Virtual Rearview mirror for all views (consoles)

The only reason i do not play with the beautiful cockpit view is the (mostly) out of sight rearview mirror.
A virtual rearview mirror like in hood view as option for every view would be great!
Adjustable FOV would be great too.

Totally agree.

The main reason I don’t use the driver cam is because it’s so truncated it’s like driving with one eye closed while wearing horse blinders.

One of the key features that can lead to clean racing in Forza motorsports (may as well in horizon) would be an improved virtual mirror.
Here are some improvement to the consider -

  1. Enable it even in Cockpit view (was auto-disabled in FM7, without any option to enable), Not everyone has utlrawide screen to view the mirrors in the vehicle, Virtual Mirror should remain enabled even in Cockpit view.

  2. Gamma Brightness of Virtual mirror should match the rest of the screen or should be adjustable.

  3. Resizable Virtual Mirror - Viewing Distance can vary for people and some may be large screens, some small, resizing the mirror as per personal preference should help in usability.

I will like to retain this post as it is covering more and is formatted.

I’d like to see optional mirrors even in in-car pov. There could even be a couple of size options (s/m/l) to choose from. Specially with the emphasis on motorsport and racing, awareness of your surroundings is super important and for example now if I use a steering wheel with a dash cam (no on-screen wheel) there’s very little indication on what’s going on behind or next to you.

At least add those rear view mirrors with multiple panels that extend to the sides so we get to see more.

Driver view is the one I like but it doesn’t have a mirror and cannot look what’s behind me. An option to enable a mirror in this view would be great. Thank you.

Totally agree that a virtual mirror should be available in all modes. I usually prefer to be in dash view, but there is no mirrors at all. There really needs to be a wide view rearview that covers both rear and side/blind spots when outside of cockpit. The proximity warnings are ok, but they activate even for the car in front of you, sometimes making you think there’s a car to either side of you…

Psyke.

Indeed. In all views : even in Chase Near/Follow Low or Chase Near/Follow High. Just like in Grid Legends (which is the only game that proposes this feature that can switched on or off). I liked this a lot and kept it on.
It helps see the other drivers suffisantly in advance and anticipate the position on track and still see the track ahead (instead of moving the right stick to look behind which is absolutely not convenient and even absurd).

This would be a great upgrade for people that use wheel setups or non-chase camera views, or both.

Please add the virtual mirror to Cockpit and Dashcam views, perhaps as an option at least. Especially in Dashcam, the physical mirrors are often not useful. They’re usually outside my FOV or pointing in the wrong direction.

+1 on this request.

The default FOV in the cockpit view doesn’t even capture the left wing mirror. With an increased cockpit FOV, the left wing mirror can be in view. But the right wing mirror is always invisible in cockpit view.

Would like this to be configurable, where the user can choose which of the 3 mirrors should be enabled (left-wing, right-wing and/or rear-window).

I also want to use that camera but not being able to see the rear view mirror is a game breaker.

This is my number one gripe with in-car cameras in racing games. Flicking the right stick to see the mirrors causes the game world to swing wildly. Disorienting and not at all conducive to situational awareness while trying to negotiate a high speed corner in a tight pack of cars.

The bumper and hood cameras have a window representing the rearview mirror. Make that an option for both in-car cameras. Or better yet, all cameras! Rearview mirror at the top. Center, or to whichever side it is from the driver in the actual car. Bottom right and left corners of the screen… side mirrors if the real car has them. And for a little extra flavor, make them the same shape and relative size as the real mirrors in the real car. You have already fully modelled those mirrors in the game.

On a side note relating to in-car viewpoints, when I flick the right stick to look to the side or behind, why is the camera no longer inside the car? Get out your OG XBOX and plug in TOCA: Race Driver 2. When looking behind you in car, you are looking through the rear window of the car. Please keep the camera where the driver’s head is, and give us that full imersion.

please add it, shouldn’t be hard to do!

Oh, it is! Not an new request…

Virtual Mirror for Cockpit and Driver views absolutely need to be added. I know there are a lot of people like me that play in a more traditional sim racing style. I’m on PC with a wheel and pedals mounted to a rig using an ultrawide monitor with proper FOV.

I use Driver view with a FOV of 33, which is the proper calculated FOV for my setup. With that FOV I can’t see any mirrors whatsoever. A virtual mirror is a must!

Using Bumper or Hood view is unrealistic as it positions your view dead center of the car and moves your viewpoint way too far forward. I’m not going to use those views just so I can see the virtual mirror.

Please! Add virtual mirror to Cockpit and Driver views!

A cut and paste of what I put in another similar thread asking for added virtual mirrors:

This is an absolute necessity still baffeld why its not available in some view like chase cam and others.

Everyone is complaining about this
