A serious racegame cannot go without qualifying, and even though they announced the full weekend setup themselves last year they’re only talking about dialing in the payout level by starting further down the grid.
I don’t want to choose my starting position, I want to set a blistering lap on the limit to obtain the best place possible. Be it one shot qualifying or in a X-minute session, it doesn’t matter.
Maybe I’m just looking wrong or maybe I’m missing something, but it seems like that idea has gone down the drain. Or could it be that this is only in the builders cup? I mean come on, a racing game without qualifying can’t be serious. And yes, I know FM7 didn’t have it either.

They said themselves in 2022 on Twitter, but no matter in what game mode, selecting your own grid position just sucks hard. Let’s hope it’s only in builders cup.

I think mp has qualifying, single play has challenge the grid.

We definitely need qualifying option in all single player modes too.
It should be so easy to implement as it’s already in the MP mode, and could be an on/off option just for those doesn’t want to do the qualifying session.
Another option is that the “challenge the grid” feature automatically pre-selects the position depending on the times you made in the open practice compared to the times the cars of the AI made. That would be also like a qualifying session.

Totally agree. It makes a big difference to the realism of racing along with a sense of achievment. I dont quite get why turn 10 think selecting your own position before the race is a good idea?
I agree we just need qualifying, I hate the select your starting Position system. Just let us qualify and start a race from there
