Is there already information about a real qualifying mode in Multiplayer?
It can’t be that all other racing games and simulations have had this feature
for 20 years, but the 1st Class Racer Forza still doesn’t ?
In my environment in my community, this is an absolute purchase criterion.
I just hope Turn10 finally listens to die-hard racing fans and drivers.

28 days and i’m the first to reply, sorry no one really cares about qualifying. Random starts are just fine!
When it doesn’t even matter who wins the race, why would it matter who starts 1st?

Forza 7 sort of has got a qualifying system in multiplayer.
The person who gets the fastest lap in the previous race will start in pole, you can also set a lap time if you have joined a lobby where the race has already started by choosing to practice while the rest finish there race.
Not all players want qualifying. More casual players just want to jump straight into the races, and for those races to be two laps. I feel like a good compromise is to have an option to skip qualifying, in which case you start in last place. Have race weekends like actual motorsports do with practice, qualifying, and finally the race, but an option to skip practice, skip qualifying, or both. Pair this with an option for longer or shorter races so serious players can run 20, 50 laps or whatever, while casuals can just dash around a couple laps and move on to Halo 17.
I absolutely agree! For the new Forza Motorsport I think the most important feature is training and qualifying sessions before race in the career mode. I think everyone is bored of all the arcade games like Project Cars 3, Grid and so on. We want a true motorsport game and without these sessions it is NOT a MOTORSPORT! I bet Gran Turismo 7 will not include these features (again), so the new Forza Motorsport could gain a huge advantage.
PLEASE BRING US:
- Training and qualifying sessions in career and multiplayer (take inspiration from F1 2020 for example) - can also be skipped for the casual players
- Pit stop strategies, tire wear
Make the game deserving its name - make it Motorsport.

Quote: I bet Gran Turismo 7 will not include these features (again), so the new Forza Motorsport could gain a huge advantage. What does this mean? Did GT6 have qualifying and people didn’t like it or what??
GT Sport has qualifying for the weekly races that aren’t in custom public lobbies.
Welp. We’re not getting qualifying. In fact, it seems like were getting literally everything BUT a grid qualifying option. We ARE getting a feature to literally pick whatever grid spot you feel like based on if you want money or not. And we get a free practice thats just cars rotating at spaced intervals. So thats… A thing I guess. But no Grid qualifying.
At this point. The only reason I can even possibly conjure as to why this has just been eternally sidestepped by the franchise is that they think its going to be too much work to get the AI to consistently place laptimes based on difficulty. Which is a ridiculous speculation seeing as the entire PI system from my understanding is based around simulated track lap performance.

Op asked about multiplayer which is getting quali
Theres a solution to that last bit. And its what you should do for all games.
We’re not getting qualifying because it wasn’t in forza 7 and this game is forza 7 with a few tweaks to graphics and game mechanics. Challenge the grid is a useless feature, the difference in credits is minimal, most people are going to place themselves first every time. Truly head scratching design choices this game has made.

I’m fine with starting last in every race. No one will corner bomb me and I just drive by everyone who gets bombed in the first couple of corners. No big deal…
I kind of like finishing somewhere mid pack where you have 2 or more other drivers battling for positions. Getting out front and driving a lonely race for a win has no appeal to me, it’s boring…

After looking at the demo last month, I had the feeling that the devs dont like racing games. The unenthusiastic driving, the cluelessness about racing lines (check here how much track is unused at corner exit), even AI at lower difficulty takes a little better line. The qualis are not in game probably because the devs can’t beat AI at lowest difficulty.

I could see where this would have to be a separate stand alone series where it allows you 1 hot lap attempt to put in a qualifying time clean or dirty.
Could you imagine how long it would be between races if everyone was allowed multiple laps to put up their best times. You might get 1 race an hour.
seems like you dont play much racing games that have quali
yes, that’s clear from your perception that adding qualification makes races 1 hour long.
Race can be 1 hour but not would be. You can have shorter quali and shorter race also. 15 min max. You can also skip quali if you want, it’s not mandatory.
Let’s see what they answer in next monthly.
