Is there a way to qualify in career mode? If there is practice, shouldnt there be qualifying or is it there and i don’t know how to access it?

You have that time at the beginning of a race, but it doesn’t place your position by time like true qualifying would. Instead you have to look at your time, and put yourself in the proper position on the grid in the pre-race menu. No matter your time you can not place yourself higher than 3rd place on the grid. I’m with ya, i’d rather have a real qualifying session.

P.S. I don’t know who they made this game for, but, it certainly wasn’t for people who have an interest in sports, it seems

They did it this way so that you aren’t just leading every race in the career. With this mechanic you’ll have much closer races with more passing. At least that’s the idea behind it.
Many of my career races i don’t get into a podium position until the penultimate lap, without having to max my difficulty making it so I’d need more then one lap to pass a single AI.

Personally, I always play on 6-8 difficulty as it is, lower than that is too easy for me. At 6-8 a true qualifying round would be nice.
It’s just giving the players choice. It must be straightforward to allow you to choose beforehand whether you want ”practice” to act as qualifying or not to lock your grid position in. As it is, I do that anyway but have to mess around remembering to move myself around the grid and, unrealistically, I can’t put myself on pole for “reasons”.

I don’t understand why they couldn’t just do Challenge the Grid with qualifying. Land pole position and want more of a challenge? Move yourself back for a higher payout. End up in the back and want a chance at winning? Move yourself up for a lower payout.

I normally place myself last in the grid at race time why? this way I get over 4k creds if and only if I get from 1-3rd place. Often that does not happen, but when it does, it feels good! btw you could place yourself first you just have to maintain it. but the bonus goes down which is kind of odd.

Happy holidays to you also. I have ai set to 8 and i leave myself at 12 and it usually ends up being a fight for first so i guess it’s ok, but to qualify would be a cool feature.

Oh no I agree, but for now however, I love the fact we can play how we want to, and we can modify stuff instead of being locked into “this is how it is.” forza has really opened my eyes in terms of different ways to get the same thing done.

I disagree that we can play how we want to, at least when it comes to career mode. They lock you in HARD in that mode to short races with no pit strategy… Then they pretty much tell ya, if you don’t like it don’t play it, and thanks for the dough

I also still don’t know if the tire wear aspect they say was fixed in private multiplayer applies to career and free play mode, i haven’t even fired up the game yet to find out, does anyone in this thread know the answer?
Well I don’t really take career mode seriously anyway. I use it just to level cars. I take featured online, rival and featured rival, and PMP (private multiplayer) more seriously, career is just for me to just play with. Lol! that’s just how I play though. It’s still fun.

I hear ya man, still though T10 is crazy locking down the single player experience as hard as the do. There is no call for it. Well there is, but, I’d rather be blowing off steam saying they’re trying to extort that $10/mo than to have it be true

I hope your holidays are good as well, and as for the driving, better to drive not to well in Forza, than in the other alternatives!
