The H pattern and sequential animations have been replaced. When using a sequential transmission vehicle the stick is moved up or down and returned to neutral during shifting. The same animation is now also used for H pattern transmission vehicles however the direction the stick is moved alternates to simulate a H patter. I find these new animations to be more than satisfactory while driving from cockpit view. Thank you for fixing a day one bug a year later. Actually that sounds terrible doesn’t it?
I know there’s at least one car (TVR Sagaris) which didn’t have its animations before and got fixed in one of the recent updates. IMO these bugs may have had to do with a strenuous development cycle and FH4 has its fair share of them as well.
Bug? Do you consider the steering animations, with no hand over hand in a tight turn, to be a bug? Was it a “bug” that pole position (1982) only had a chase-cam? Some of you guys are ridiculous.
It is nice to see that they are improving some of these things, but to suggest that they were being lazy about fixing this “bug” is asinine. The vast majority of players use the chase cam view, not the cockpit view. Any improvement in cockpit view is going to be seem by a tiny fraction of the people who play this game. I’m surprised they put any effort into improving it. I would certainly rather have race regulations sooner than improved cockpit animations.
Heck, I never noticed it when I was in cockpit view. The shifting is practically if not literally offscreen when it’s stick. Mind you, the steering animations which are more front and center never bothered me, either. The terribly narrow field of vision is the biggest immersion killer, I’d say.
Doesn’t sound right. Chase Cam in my opinion is suitable for kids playing GTA. There’s no way you can control the car as well as in cockpit or bumper. At least not for me. When I play Sims I want it to be a SIM. Can’t remember last time I drove my car IRL in Chase cam mode. I don’t think my car even has a mode like that.
Is it true? Do most of you guys play Chase cam?
The Toyota Hilux arctic trucks still has a paddle shift animation when it’s actually automatic and shouldn’t have an animation. On the other hand something strange has happened with the bone shaker and HW Mustang. For Forza 7 they have copied the models from Horizon 3 but have used the tech specs from Motorsport 6. The boneshaker has a 3-speed auto in Forza 7 as it should but in Horizon 4 it has a 6-speed manual despite not having a clutch pedal. Although it does give me a laugh seeing the drivatar doing a sieg heil every gear change.
This has been the case since day one. Also you’ll notice the when driving a paddle shift car (take a P1 GTR from my experience), the paddles actually move when you engage a gear unlike in FM6. I think this new animation is the reason why there’s a lack of shifting animations for some cars in FM7. It’s really cool, I just wish it were finished.
Yeah I notice all stick shift cars so far are all accurate but some of the paddle shift cars still need work. Almost there T10, why not just do a full job.
I originally didn’t mention the moving paddles cause I assumed that would be most noticeable. I’m sure most people noticed the broken sequential stick animations cause they’re visible too. A couple of classic Formula cars are missing their sequential stick animations or incorrectly have paddle animation despite not having paddles. There are a couple of cars 1 being an Audi that actually has paddles, however it’s the indicator and wiper stalks that get pressed when shifting which is amusing.
Normally this would bother me more – those are two of my favorite cars in the game – but at least we get a cockpit view sans hands and wheel, so shift animations aren’t quite as crucial to me anymore. That’s no excuse for not fixing them, however.
