Wet weather and tyres

I don’t think what drifter wrote is an assumption. It’s exactly what Dan tweeted.Basically, if you have the race tire compound upgrade on your vehicle and the track you race will include rain then you will automatically switch from DRY RACE to WET RACE compound which will not affect your PI in any way.

If you are running stock/street/sport tire compound then your compound will remain unchanged as will your PI.

I’m not sure that running stock/street/sport would give you an advantage in the rain because one would think that WET RACE tires would still be better than the sport tires.

In any case, I wouldn’t be worried about “those who will stop at nothing to beat you” because there will always be people like that and in the end, you’re all governed by the same rules. What you’re describing as happening in wet weather happens already in the dry weather so I’m sure it will happen in the wet weather.

Although it’s an assumption it’s the only logical one. Otherwise anyone running race tires would end up on a wet grid with PI to spare. We could draw the conclusion that race tires will be available wet and dry and carry the same PI. That being the case it’ll be quite easy to have wet and dry tunes ready to jump into and most players will just load a wet setup and won’t need the game to do a tire change for them. I guess the automatic change to wets is there to assist new players. people that don’t/can’t tune or build cars and idiots.

is it logical to assume a wet tyre will be available in the upgrade shop?

as long as i can remember forza has had 5 compounds available on most but not all cars.

  1. stock
  2. street
  3. sport
  4. race
  5. drag

will forza 6 bring a 6th(wet) to the upgrade shop?

From the verbiage in dans tweet I would think not. However if that is the case wouldn’t it make logical sense that stock tires woukd be better in the rain than sport tires? Guess we will have to wait and see

New tire compounds were confirmed, but unfortunately Manteo’s source in the FAQ has since been deleted.

I do believe this included “wet” versions of the racing tires, with their own stats, rather than just cosmetic only changes to the normal slicks.

just the kind of info was looking for.
thank you sir.

can anyone else confirm this as 2 or more people are not often wrong.

that is the impression i am getting.

but its nice to speculate sometimes.

Without speculation, they’d have to fire 3/4ths of the moderators, for lack of forum activity.

Resume speculation in 5, 4, 3,…

XD

That’s what I was getting at except that stock tires would have a better tread design than a semi slick or “sport” tire in the wet

he never mentioned wet tyres in the tweet. he said we automatically change the tyres but what to? and in the next words mentioned street compound.

this is were the confusion lies. its not a very clear statement imo.

thankfully Mos95b95 has come up with some info which makes sense to me

only way im going to find out for sure is when i first go into the upgrade shop and hopefully find new tyres(wets).

thanks to everyone for their input on this question

It makes sense to me. If you have treaded tyres then crack on. If not the game will ensure an appropriate tyre for wet conditions, I just hope drag tyres are not allowed for use in circuit events, if they continue to allow this they I truly feel they do not listen to the community…

You mean it’s not uber realistic when they make a gt car time trial for the 12 hours of Sebring and the fastest builds were in a aston gt1 with drag tires?

Since the conditions are static, it’s really simple: In the rain the car will have wet tyres on. There’s no need to set up anything and there’s absolutely no data about what kind of wet tyres they are. You’ll get reduced grip and the car will lose control when you go into a puddle that’s all.
