Unrealistic Shifting with race transmission

Yeah with a real clutch in every manual I’ve driven, the bite point is somewhere around 40-60% of the pedal, but in this game it won’t shift right unless it’s 100% clutch, which essentially yeah, turns it into a button.

That’s even besides the delay problem. The game acts like the manuals don’t have synchros, it wants the RPMs to drop before the clutch releases. You can get a faster shift with upgraded clutch/flywheel, but it’s barely any faster and you still can’t power shift, which is crap, it is even a feature in some tuning software where you can adjust the rev limit specifically for what they call flat-foot shifting. The cars are 100% capable especially with upgrades and they slapped some cheap limitation over it.

I’m going to try later to adjust the clutch dead zone and see if I can’t make it so it doesn’t require 100% of the pedal. It’s not going to fix anything but it might help it feel better.

I think the move towards more sim is correct, but if what you guys are saying is true i needs to be more granular and sim-like. Going back to a simplified system is not an option imo.

I don’t like how shifting is handled now because the clutch was faster while rewarded for being more difficult. Now, it’s both more difficult and slower, thus making it fully worthless.

Once a race transmission is installed, even with no clutches installed, manual shifting can be done as quick as you’re used to without using the clutch. Race cars already have this transmission so you can test this. For stock, non race cars, set the shifting to automatic, much faster than any other choice.

They need to lock manual w/ clutch behind simulation damage and change the mechanics to the previous Forza’s. Boom, power shifting solved.

The rev hang in every car that’s not a track/race car is unreal. Also, why have a working clutch with the race transmission if it’s not needed at all when shifting? The mechanic is broken. You press the clutch in and rev the engine in gear and it works, but it’s not needed at all when driving?

Hopefully T10 sees all of these complaints and fixes this issue.

What they need to do is get rid of the manual plus clutch advantage. Every single race car on earth can shift faster with a paddle shift and no clutch engagement by the driver. I know they want it to be more difficult and more rewarding so maybe award more cash or some other currency. But the fact is leaderboard times full of manual plus clutch is completely fake as anybody driving with a real clutch would get stomped by a paddle shift system.

You don’t say what the game has to be lol

The new system is more realistic and i really like it. This is thew way imo!

Since so many people still have no clue how the system works now it’s explained perfectly here:

I’m so tired of people complaining about changes. Maybe the same people that complained for years to get changes…

i am so tired of guys like you… guys who only played like 1 or 2 titles of forza and want everything to be a SIM. i play forza for over 16 years and it is and was always a simcade . we have 3 billion sim racers already and still the sim screamers arent satisfied… u sim screamers are only like 10% of the audience of forza . i played in the hayday of forza like fm2-3-4 the population on leaderboards went from 550000 (fm2) on leaderboards to 400000 (fm3)-330000 (fm4) - 230000 (fm6) the horrible fm7 like 180000 and now fm8 i see only like 28000. and games like dirt rally and wrc rally all are switched from simcade to sim . so how many simcade games we still have? F1 codemasters , forza and wreckfest (better physics than people think) .and now all sims (in abbreviation) ready?: ac, acc , iracing , rf1 , rf2 , automobilista , automobilista 2 , raceroom , liveforspeed, dirt rally , dirt rally 2.0 (near sim) late wrc games (2018 onwards) ., kartkraft. rennsport. and you guys still arent SATISFIED!!!

u sim screamers destroy the simcade franchise for us simcade lovers. i have a wheel and pedals an ac and acc , but i dont want sweat like a pig everyday to set the fastest laptime on a simgame like ac(eventough i am pretty fast on those aswell) forza is always and is gonna be a controller game for me wich i enjoy with simcade handling. but guys like you just want yet another sim and we simcade lovers need to go full arcade (need for speed) to avoid another sim. let me quess you sim screamers 2 want need for speed to be a full sim ? wouldnt suprise me at all.

games like acc what you simscreamers all want is heavily underpopulated like 6 lobbies with like 10 people in each. forza 6 hadf like all different classes (e-r class ) and all where full with atleast 18 people. so the simcade population is bigger only they scream less like you sim screamers. most simcade players just have a dayjob andf whant to relax after a hard day at work just play on a pad with easy controls. not some sh*t system with a clutch that you need to wait 2 seconds to shift and to make it a minigame on its own just to execute a shift.

forza is always been a more arcady game and competitor to gran turismo . i am not afriad to say its more arcady than gt (like 20% maybe)

here is a video for you a perfect example and explanation what forza is.

yeah i know but i need to lose 30 pi just cause the system is so bad and i need to install a race gearbox to get rid of the 3 second shifts. and manual or automatic isnt a option cause its so slow it annoys me (stated in my original post)

i dont think this the right way in my opinion . the manual with clutch always had a tiny advantage (like 0,1-0,2 on a lap medium size track) but not that big over a manual option. it was something to master (clutch ) . how the system now is with the huge delay is just a minigame on its own wich is wrong. instead of think about where to brake or go on the gas my mind is on the horrible shifting (non racerbox option installed) its a simcade no sim and i have neverv senn such a bad shifting system , even gran turismo (simcade more sdim than forza|)) has a full throttle shift system still…

you understand it perfect

everything needs to be more sim for you simscreamers like we dont have enough sims already… and how realistic is a v10 engineswap in a acura integra with fwd? its impossible, so sim this gen forza is (8)

Shifting takes time in real life and should take time in a simulator. Drive automatic or play FH5 if you don’t like it.

Yes shifting takes time, but when shifting between adjacent gears, the only mandatory delay is how long it takes me to physically move the shifter (my car is slightly slower than I can manage with my wheel setup due to a longer movement and age related looseness). I watch RPM either when trying to be gentle to the clutch (not a consideration in a track environment) or when doing something strange and jumping between non-adjacent gears (such as traffic lights changing)

While a good idea on paper, the implementation is horrible for people using H-pattern shifters and a clutch pedal due to multiple issues, such as bad clutch configuration in game (only 0 or 100%?), and the fact that the physical feedback provides a different timing then the game assumes (badly again). This feels like it was designed for controller users and not the wheel users that the setting was implemented to support (FM 3 I believe).

They need to prioritize the wheel users that need the setting, if they want a separate manual w/ clutch setting for controllers that is fine, but it shouldn’t ruin the experience for people using wheels. That or they could note that they don’t fully support all the wheels that they claim that they do.

Yeah I don’t know how all the boneheads can’t seem to grasp that I’m not talking about the new clutch system, which is trash anyways cause I’ve never seen a Ford Mustang, Veloster N, or Type R granny shift when racing, but that’s a topic for another discussion.
FH5 actually had it proper and I loved it. Every car that came equipped with an auto, DCT, DSG all had instant shifts with a stock trans just like they do in real life. I have to drop 500 car points to make a DCT shift like a DCT and that’s ridiculous.

Is the clutch really just on/off? I thought you could set it up in a very granular fashion? I totally agree that the wheel support is crucial to this game.

The telemetry seems to claim that it is, it may be displayed (or handled differently elsewhere)

i play on controller like for 16 years forza. and the system is just not made for controller either…

i have a wheel and a H patern shifter but only use it for real sims like ac ,acc . if i play ac and drive like the 3.0 rsr porsche (1980) race car , i go full sim and use the H patern. sometimes i miss shifted but most of the times i did right and even heel and toe-ed . cause its normal for me to use my feet and declutch and use my hands to use a knob to shift. (drive stick for 11 years)

the problem is on a controller its counter-intuitive , its a controller and its not normal to press a button ,wait, press another button ,wait and go.
it just doesnt work.
its like call of duty that if you need to reload and if you not wait and use the trigger it jams. its just pointless.

forza isnt a sim , and never should be.

how sim is it that you can engine swap a V10 into a acura integra and still let it be fwd , where is the gearbox gonna fit?

just ditch the system and go back to the old system , its only like 5-8% that started whinning about the full throttle shift .

and like someone smart inhere stated : the advantage of manual with clutch is gone , cause the time you take to do the whole process of decelarate , clutch ,wait . shift ,wait ,clutch ,go on gas , is the same speed as manual without clutch.

thats just broken cause in the previous titles (fm3-fm7) the mnaual with clutch was an advantage ( like 0,1-0,2 sec on medium size track) .
now its slower than manual and hella annoying

Not that much time.

And those are just real manual w/ clutch examples. I won’t even get into semi auto territory.
