Not sure if this has been posted but did anyone notice in the gameplay with the Nissan GTR but as it started raining, nobody came in the pits for rain tires? The track was soaking wet and the car didn’t seem act like it was on slicks in the rain. Just wondering if it’s going to be like a horizon feeling where when it starts raining, it just automatically puts you on rain tires or adjusts the physics accordingly. I hope not otherwise we’ll see a really nice statagey option of coming into the pits at the right time wasted.
So I was disappointed at just how close the grip levels were between wet & dry racing in Forza 6. Maybe because the ‘Race’ tyre in FM6 wasn’t actually a full dry racing slick that would send you aquaplaning at the first sign of moisture.
Any signs that this may be addressed in FM7. Actually make a tangible difference between setting a car up for the wet and one for the dry. Can we at least have a race (dry) tyre & race (wet) tyre.
I see we have dynamic weather in FM7 - the option to pit at the ideal time to change to a wet weather set up and vice versa would be amazing, though i’m not holding my breath.
Do you guys think that in full damage/sim mode, we will need to pit and change for dry/ soft rain/ heavy rain tire for exemple? That, If its the case, we could have some kind of a weather prediction system and makes strategy? I know its a not F1 game, but I would just find a bit weird driving in a storm with slick tire that suddenly become rain tire. What do you think?
It shouldn’t be like that though. In a realistic racing scenario - anyone who decided to pit for wets in the conditions we have seen (torrential storm) would, within a lap, easily make up the pit time over someone who decided to stay out on slicks.
I agree that no one should have to change tires in a 4 lap race, but the option should be there. We should be able to choose tires at the beginning of the race, based on weather forecast, or strategy that we plan on running.
Now even on a 4 lap race, if we started with slicks (because we didnt pay attention to the weather forecast) and then started to rain in lap 2, we should have the option to pit and chage to rain tires. That’s just an extreme example, but I think that you get my point.
From all the footage Ive seen of the weather, it looks like the rain start at exactly the same time every race at Nurburgring GP, starts at the 7th turn on the first lap. This could just be the demo, but I highly doubt Turn 10 put in fully dynamic weather. It may be dynamic the first time you race the track, but every other time you will see that the rain starts at the same part of the track.
I doubt you will need to pit for a weather specific tire too.
That the rain begins at the same time in every race at the Nurburgring was also the case in the Forza Horizon 3 E3 Demo. They just want that all people share the same experience there.
As we know FH3 has a full dynamic weather system.
For FM7 I am not sure…they would shout it through the roof if it was really full dynamic, but they are holding it back and dont give much attention to it.
I also think, that you don´t need a pit stop when it begins to rain, would be really cool, but its Forza and not compatible with all the casual players.
It’s a demo, the difference between one weather condition in the demo instantly switches from dry to wet. Not a gradual natural change. It’s designed to simply show the different weather environments, not actual gameplay changes as they actually occur.
I’m certain that once a real game ships, there will be gradual changes in the gameplay, not instant changes from love;y sunny weather, to drenching rain as shown in the demo video. That’s just basic common sense.
I think Fm7 will be fully dynamic with its weather but im really hoping that we’ll have to pit for rain tyres when it starts raining, I don’t i want slicks to turn into rain tyres magically when it begins to rain. It would ruin a strategy that could have easily been implemented.
I dont see pit stops being required even though it should be but who knows. It was a demo and in forza fashion it was like a 2 lap race. Dynamic weather and time of day are great additions to any racing game, but making weather and time of day change so drastically in such a short amount of time doesnt add much to the experience. They really better think this system through because if its done wrong its just going to be cheesy.
I know they came out on stage like they were reinventing the wheel or something, but this feature is in other games already. It has to be as good if not better than the others out there. Im glad theyre adding it but like i said it has to be done right, that includes weather forecasts, ideally a crew chief, pit stops to change tires if necessary, dynamic puddles growing and receding over time, dry lines and oh wait this isnt pcars 2 or rfactor 2 its forza, look at that beautiful sunset in full ultra super duper hyper 4k resolution. In all seriousness though i hope they do it justice.
I thought in FM6 that wet races put you on rain tires. Even if you selected racing tires for your car, there’s still rain race tires, like those used in F1. Yes, they’re a rain tire, but they’re still different from a regular all-weather road tire. In FM7, they might automatically put you on a rain tire, including rain racing tires, if there’s going to be rain during the race.
Of course, in reality, a rain race tire driven on a dry track wouldn’t provide as much grip as a slick tire and would rapidly degrade.
I’d like for FM7 to factor in these things and let us change between dry and wet tires, but I won’t hold my breath.
Thats the exact fear i have for this particular feature. During the presentation they were busy pointing out the “looks” of the approaching storm not the strategy that would ensue seeing a storm approach. Horizon has done dynamic time and weather for 2 games now, but the effect isnt to drastic.
It suits a game like horizon to react this way where as motorsport should most definitely be more realistic. Weather has a major effect on racing, precipitation, temperature and even just overall visibility in general, is it foggy, is the sun in your eyes etc. Its just as much a part of motorsports as the cars themselves, but apparently adding clothes was the missing piece to the forza puzzle.
I haven’t heard that dynamic weather is in the game, only the track will be different each time you go back to it. That leaves a lot of wiggle room. Fully dynamic weather would be a lot of fun but it woudnt work with leaderboards. That’s why there are separate leaderboards for wet and dry tracks and the tracks have uniform conditions throughout the lap, every lap. Most likely there will several disitinct variations of weather, each with its own leaderboard ( over 300 ) and consistant weather throughout the race. So there will be no need to change tires since you will start with what you need and conditions wont change during the race. ← thats my story and I’m sticking to it. : )
I know there is variable weather conditions, but is there different tyres for the different conditions? This would make racing far more strategic and interesting. Say its raining at the start, but there is a chance for the rain to stop, or visa versa. Do you put on wet weather tyres, or risk it with the normal road tyres?
Wets/intermediates weren’t mentioned in the release, which suggests to me they’re not coming.
It’s the T10 way; never go all the way with a new feature in the first game in which it appears. Be sure to save some for the next game. See: dynamic weather.
