If, for some reason, you stop seeing your car’s thumbnails, STOP PLAYING IMMEDIATELY AND RESTART THE GAME, or any progress you’ve made after this bug occurs will not be registered, along with the all of the rewards you’ve received!!! You won’t even be able to sell anything at the auction house because the system won’t be able to “authenticate your profile”. Once restart you’ll find yourself being reverted back to when the bug first appeared.
This is not a new bug, but it seems that the developers are still not aware of it.
I had that problem (missing images) on Xbox One X. It was caused by slow HDD. Haven’t seen missing images on Series X. Some games were still slow on external HDD but not after I replaced it with NVMe drive.
That is… bizzare. A slow HDD ? I should say I’ve not had the issue, yet. Now I’m going to have to look up some numbers to compare because I can’t imagine either my internal or external (I can’t recall off hand but think I installed the game on the external which should be the newer/faster one) are all that fast being they’re ancient. Any info on those which were problems being internal, external, speeds ?
Had this a few times and sent reports to the Devs.
Usual generic responses.
They say they’re aware of it but still no fix.
Been saving, exiting and shutting down console for 10-20 mins after a couple of progesss points ever since.
No way to play a game.
this happens to me way to often, ive lost hours upon hours of gameplay. what do you mean by cars thumbnails? cause i need to start spotting this sooner
I mean when everything is running smoothly, when you’re in your garage you’ll see all the thumbnails of your cars in it, right? When this happens, you’ll only see a white box. This often happens after changing the paintjob/ livery of a car. So, in short, when you’re starting to see white boxes appear, stop everything you’re doing and restart the game immediately. This will save your hours of time.
As an early adopter of this game, I was there to witness all of the bugs since day one. Firsthand. I might be lucky, but I haven’t experienced any of the symptoms you’ve mentioned. So no, whilst I’m pretty sure this is not a hardware issue, I thank you for your input. Cheers!
I’m not sure I remember ever actually seeing ALL of my garage cars. There’s always a few with missing thumbnails. Sometimes I have to get into my Rimac just to remember what it looks like.
And yet I’ve never had an issue through years of FH4 and FH5 since launch… on an old XBox One. So, are you sure it’s a hardware issue ? Specifically a HDD issue ? Or could it be something else ? Surely the HDD of much newer consoles are much faster and more reliable than my ancient bog standard XBox One original ?
This just happened to me. In the event that even restarting the game didn’t at least fix your current car’s thumbnail, repainting it should do the trick.
I really hope this gets fixed soon because this is still an issue for me and it 2024. Please tell be they have not ignored this issue for over 2 years.

SOLUTION PARTIAL BEFORE THE LAST UPDATE
Before closing the game, I go into the settings and make a change to any of the options. Do it at least 10 times
when you close the menu, next to the speedometer, the save symbol appears and then I close the game.

SOLUTION PARTIAL NO WORKING
After 80 min in-game, crashes every 10 min
Photos of all cars disappear in the garage and also in tunings
Temporary save lost
Constant stuttering and popping up for cloud and console save choice ( CONSOLE or CLOUD )
You can no longer change the settings and see a spinning ball
Choice of cars gets stuck in the garage
and many other bugs
The rest screen of the chosen car in the garage is eternally looping
A few months ago you could play 120 min without problems, doing the forced save and you could quit the game, after these Hotfix and Eventlab Island, it got a lot worse

Programmers or game developers need to look through the game’s programming lines and see if there are any open commands about GAME SAVE and what happens after PLAYING IT 80 MIN.
This problem has been going on since the game’s release

Thanks, this just happened to me I noticed the cars pictures were missing so I googled it and found this. Restarted my game and sure enough my playlist progress was not saving. Seems to be working fine now after a restart. I had just reinstalled the game onto a new SSD and this was the first time launching it so maybe that was a factor. SSD is a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVME so I don’t think drive slowness is a factor. At least not in my case.
After transferring saves from Xbox’s MS Store to Steam; all CUSTOM cars, or cars otherwise collected outside of scripted game events, lose their thumbnails. This is completely cosmetic, unless YOU corrupted your profile transferring saves, or encountered a bug. Saves can corrupt mid-game from bugs and bad connections as well. Or even power interruption mid-save.
HOWEVER; This is NOT a guaranteed sign of save loss. This happened to me and all I needed to do was modify the cars to get a new thumbnail photo rendered. Game saved fine, and nothing was lost, this was purely cosmetic, and it seems the majority of players agree.
Save data loss is a separate issue, despite both potentially occurring simultaneously
