Instead of making a lot of smaller forum posts on topics separately, I thought I’d make one big post about FM6 in terms of the things that I love, dislike, or things that could improve.
First off, I’d like to make a point about the forums. It seems that 80% of all forum posts are very critical and harsh to Turn10 and it seems that we as fans are always nagging at them to fix something or add something in. I think Turn10 deserves some respect and appreciation for bringing us a very well-made racing game with amazing graphics and realism. Thanks Turn10 for letting me experience these amazing Forza games.
I’ll first talk about the things in the game that I love. It’s pretty obvious that FM6 graphics are incredible and the fact that they included effects like rain and physics with rain blows my mind. As my car sits on the track as I type, I notice sand being blown by the wind in front of my car. It’s these little things that make graphic realism what they are.
The physics seem very balanced. I have never driven a car around a track before, but if I did, I imagine that it would be very similar to holding a gaming wheel and having the whole racing game set up; aside from all the turbulence and shaking.
I love the massive car selection and how old models were brought to the game like the Mazda 787B.
In playing all game modes, Tag is by far one of my favorite gametypes.
The audio quality seems spot on and brings me more into the game.
Overall, it feels at some times that I’m actually racing if I have my headsets on and I’m fully engaged.
Now, I’ll go over some of the things that I think could improve. Some of the readers may disagree on my points, but this is all from my perspective of playing the game. If you disagree, please state why and how it would be better on your side of the argument or debate.
Firstly for the things that could improve:
I think there are a decent amount of tracks in the game, but not enough of a variety of tracks. What I mean by this is: I enjoy the number of tracks there are already, but the variety in drive style is just okay. I’ll also point out that tracks like Prague and Rio make it too arcade style for me and these tracks don’t even really exist. I really enjoyed Forza 4’s track list that included Tsukuba Wet, Sunset Peninsula, Mugello, Suzuka, Camino Veijo, Fujimi Kaido, and Sedona Raceway Park. To me, the tracks on Forza 4 were a lot more exciting than on FM6 just because of their variety. I know there is variety on this game also, but there was something special about the track list on FM4 that got to me.
Secondly: I assume not too many people (Maybe 40%) on the forums were a big fan of Tag Virus. I can only assume, but there were a lot of people, i know that. Tag Virus on FM6 is nowhere close to as exciting as on FM4 because the tag gametype only lets us race on Open Space Airfield or smaller parts within. On FM4, we were free to go on most tracks in the smaller version. I do love Open Space and its smaller variants, but tag over and over on it becomes way too repetitive. I believe 99% of all players would prefer tracks to come back if they had a vote to decide.
Also, for a gametype like tag, I don’t think having normal tracks is the only thing we should be restricted to even. Since Tag is an unrealistic gametype, there could also be a few unrealistic tracks. Adding small jumps to some kind of open space obstacle course for tag would be incredibly more fun to drive around in because of the new options for escape, or even team tactics to capture. This leads me into the idea of having ‘Tag Teams’ like elimination, with no radar. Basically a hide n seek game-type where one side runs and the other side must find them. Every round it switches and first to win 4 rounds wins the game.
It’s ideas like these that need to be experimented and tested. I never played Forza Horizon, and I’ve heard people say tag is much more fun there, but I also prefer racing on tracks more than an open world jumping through hills. I feel like Horizon goes too far on one extreme while FM6 is the other extreme. There needs to be a middle ground that combines elements of both games into one under the “Playground” mode. I believe my idea to be revolutionary for Forza sales. If one thinks it would ruin the game, let them think that. But I know it won’t because the playground section is just one branch that probably only 30% will spend most of their time in. The pure elements of tuning and car building can stay in Forza while at the same time have an unlimited fun factor. Right now this game is too limited.
Thanks to all who agree and have an open mind. Thanks to Turn 10 Studios for your creations.
