Maybe I am doing something wrong, or misunderstand how the acceleration and speed graphs work, but how can a car that has much lower acceleration and speed than my car out gun and pass me on straightaways?
I play on max AI and while I am far from a professional player, I am usually able to beat the AI given enough practice, but now I feel like I am playing Mario Kart without being able to hit the cars with turtle shells (no knock against MK as I love it for what it is). I do not feel like it was this bad before the latest update.
I would love to know if this is new or I have just all of a sudden become a worse driver?
Also I would love it if Turn 10 took a look at racing on Brands Hatch on an Xbox Series X, pause the game and go back to racing and the frame rate is now stuttering as opposed to the 60 fps that I have it set to in the settings. I could care less if you make the game look worse, I feel like I cannot race when the frame rate drops to 30 fps.
To put this in perspective, I never see frame rate dips in FH 5 and it is open world and looks 100% better.
I have tried to be positive with this game, but if Mario Kart AI is a new feature I would much rather play Mario Kart.
This has happened to me randomly since launch. To fix it i go back to the xbox dashboard then come back and its gone. It doesnt show up as dropped frames on my frame counter so i dont exactly know whats going on.
I first noticed the speed difference in the last update, the Ginetta series. Many people disagreed though but something felt different. This update the AI seems to have a grip / friction advantage, which can also lead to speed advantage on corner exit leading to a long straight, so who knows. I’d be interested to find out what was changed.
So I took a video of the cars with much less acceleration and speed over taking me on a straight-away but I am not sure how to post videos on this site. If somebody can share with me how to share from xbox app as this site will not let me upload a video. I can upload it to youtube, but then I would have to provide a snarky title to the video and I do not want to antagonize the developers.
@meckswell I know they are different studios, my point being that I would hope by sharing Forza in the title the turn 10 guys would have a standard by which to measure their new game. For the most part I have enjoyed the new Forza Motosport game despite all of its flaws/crashing/graphical glitches etc, but it seems like they may have ruined the single player game now.
As a side note I am looking forward to Playground Games (hopefully next game) fable. It has been a long time since I ventured in that world and the new title looks promising. =)
All this to say, the only way I seem to be able to beat the AI on max difficulty now is by treating the game as a demolition derby racer which is not good teacher for multi player races.
You can copy a link from the Xbox app and share it here, so just post it here. Go to the Xbox app, then click on the three lines at the bottom, I think those are the three lines, then click on a video of your choice and then you have the option of downloading the video or picture to your phone or you can click on the link, but you will see it then. If not, just ask and I will help you.
Like I said I am not a pro but my top speed should far exceed any of the other racers in the field and you will see their PI rating when I pause after getting blown away on the long straight. Maybe I am missing something but this seems all kind of wrong and only seems to happen after the last update.
It would be humorous if it did not completely destroy the single player mode in this game.
I just re-ran the Ginetta series and did not experience any runaway cars or rubber banding. I was out driving them on corners and redlining my car and was creeping up on them on straights catching them in corners with better driving. On PC btw. Did you ever get your video showcasing your claim uploaded?
How do you know what stats the AI car had? I’m not sure you can see those but I could be wrong. All I think you can tell here is that you had slightly higher PI but that does not mean you necessarily have better acceleration. Even if you can see the speed/acceleration stats they tend not to be accurate in the game.
Here, you were driving the Lotus 3-eleven - a nice fun car but, so far as I’m aware, not top tier. In contrast, the AI was driving an Exocet, one of the most overpowered cars in the game, which happens to hold the S class WR on that particular track and which has fearsome acceleration. It seems pretty realistic to me that the AI had a speed advantage in a straight line.
I personally haven’t noticed any change in the AI standard for the normal events. I would say that they are definitely more competitive in the endurance events, especially the Sebring one where they are very difficult to beat. However, it’s much better to have a challenge and (other than their tyre management is probably far beyond what any human can achieve) I don’t think that they are doing cheated times. I’ve managed to at least match any time that they’ve done.
In the first run, I ran 38.13 and finished 3rd. In the second run, I went with a better car (tune wasn’t great - I think it can actually do 42s) and finished in 37.06.
If rubber-banding was in play, you’d expect the AI to have gone much quicker but we don’t see that. Their best time was 38.15 as opposed to 38.08 when I used the slower car. Even if we look at lap-times they are fairly consistent, with a best of 48.3 first time and 48.1 against my quicker time. So no obvious sign of anything untoward, and within the margin you’d expect for the same car and PI.
@Jezza14 It is fair that I am not showing their speed and acceleration but they were 2 full points lower in acceleration and speed then my car but had a higher balance and braking rating. I have been playing this game a lot since release and I will say that the new AI feels broken from before.
I did say that I could be mistaken and I very well may still be mistaken but I seriously doubt it. As others have stated the AI appears broken with this new release. I mean I started the straights a good length before they did, I had soft race tires, didn’t spin out on the straight and with multiple restarts those 2 cars out ran me every race I ran on that exact straight despite being 2 lower in both speed and acceleration. I had I had the upgraded racing centrifugal charger and I got blown away. If you watch the video and see how they managed to catch up to me when I was actually not racing poorly, I am not sure if you are trolling or not.
Should I get good? Yeah and I should be better with how much time I put into this game, but these cars were rubber banding every restart despite me dominating them at the start of the race.
I think the video speaks for itself. If it is just a feature of that those cars are just God class then those cars should not be in the same racing class as the 311.
Here is another example from the same race on a retry. I am not sure how anybody is supposed to win against those cars in this race if this is not rubber banding.
The speed/accell number doesn’t actually mean anything. A given car with 5 speed value won’t necessarily have a lower top speed then a car with a 6 speed value. Especially once you start swapping engines and drivetrains.
Ive got a mclaren f1 tune that can get to 370 at leman full and its speed/accel rating is only 6.8/8.4.
I took a veyron, upgraded to same PI with all power mods(no race tires or aero) then did a basic low effort gear ratio tune, and with a speed/accel of 10/10 i hit exactly 30kmh higher then the 6.8/8.4(which had race tires and non minimized race aero)
Not a perfect test at all and i only did one run each but it illustrates my point. All that being said the version was much faster at the same point throughout,
