I’ve tried so many times to like this game yet find it so underwhelming. I lose interest after one to two races. Six years for this? I think about all the times that the 12 points of road contact with the tires and other such buildup was advertised, yet we get a game with the most basic features like a career mode, stat tracking, etc. missing. I don’t play online. I want a single player career mode that tracks stats. This game has none of that. I preordered the ultimate edition and have tried to like it since I’ve been playing it since the three day early release. Will there ever be a career mode added? Will stats ever be added. I’d much rather have a game with these options rather than 12 points of tire contact with the road, which honestly doesn’t feel any different than any other racing game I’ve played, and pretty visuals. Very sad with the state of this game.
Not to undermine your complaints with the game, but i do wonder what T10 even advertised about the career mode leading up to release?
Maybe afaik they delivered exactly what was promised
Wish i could say they’re going to do a major revamp of the career mode, but they certainly haven’t hinted anything about SP tweaks besides AI improvements.
“bUiLdErS cUp”
That’s the “new career mode” they vaguely referred to pre-release.
I don’t recall them clarifying that the “bUiLdErS cUp” was such a short list of events or that there were no other single-player modes (other than free-play).
It seems this game was going to be much more than what was delivered. At least that’s what I was thinking and looking forward to before the final release. I could say more…
If you aren’t impressed with the improvement in game physics, it’s probably not the game for you.
This game has a lot of weak points but handling is far superior to previous titles.
While I agree it lacks a lot of stats. I don’t think the game was marketed with what you are looking for.
Why do people pre-order digital titles? It makes zero sense.
Honestly the handling to me doesn’t feel tremendously different from previous titles (but it does feel better). Even if the handling was 110% fantastic though, it still couldn’t make up for the many other things the game lacks/hasn’t changed.
I used to be;
top 150 Forza 1 Overall Leaderboards
top 250 Forza 2 Overall Leaderboards
top 2000 Forza 3 Overall (I got lazy)
Top 4000 Forza 4 Overall (life…)
over 100 000 miles driven in Forza.
I don’t think I’ve driven 1000 miles in Motorsport. Even bought a mid level wheel to replace my other wheels.
Used to live and breathe by this game. Now I am truly on the verge of hating this Franchise.
Have to agree with all you’ve said. There are some improvements in some areas but there are some loses in other areas. The Caterham being one of the most glaring loses. It’s like they never even read a single review of how the car handles. And it 100% obvious they never test drove one before setting up the car’s physics and handling for the game. Heck they never even got close to cooy and pasting from FM7 or FH5.
And then there’s the Ginetta that’s at the total opposite end of the spectrum.
Is a great car in real life but for some reason it doesn’t come across well in games which is a shame
Every time I try to use it in MP interior view no wheel the wheel appears and you can’t shake it by going into the pits or even quitting and rejoining. In single player when the wheel appears it disappears when the race starts but not in MP
So they can play it earlier than the official release date but after that it’s completely meaningless, well maybe not, you get a crown and double credits to spend, still it’s a gamble to pre order
I’d be happy if they just quit taking content away. Leave it all in the game.
I’d say it’s definitely less understeery than FM5-7, which was what made these driving models so awful in my opinion. It’s also more forgiving at times, definitely when you’re stretching track limits and in most previous Forza titles you’d be in the grass when 1/3 of your tire is touching the edge of the road. But it still feels very Forza-like, and with it having been advertized as Built From The Ground Up it shouldn’t be to this extent. If we’re going by all the other assets and functionalities ported from FM7, meaning they can date back to as far as the first Forza Motorsport, this could indicate a previous driving model was used and enhanced to build the FM one. But that’s just speculation, maybe they managed to build a very similar thing trying to build a completely different thing.
A couple of pre-release quotes:
“The Builders Cup is a spiritual successor to our community favorite career modes from Forza Motorsport 3 and 4. It takes the magic of what made those games so special, modernizes it and genre-blends it with RPG progression…
This is only a sneak peak of the Builders Cup Career Mode, the new car building campaign in Forza Motorsport. Designed to evolve and expand overtime – we’ll be regularly introducing new cars, tracks, championships and events…”
I struggle to match this with the reality. The reference to FM3/FM4 harkens back to a very detailed and expansive career mode which I recall saw us touring the world to try out different events. What we got was far closer to FM7 but nowhere near as detailed even as that game. How are there no race car events in the career whatsoever?
If the featured events had been added to it over time (and not then taken away) then I could get on board with the second statement having been met but, as it is, we have no more permanent championships than were present right at the outset.
It’s many years since I played FM3 but here’s what IGN said about it at the time:
“Forza’s Career Mode is dynamic, changing week-to-week based on what cars you own, what types of races you like to drive and how you drive. But in the first season, the calendar’s AI is still getting to know you. So most of the dynamic elements in season one come from your initial choice. The car you select determines not only the first set of races available to you, but begins to shape the rest of your season. It also has an impact on the cars gifted to you as you progress through your career…
Your first season consists of five events. Each event is two weeks long and can have quite a range of races. In the first year, you can expect most events to be three races long, with a few having upwards of six races. At the end of every other weekend, there’s a Weekend Championship. These are the backbone of the calendar and the one part of Forza 3 Career Mode that doesn’t dynamically change. It’s in these weekend events that you truly measure your skill as a driver and the progress of your career…
At the end of the season, you’re given a cash bonus and a stat tally for the year. You’ll see your total cash winnings for the season, experience earned and a few other nitty-gritty stats. As you progress further into your career, the seasons get longer as do the events. There are 220 total events in Forza 3, each made up of multiple races…”
Does that sound anything like what we got in FM23? It’s actually depressing to read back about what was in a game in the same series 15 years ago.
FM23
Get on a wheel, “understeery” is a result of controller mechanics.
It’s still simcade, but it’s getting closer to sim while keeping controller relevant.
I’m sure you can still get the crown and double credits today. VIP membership.
I like the game but not that much, plus what’s the point in double credits when everything is so cheap in the game
Cool cars i guess and a few driver suits
