Okay, This is the first time I’ve needed to show a photo on here, I hope I have used the correct method of uploading a photo, please don’t shout at me if I haven’t…
My problem; I painted on FM3, FM4 & FH quite a lot, mainly replicas. I’ve just started to paint again on FH2 (xbox one) and I need a bit of help. For my '49 Merc, I created a Perfect Circle logo, it looked pretty accurate and more than neat enough but when I shrunk it to put it onto the car it looks all pixelated, worse close up than the 360 does! Am I doing something wrong? I shared the design but I pity anyone who uses it!
when this happens to mine, i go into the area where you create the vinyl group, and just make the “actual” vinyl HUGE then, make it the correct size when applying it to the car. it’s worked for me so far, hope this helps! good luck!
Lay down a blank circle on the area you want to paint, resize the circle accordingly, now copy the circle and group the two layers. Save group and exit apply decal mode. This is your size/shape template and location tool.
Now go to decal creator and load the group, size your grouped layers as big as you need, excessively large is best, it takes a minute or two to resize to fill your screen. Now apply your new layers so the grouped layers act as a template. Once complete remove the two grouped layers as you no longer need them. Group the remaining layers and resize really small two sizes above minimum is fine. Save group.
Exit and return to apply decal.
Position car so area you need to apply decal is visible. Load layer group and apply, now ungroup, go to first shape that isnt part of group, click on resize but do nothing, regroup all layers again…now instead of large differences in available sizes you can finely adjust group sizing.
This will help with some of the distortion you get but as previously stated FH2 doesn’t keep your designs as smooth as other Forza decal/design editors have in the past, in fact I’d say FH2 is as bad as Forza Motorsport on Original Xbox with it’s jaggy decals.
Of you have Forza Motorsport 5 as comparison search for “Top Secret” its a Nissan R35 replica design I’ve done in FM5 & FH2, the exact methods are the same, the difference is shocking FH is highly blocky and pixelated, its the rendering methods used between the games.
Thanks for your help HLR Joker, I had to reset my xbox so I’m reinstalling everything and as I have slow internet, it’s taking a while! I’ll try your method ASAP.
