"Weak Internet Connection"

Why EVERY time I play online it gives me TERRIBLE connection? I disconnected my wifi from my xbox and turned it off, unplugged my router for 30 seconds and plugged it back in turned my xbox back on reconnected to the wifi and it’s still doing it. How do I fix this??

Are you worried about the warning sign or is your connection laggy?

I get the sign even though gameplay is pretty good connection wise.

This thing is annoying. Worst netcode in Forza franchise. My own car will lag on screen reverting me where I left off and loosing my position.

Forza 1 had a great netcode where cars that lagged immediately turned into ghost and has never crashed other racers with lag physics. Gaming was peer to peer so one would never see their own car lag with a bad connection.

Probably because of you’re on WiFi.

I don’t normally suggest it but go to settings and post your connection test from the console. Up/Down/Packet Loss

My game says this constantly, WiFi or no. Doesn’t seem to actually predict lag at all, I’ve had lag spikes with no warning, only for the message to pop up once things are smooth again.

If you’re getting the message from Xbox LIVE, check out this networking information from Xbox Support. There are specific sections on Testing your Network, the proper Network Settings for the Xbox One, error messages in the networking section, and the correct Network Ports to use on Xbox LIVE.

The goal is to have an OPEN Network Address Translation (NAT) setting, and it may take some adjustments or maybe even a firmware update to your router/modem/gateway to be able to achieve it.

i don’t know… :frowning: my network connection is wired and it stand still on my display sometimes - weak connection…

and my NAT is open, have good up and down speed.

snowowl you say evertime the same with open NAT etc… this isn’t the problem!

NAT only affects matchmaking and voice communications. It has nothing to do with network performance or lag. It is optimal to have open NAT in order to connect quickly to games and for clear chat. NAT directly affects who you can connect to.

If you have a hard time connecting to a server at all, or have issues with voice communications, I would suspect NAT settings.

If you’re lagging no matter what server you connect to, then I suspect issues with the individual connection.

If you do a speed check, what are the results?

If you’re playing on your wireless network and only have 5 or 10 Megs down, with other people running stuff on your network, then you’re likely going to lag.

I have 30 Megs down, 5 up, and I still run my Xbox One wired to my gateway for optimum performance.

I had this message occasionally while I was wire connected directly to router (full 20Mbps/10Mbps) with open NAT. 5Mbps down is very plenty. Anything above 3Mbps should not have any issues.

I have had no connectivity issues since FM2 using WiFi. In general, the issue creeps up if there is one or more online players have a weak connection. Therefore EVERYONE in the lobby has to have good connection and 1 slow connection will likely bring up this message.

I take the message as “Caution: possibility of erratic, jumpy cars!”.

If you want to find out if your connection is fast enough, follows Worm’s instruction above (connection test in the set-up). It tells you the upload/download/ping/packet loss etc. Download of +3Mbps and ping of less than 100ms is good. Run it few times because the numbers do vary quite a bit.

I have 2 tablets streaming videos + 2 xbox’s online at the same time using 20Mbps/10Mbps and have had NO issues.

You should have ZERO packet loss
