After a couple of months off, I decided to log back into the game and all my cars, which I had spent hours tuning to achieve the perfect stability and handling for me, suddenly became absolutely awful to drive. Understeer, oversteer, the whole lot in a perfectly tuned car. What happened? Has there been a physics update? Do I need to re-tune all my cars? But what about the hundreds of laps I’d put in on the test track? All for nothing?
Yes, a number of players have expressed feeling noticeable changes in aspects of car handling after some of the game’s updates, but those changes don’t seem to be listed in any public patch notes, so something doesn’t smell right.
Not sure if you are using a wheel or not but here are a couple of things that have helped me when things felt very different .
You could try resetting the Ffb to default then exit from settings and accept new settings then go back in and put your settings in place then exit and accept new settings.
If thats no joy then before trying a car reset it back to default then load your tune back in.
Double check all your other settings just to make sure.
The one time they did not help me was after a 3 week break everything felt wrong but after fiddling with this and that i ended up very nearly with the same settings but things started to feel better as i got used to It again.
Hope you get things dialed in again and good luck on the track.
I noticed this yesterday in A class. My tire temps showed yellow/orange and never returned to white, even after the long straight at VIR. So since the tires got stuck in this orange state, when cornering it was just compounding the issue and got worse and worse throughout the race. It seems that it’s only at certain tracks though.
Tire temp bug?
Telemetry showed fairly average temps but the HUD showed hot tires and the car was behaving as if they were hot.
You use sport tc?
I dont know in what context you think the cars are different. If youre talking about the bop for forza gt etc then yes things have changed. But overall nothing has changed regarding physics.
The driving physics of a car depend on the number of drivers, the player’s geographical location and probably the server provided by Turn10. This is just my personal opinion. Today I drove in the P class, Le Mans at night without rain in the 1987 Porsche #17 Porsche AG 962C with my own tuning settings. There were about 16 other drivers in both races and the majority drove the Scuderia Ferrarie F1. (The F1 car has absolutely no place in the mixed racing class. F1 races against F1 and nothing else. Absolutely stupid!) - I started first with the Porsche and crossed the finish line first after 2 laps. It was a tough fight though. Award ceremony finished, wanted to save video clip. It showed… Saved… Game Crash No. 467 this month. About 40 minutes ago the same track was active again at night, without rain. The first race was around 3 p.m. and the second around 8:30 p.m. Again around 16 drivers with more F1 vehicles than LMR or Hypercar or standard vehicles. I started from 2nd position but this time the presence of the other drivers and the more aggressive driving style meant that the whole driving physics was alien to me. Rubber on the roads is supposed to give grip, it felt like black ice. The car braked worse and its handling was too sensitive. Braking points were no longer correct. Penalties were distributed incorrectly due to incorrect assessment and so it was only 7th place.
I’ve noticed this short story of mine since the 2023 release. That the driving physics behaves like gambling.
Turn10 has worked for 6 years on something that hardly anyone wanted, that nobody needs (artificial intelligence = totally pointless and deadline only performance) although they have no idea about it at all.
If you’re smart, you’d rather not continue working on it and let other studios work on it. Personal opinion.
I play free play only and occasionally dive into the career. On a controller. I haven’t noticed any changes in physics I think.
Although I should mention that the physics in FM have always felt different between SP and MP. Dunno why.
In the past, it always said on the games that the MP experience can feel different. I think that has something to do with the servers. I’ve also noticed that my offline setup feels a bit different online. I have no idea if that’s still normal in 2024, but I don’t think it should be like that anymore.
Track rubber and temperature is another variable to consider.
I almost exclusively race in Featured Multiplayer and haven’t noticed any physics changes recently.
I don`t know what happened, TCS, tires, track surface, aero? Something changed, I lose cars completly random all the time. It is really frustrating at the moment because everything has become so incredibly inconsistent.
No idea why A class cars with racing slicks slide all over the place now for example.
I was test driving my upgraded ZR1 at the Nordschleife/Nurburgring yesterday, and I can say it was the first time I felt like I was genuinely driving in the Green Hell, right down to feeling motion sickness at times. I don’t think I’ve ever felt that immersed in the gameplay with any other GT or Forza, not even in their best iterations.
Physics modelling/gameplay/handling is quite good, I’ll admit
It shows promise, but there is some sort of issue. There are cars (at least on their default settings, and if the car isn’t upgraded those settings can’t be changed) that have severe “torque braking.” The car under braking the car will suddenly act like all of the deceleration is being applied through one of the tires and the car will pull sharply and uncontrollably in that direction. I don’t know if it is the result of problems with the physics, problems with the car models, and/or the stock settings, but there are still significant issues to be resolved.
I don’t believe I have experienced this but I’m on a controller.
My main issue is unnecessary understeer and the steering wheel lock reducing when you apply brakes mid turn to correct your trajectory.
Also, the pad steering feels dull and numb around the centre requiring very large inputs to swerve quickly to the left or right or make minor corrections when you need to. Think invisible 5-7% deadzone around the centre. It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever experienced in a FM game
