix them or get rid of them completely. (Apologies for the small rant)
The AI are abysmal, it is true. I daren’t play single player with full damage and rewind off, as you will inevitably find the AI slamming the brakes on after the apex of a corner, or on a straight for no reason, causing me to hit them. If they drove like that on a real race track they’d be black flagged and even lose their racing licence. for dangerous driving.
I think you’re expectations are in some other racing series. Forza has had a steady positive increase in physics and they strive to make the game challenging and fun at the same time, which I think they nailed. It’s by no means realistic, but it brings great racing without the sliding around corners aspect.
The trailers have nothing to do with the game. There is actually no racing atmosphere.
It is either getting griefed in online multiplayer
or
you get series of races randomly thrown together that require you to crash’n overtake a majority of the grid from your fixed starting position if you want to have a shot at the no.1 spot in higher difficulties.
Every single Forza game I hope for some major changes, but all you get is more cars, more tracks, changed physics and nice grahics. Don’t get me wrong, this makes an amazing game already, but if you think about what Forza could be, you could go insane just by acknowledging all the missed opportunities.
Dynamic Weather
Customizable Driver Character
4K graphics (only on Xbox One X and PC)
HDR colors (only on Xbox One S, One X, and PC)
New track (Dubai, maybe others?)
New cars
Honestly I’m pretty pumped for the return of Maple Valley and Mugello. If the new cars are good ones and the cockpit view with the wheel removed is in the final version, I will probably get this one.
I assumed that people understood the PC would have better graphics. All PC ports are at least on par with the highest available console versions, so it’s understood by most that the PC version of Forza has 4K graphics capabilities.
It would be nice if they didn’t give us everything unlocked from the get go. We should have access to about a quarter or even less say around 100 of the cars in free play mode and some of the tracks. Then as we grinded through the career mode we would unlock more cars/tracks etc. Also the rewarding system is like on steroids, gives us way too much cash/cars doesn’t really feel like you earned anything.
