Want faster ai?

,

Try turning collisions off. (under blind settings)

It is about 2 levels faster. So 8 (off) is a 10 (on).

That actually makes allot of sense.

Do they still rubberband?

No, I don’t think on or off have rubber banding.

Do I want faster A.I.? No. Faster isn’t exactly it. What I want is smarter, fair-er A.I. If I get that, then the speed will be on point.

Yeah, it’d be nice if the “I” in “AI” actually resembled intelligence.

Well they make less mistakes with it off also.

Is there any proof of rubber banding? Or is that something that just keeps getting parroted around here.

My understanding is that the AI just blows their knee caps out with a bat once there’s an object in front of them, which goes hand-in-hand with why turning collisions off (aka, removing the presence of said big ol’ objects), makes them faster.

It’s why the cars up front are the fastest. They don’t have to process any competing vehicles in front. The further you get into the mid-pack and rear, the more objects they have to have a stroke figuring out to handle navigating, the slower they get.

I’ve yet to see concrete proof of rubber banding.

Is the AI in Horizon better in general? I swear, just by momentarily swapping to the reverse view I can make the AI in this game crash out often.

Horizon’s AI feels like a textbook grid of arcade opponents. Simplified physics, heavy rubber banding. But it doesn’t bother me half as much as an AI that can’t run two-wide, offer space, nor figure out how to make a pass.

I was going to try and test if rubberbanding was a thing but its too frustrating for me with the game crashing when leaving races or navigating menus.

Once they fix the crashes on xbx for me ill give it a crack.

The career endurance races have rubberbanding. If you set up the same endurance races in freeplay theyre totally different because they don’t have it.

So recently I’ve been playing FM7 against the hard and higher AI levels. The racing is good. There’s no ramming and corner bombing. There’s a rare pitting fight on a corner but they a very rare. And usually easy to work through and keep on the track.

And what’s even the most interesting part is running AFK in FM7. (Have to resort to the old rubberband trick for the throttle) But when you’re approaching a slower AI car, they actually pull over to let you pass.

It’s almost like racing against real people. Of course a lot of forza racers wouldn’t understand that comment because they race like the AI in FM8 anyway.:rofl::rofl::speak_no_evil::hear_no_evil::see_no_evil:

Another interesting thing about the AI in FM7, when doing a long race on full sim. The AI actually do real time fuel and tire pit stops just like you have to do. It makes for grest pit stops and fuel and tire planning in a race. Man it’s amazing what this game could have been if they would have just taken FM7 and updated it.

The AI may sandbag (run slower than their true speed) if you are struggling for pace. However, they have a maximum pace which is relatively realistic and, if you are faster than that, they won’t rubberband to keep up.

Have you tested this?

The AI in F7 literally uses a HP cheat to be semi competitive also uses the rubber banding I’ve ever seen in a video game. Total nonsense

But since they arent effected by tire wear they eventually can catch up but can never actually pass you. Ive actually enjoyed the endurance ai much more than the regular ones as it could be more of a challenge especially when trying non-optimal pit strategies.

Interesting, so u can turn off collisions in ai races?

Maybe ai finally will be somewhat competive xd

Dids dude, I don’t know what game you’re talking about or remembering. But you’re talking total nonsense. You need to go back to FM7 fot a refreshing. There’s no HP cheats or rubberbanding that I’ve been encountering. But I’m not going to go on about it. Just go back to FM7 and get a refresher course.

The “I” in actual AI as we know it is far from intelligence as we know it. It’s more about probability than anything else. Most AI software - such as ChatGPT - are fairly convincing sounding BSers, but the data should never be trusted without double checking.

I’m wondering if the “AI” in this game is an in-house Turn 10 product, or a third-party product. The latter would explain why T10 has such problems with the tweaking…

Given that almost every aspect of the game has some form of bug or glitch. I would suspect the AI to be an in house product. A third-party AI would probably be closer to real AI.
