Weak Network Connection

Hi All,
In Multiplayer, as the race is about to start, I receive a Weak Network Connection at the bottom of screen.
Is this affecting the game performance greatly? as some cars in front float in the air, have the ability to catch up with me at literally a lightening speed and smash into me( this part could be deliberate?).
In settings I have tested the multiplayer to see it’s status and the result comes back as my unit is fine for multiplayer. The Nat is Open.
Any ideas?

Cheers
Michael

Nat can be open but if you have a low upload am downlaod it will lag… what are those numbers?

They catch up because your connection cant keep up with the rate of which they move…thats why you’ll see them slow down weirdly and then suddenly speed up; happens in Horizon 2 is the connection isnt strong enough.

Thanks for the replies.
Down Speed is 6.54 mbps
Up is 0.32 mbps
Wireless strength 96%
Latency 356 ms
MTU 1480
Packet loss 0%

The upload speed is whats hurting u… minimum to usually have a positive forza experience would be around a 5 for ur upload speed. Contact ur service provider and see if its possible to get faster speeds.

Thanks, will have to try something.

One other thing, stop using wi-fi if you can, its usually better to connect via Ethernet cable

Been getting this the past few days, was fine until last week. I have a 9mb download and 1mb upload, no packet loss and hard wired to the router so its not a wireless issue, and i’m the only one online in my house when I play.

same here I have 35mb download and 2mb upload also can only talk in chat but when a race starts I can hear everyone but I cant

Has everybody tried unplugging the system for 1 min? I do that about once a week along with a hard reset daily and most if not all issues have been resolved

I agree with ERS it’s prob your upload speed, I would definitely see if you ISP has a better package available. However I’ve had it pop up weak network on me a few times even though I was testing at 120 down and 35 up(5ms latency).

Updated to ADSL2+ and did a speed test for my connection in our area:
8.57 MBPS Download
0.84 MBPS Upload
Asked a mate of mine in IT, and he said that is about all I will get, ordinary.
Welcome to Internet speed for parts of Australia.
Thanks for the replies, it is what it is.

First, if you have not done it yet, do a complete hard reset of the system:
1 – from the Dashboard, out of all games, hold the X button on the front of the console down until it shuts the system down.
2 – Disconnect the external power from the wall plug (or at least disconnect the wall-side connector on the power pack itself.
3 – WAIT until all power drains from the external power pack (no light, either white or dull orange showing on the pack).
4 – Reconnect the power supply to the electrical outlet.
5 – Restart the console in the usual manner, i.e., either with the controller or a short push on the X button on the front of the X1.
6 – WAIT until the console self-checks and fully boots to the Dashboard before attempting anything.

If you don’t disconnect the external power pack and let the power completely drain out, the system is still retaining “old” stuff and not resetting.

Second, scout through the networking information for Xbox One here: Xbox Support

Note that there are various sub-sections for the networking information, including the correct network settings, proper ports to be using for Xbox Live and troubleshooting on communication issues. You will likely also find your specific modem/router/gateway and its setup if you drill down a little bit.

Ok sweet, thanks for the information, will do as you have mentioned and see what happens, much appreciated!

You may also want to check your router to see if there is a firmware update available. Sometimes firmware updates include enhancement to performance. You can do this by going to routerlogin.net. You’ll be asked for a username/password which is usually by default admin/password. Usually the website detects your router model automatically. You’ll want to look around for an administration tab that you can click on and you should see a link for firmware update. Even if this doesn’t help your issue its always good to keep your router firmware up to date anyway.

If you primarily use your router for online gaming you should configure your upstream QoS (Quality of Service). This will assign a high priority to this type of traffic but beware that it may cause slower browsing and download speeds on other devices you may have.

Thanks again for the information, will have a look. It does seem to be pointing towards what is coming in from the street to the house. Copper wire lines.
Cheers

Another thing you might want to do is add a QoS priority rule for your Xbox’s MAC address and then set the priority level to highest.
