What have I missed?!?!

Hope you are all well. After a long break I’ve decided to venture back into the world of Forza Motorsport
Hopefully a 1tb Xboxone and a copy of Forza 6 is being picked by Amazon staff for me right now! I expect to receive it Monday but unfortunately I wont be able to switch it on until Weds! :frowning:

Back when I was playing Forza 4 on the reg (2013!) this was the place to get the latest on what was happening in the world of Forza. The last time I played was during the period where we were obsessing over the Bernese Alps lap time in that lovely old Merc. (If anybody remembers the old FM4 community rivals awesomeness that they used to do.)

Is there anyone out there who fancies filling me in on what I’ve missed since then? Are we still having as much fun together? Are turn 10 staff still “keeping it real”?

Thanks

James

James, welcome back.
There are a few big changes since Forza 4. The auction house and storefront are gone, and have been replaced with a sharing system. The AI drivers have been replaced by a “drivatar” system that supposedly learns from your driving. The physics had a fairly drastic change in FM5, but in FM6 they are more like FM4, to me.
I guess the biggest and most controversial change is the 24 player lobbies in multiplayer. That many cars is causing some growing pains, with most lobbies experiencing frequent large pile ups/wrecks. I think that will eventually work itself out, but I am an optimist.
There are no Drag Racing or Drifting events or multiplayer lobbies (that I am aware of).
The rivals events are still there, and some league events have been added.
Maybe someone else can give you more insight.

I think the community is evolving and participation in the forums and other events may be low. But, I think it will get better too.

The game looks and drives great, and the selection of cars is very good.

Again, welcome back,

Peace

Man, you forgot the most important feature! Ten eighty P sixty frames per second!

Exactly lol. Well, we should also mention that T10 for some reason seems to be allergic to custom public lobbies.

I thought saying the game looks and drives good covered all that tech stuff I know little about. LOL

Cool! Did you say 24 player lobbies? 24 car races? Wasn’t it like 8 before?

That is pretty drastic, I’m looking forward to trying that out now. With 24 cars on the track I should stand at least a better chance of not being last now eh? Glass half full.
I’ve been reading on here, and the new ABC themed lobbies sound awesome.

The game looks stunning visually too, even compared to the already good 360 versions. I can’t wait for next wk now.

Anybody got a perspective of the new paint shop experience?

Don’t get too excited. Multiplayer is awful. It’s no way near as good as FM4 (and that was far from great). A lot of the good drivers have left and mostly what you see online is really really bad drivers. Just a warning.

Hmm, if you paint, you will love the new paint shop.

If you live by the paintgun you might not like the new sharing mechanic.

If you can paint AND drive, you will not starve. : )

I can’t drive for crap. I’ve got loads of original paints on FM4 tho. Am I being naive to think that I might use them in FM6?

I’m afraid those much loved F4 liveries will have to be recreated in F6.

But you now get 3000 layers per side/top, and double the back, nose sections I believe.

So recreating them will be much easier, and your level of detail can certainly be much higher.

Car packs with limo’s, Aztec’s and many vehicles most will not use.

This. I’m actually more pleased with the FM5 selection of cars, which is weird to say since FM6 has more, doesn’t it?

That said, in FM5 I completed most of the D series in a Ford pickup, and over the weekend I ran a race in the Vandura.

Just because. It was kind of a disaster, but it was fun as a one-off. Seriously, though, the Aztec and the limo? Who the heck is going to drive the limo? I could see it for FH, but FM?

Welcome back to “The Fold” fellow Forza player.

I was also absent from Forza from Forza 3, but relented and grabbed a 1tbt COD. Unit and a Forza 6 1 tbt unit once the game was released in September last. I grabbed Forza 5 on sale when I got my COD unit so I could begin to get back into the franchise.

Plus I grabbed extra points for owning and playing it prior to playing Forza 6, which was a nice surprise when I fired up F6. It paid off hansomly for me with a huge induction of credits when I fired up Forza 6.

So my tip would be, grab a copy of F5, spend some time with it to win some classes etc, then pop F6 in to relieve your rewards. Rewards are given based on how long and his many cars you have PRIOR to starting the next iteration.

In F5 you’ll get a decent idea of how the game has matured. Be amazed at how different it all looks and feels. I know it will be a huge temptation to get straight into F6, but fo try and have dome gun in F5 first.

As pointed out, painting has improved dramatically, so has photography. Which has a HUGE following in the game. Some players only spending their time to taking excellent shots in all the great locations within the game.

Forza Hub is a new way of navigating through the game, the weekly events around the globe, and the various tournaments, and the huge involment that Turn 10 now has in all things to do with racing. It keeps you up today with all the news, and it’s archives are well worth taking a look at.

It also keeps you connected to your Rewards section, where you’ll be awarded points for ALL of your Forza games. We get weekly points based on our levels, which now go to Level 9. This is achieved through participation in ALL Forza franchised games. So check that out now to get to know it.

We can only Save 10 Replays, and have a limit on the.number of photos we can take. So be sure you pick you photos wisely. You can choose to upload your images to a site such as Flickr, so that you can share your images, and your various liveries you may choose to make.

We can no longer use others logos on cars IF we want to share the livery. You’ll need to copy the various logos many painters have made readily available in the image editor section.

The game itself is great, and I think you’ll enjoy going through the various sections that doodle build uou up to the quicker cars. There’s a great Showcase section for doing endurance races, plus, if you’re into the silly game races, then there in there as well. Each to their own I always say.

Do play through the entire “Volumn” rather than just for the basic 30% in order to move to the next Volumn. It’s much more rewarding learning the nuances of each car in the various classes.

Snowowl is the guy to go to if you have greviences with regards to Wreckers and the like in multiplayer events. Save the replay, then contact him with the specifics and the replay. He’ll then deal with it. It maybe take a few days, but he WILL get yo it.

There’s probably a lot more to advise you on, but the main thing is is, to just have FUN AND ENJOYABLE what the game has to offer. Do grab the ultimate bundle if it’s still avsilable, but if jot, grab the Car Oass, and the few recent DLCs and make sure you grab the Porsche Edition.

It’s not just a list of 21 Porsche’s, but it includes the great Virginia International a Raceway, but more importantly. It’s a game within the game. It has its own “Volumns” to work through, plus it also has its own “Showcase” events, info Enduro events test really do test your mettle in the game.

So, in short, just have fun and enjoy. Ad some ppl yo your friends list, they’ll be added to your Rivals so you can compete against their ghosts.

Edit: and like Swerve said, the online side of things has deteriated a great deal, especially of late, as the dredges of racing life have taken over, forcing many good racers to abandon ship, and head for the likes of PC Cars and similar franchises. It’s a sad case of affairs when this happens.

Where the hindrances of a few affect so many. Do give it a try, but try hitting up some good drivers to see if you can set up a private race of some sort.

Thanks OZ and Hippie that’s awesome, lots of detail. I can’t wait to get my hands on it now, sounds like a major revamp of the old FM games with a strong emphasis on community. The quote above is also excellent advice.
I can assure you that I wont be taking it though. Sorry dude, but there is no way that Forza 6 is going to sit glaring at me through it’s cellophane while I wait for a copy of FM5 to arrive. I’m just going to have to suck it up and soldier on.

I’m sorry to hear that there are still multiplayer issues but I was expecting much of the same based on earlier games. Just like everyone else, I’ve got some strong opinions on that subject.

^^^I concur^^^
But I am optimistic things will get better.

Things certainly won’t get better, it’s quite obvious already Turn 10 refuses to put much more budget into improving Forza 6. Apart from monthly car packs and a few community managers to keep us entertained, they put their focus in future titles. It’s the Call of Duty’ism of a racing game with bi-annual release schedules and it certainly sucks.

Perhaps the multiplayer thugs will head over to Apex and annoy ppl over there for awhile??

Not wishing terrible things on Apex players, but it would give the Forza Xbox loyal players a chance to get in some proper, clean and honest racing for a change…!?

Very frustrating, isn’t it.

Just a word of warning. If you start buying movies off Xbox TVs-Movies, and store them on a separate do HDD, you won’t be able to watch them unless you’re connected to Xbox Live. Even though you own them, they still belong to MS.!

That aside, enjoy once you’re home and having some fun…

You can port liveries only from FM5 to FM6, FM4 was a different game engine and diff resolutions so cannot be ported.

Although I loved FM5, FM6 is bigger and better and more to it, and although OZ has mentioned you get credits earned for having FM5, the game play you would spend in FM5 to get the credits you’d probably earn more credits spending that time on FM6 (especially with it’s ‘spins’ system).
