This is a project that I started over a year ago, and it ended up becoming a group project over at Up 2 Speed Customs (www.up2speedcustoms.com). I’ve been tuning in Forza since FM3, and I wasn’t really all that happy with any of the calculators that were available out there. Soon the rest of the club joined in testing and offering up formulas.
Is it perfect? No, and it will never be. We are constantly working on it and everyone has a different driving style and will fine tune differently.
Will it make all of my tunes top-100 Leaderboard tunes? Nope. There are three parts to every car. The build, the tune and the driver (the most important part).
Will is provide a solid base tune? Yes it will.
We do not charge for access, and we don’t make any money from ads, nor do we plan to. This is just something we built for our community and decided to share it with the rest of the Forza Community.
I have a question, because you may have just saved me some time figuring spring rates for my base tune. I’m assuming you are the one who created it, what formula or equation did you use to come up with the spring rates. If you don’t want to say ,that’s fine too
I tried it out just to watch it do its thing. It could be maybe just me or my driving but the tune it kicked out for me needed drastic changes. Having said that I would recommend playing around with the spring setting tool, that’s most likely what happened when I entered a setting…I think it was +15. But all that aside, that’s some pretty slick work, I’d be lucky to draw a rough sketch of what you wanted to look like and while some tuners tune by “feel” my initial set ups are done with a calculator…the calculator also makes phone calls and you can get on fb…but anyway, nice job and people may want to experiment with it a little. It may not give you a tune to your liking 1st time
Thanks for the feedback. I have actually identified and issue with the fine tuning adjustments, in the way the percentages are applied. I will be working on a fix over the next week or so (real world work and family stuff not withstanding), and get it into beta. There’s ARB, Rebound and Bump fine tuning in BETA right now, and that pretty much shined a nice spotlight on the issue. Fine tuning still works, but it’s just in larger increments than intended (on some builds), which can lead to spring rate output that is much stiffer than intended.
I’m not particularly skilled at tuning, so calculators like this and the forzatune app help me greatly to at least have fun driving and not experience horrid oversteer, etc that so many of the base cars exhibit. So far I’ve found that for me anyway, this calculator does a much better job than forzatune on mid- and rear-engined cars. Good work overall.
NEW FEATURE: Total Suspension Fine Tuning - Stepped fine tuning for Spring Rate, ARB, Rebound and Bump. The percetatge stepping was also adjusted to make it more intuitive as well as a wider range. The formula has also been updated to keep the output in the appropriate range
NEW FEATURE: Drift Tuning: Drift Tuning has been unlocked. It’s uses the suspension & gearbox settings from the circuit tune (since that provides a nice balance), but the alignment & differential calculations are updated. Remember to set a lower top speed to get closer ratios for your gearbox. Please Provide feedback in the forums. Drift Tuning is still a work in progress
NEW FEATURE & MAJOR UPDATE: Tire Compound Selection (new feature) - Added Tire Compound selection for reworked Tire Pressure Calculation (major update) - Setting tire pressure to be as close to 32 PSI as possible once tires are at race temps. Tire compound also affects alignment if “Race” is selected. Bottom line is that we achieved the best overall handling results when warm tires were at 32psi regardless of what the tire temps were. As always, the output from this tuner is a starting point for you to continue tuning from. NOTE: Tire pressure output is assuming Daytime dry tracks. For night or wet tracks, adjustments will be needed.
MAJOR UPDATE: Adjusted Differential Calculation o make it more dynamic and more stable for all drive types - The majority of RWD and AWD tunes (some more than others) supplied by the tuner seem to exhibit higher than acceptable lift oversteer. To combat this, we have reduced the Rear Diff deceleration base number. This should help alleviate some if not all of the lift oversteer. If lift oversteer is still present, try lowering the rear deceleration until it’s acceptable.
Minor Update: Slightly Adjusted Base Camber Numbers
Minor Update: Reworked Rebound and Bump calculations
Major Cosmetic Update: Reorganized entry form to flow better and removed the “build parts” section because it was not being utilized and just taking up space.
Thank you to everyone who’s provided feedback & suggestions for both the 1.5.1 version as well as the 1.6.0 BETA. Especially Beef & Sniper for putting up with all of my changes in the beat (and lots of retuning), as well as FraidKn0t for his help with the drift tuning.
This version spit out tunes that work great for my driving style , out of the box. Unlike older versions did not worked for me. Anyone from all those great tuners that hanging in here tried it? Am really interesting to listen them opinions
I find this to be very cool. Thanks to you and your Club for creating this. I’ve been tuning forever and am brand new today to this game. Appreciate it.
