Honestly...Thank you Turn10

I’m not gonna sit here and whine and complain about what could have been or should be. Rather I would like to praise Turn 10 studios for what they ARE doing. In my opinion Turn 10 are going above and beyond compared to some other game studios who do absolutely nothing after a game is released.

I appreciate getting a FREE car with special art even if I don’t care much for the car make/model or concept of art. I will be happy adding a new vehicle to my garage to collect. I won’t be buying a game that doesn’t interest me to receive a free in car game. I also won’t complain about it, I’ll just continue to drive the other 400+vehicles and DLC and be happy driving the ones I do grab.

We must remember that Turn 10 is a business. Making media to entertain us and thats what they are doing in different ways. They have thier reasons for adding or removing content within their games. We can’t just demand things be done a certain way.

I for one am greatfull to be living in a time where I can enjoy a racing game on this level, graphics/content/people.

I could keep going on with this and that but I won’t make this post any longer. Just wanted to speak my mind. I also don’t want to offend anyone who has given their opinion in other threads.

With that being said, thank you Turn 10 for keeping me entertained.

Almost every game studio does this, sadly you just dont know how things work.

The car packs are payed for by us and allow turn 10 not to lay people off, the fixes are things that ought to be right because we want them correct and turn 10 should want to make a functioning product.

Glad you say “almost every game studio” and not all of them, because respectfully I have to disagree with you. I played a few other racing games in recent times while waiting for FM6 and some of them are more broken than the VSS Enterprise spaceship and with little or no success to rectify the issues. Yes, like Waldek said, there are a few issues here, but weighed up against the good things and some of the other available games on the market, FM6 is certainly way above most other similar games when it comes to “functioning” as you call it. As for the DLC, I very much doubt if the few cents we pay for that will help T10 to prevent lay-offs ( if thet ever become an issue).

Here’s the problem with forums and urban myth. Wherever did you get the notion that T10 have to make layoffs following a game launch?

It’s at this point that revenue is at its highest - they’re selling product. It’s also the point at which their workload is at maximum. Work will be underway on the next title and at the same time they’re now supporting and refining the latest release. DLC is a mainstay element of the series but its role is to keep players playing, not to try to hang on to a few staff in an abandoned office.

I agree. Am a halo fan so I did like getting the cool paint jobs on the mustangs. So many cars that I’ll not have enough time to drive them all anyhow. Amazing game that has me looking forward to alot of racing for a long, long time.

Likewise. I’ve never had a problem with the Forza series. I’ve been playing since 2009 and I love it. I think the problem is that there have been so many games in the last two years that have been released with major problems (AC:Unity, Arkham Knight(PC version), Driveclub etc) and several questionable issues( Overpriced DLC, microtransactions) that it has damaged a lot of gamer’s faith in the developers, so that when things change or are tinkered with, many cry out in outrage.

I may sound like a fanboy but I wish more folks would see the good in a game that has obviously had a ton of time spent on it than seeing the bad when it isn’t perfect.

In other words I think it is pretty cool that you took the time to say this-

There are plenty of things to gripe about, but there are quite a few things that are very, very good too.

+1.

@Dadio, this is typically the time studio’s usually lay people off. Just before to just after a game ships. It’s usually the same departments. It’s usually people from the art and assets teams. All the stuff has been made for the existing game, and the new game is only in pre-planning stages. So Art and assets simply aren’t needed in big numbers, so often they get laid off. There were news stories about Turn 10 doing this exact thing around the time of Forza 4. Almost all developers try to match team numbers going from one project to another, but often some people need to leave, and some people of different skills come aboard. It’s not a very secure sector to work in. My friend works in software dev and he’s been laid off several times and he was building vital air traffic control software for the whole of the UK! So even vital systems aren’t secure job wise. If you’re just making games, it’s even worse.
Most devs get away with it because people expect it, so they don’t need to feel guilty. It’s slowly starting to change, as i said with teams being matched from one project to another. But this is exactly how it works across the industry. The sudden influx of money has no bearing on this at all. It seems wrong, mostly because it is, but that’s how it goes currently.

Great original post - Doubleplusgood - and I have to confess, a couple of comments in the last days, especially regarding the last DLC, update, and announcements made me very upset.

The Forza games are great, T10 is doing a great job here - And off course, not all features, DLC etc. are made for me. But by the other hand, here is more entertaining and addictive content available for me than i can spend time for … so for unforeseeable time I will have a lot of fun …

Long-time FM fan here and loving every moment of what FM6 has to offer.

Just hope they bring the sound up to FM5 standards. I’m sure they will over the next few months.

Great game, and getting better over the years. The only reason I bought an Xbox 360 and Xbox One. I’ve complained myself about a couple of things in FM6, but for me it actually is a better game than FM4. One of my favorite things is tuning. It’s nice the way you can bounce between test drive, tune and upgrade now. And making credits for racing leaderboards…whoa.

Well said, as I too only bought both 360 and one due to forza titles. Probably would have gotten 360 anyhow though if only to finish the original halo series. I loved fm4, but I haven’t been back except once since I got fm6. When it becomes backward compatible I probably will play some just to finish the rest of the bucket list.

Sorry, for me the game is not as good as Froza 4 and 5 was. Also Horizon 2 was a lot better than this is.

Lot’s of cars? Ok, but many of the cars are same with different paintjobs, example Formula E.

Nearly 90 % of all the cars are recycled from Forza Motorsport 5 and Horizon 2. Except of the Ford GT, there are no new exciting cars.

Also, driving a BMW on bernese alps feels and looks exactly as driving it in Forza 5

There is no freedom of choosing AI cars, and the weather and night system is poor in comparison to Project Cars and Horizon 2

Menus aren’t as well organised as they were in Forza 4,5, Horizon 2.

Also graphics are really dissapointing.

For me Forza Motorsport 6 is more like Forza Motorsport 5.1

The point of my post is NOT to make the poor Turn10 developement team hide in a corner and cry their asses off because they did something wrong and I’m such an evil mofo.

It’s all about improvement.

Why isn’t Gran Turismo 6 as popular as Gran Turismo 5 was? Because they made very less improvements and recycled a lot. And that was also the reason why I jumped from Gran Turismo to Forza.

Looking at Forza Motorsport 5 and Horizon 2, the improvements made to Forza Motrorsport 6 are very very poor, in my opinion. Some things even became bad.

Right now, Turn 10 didn’t use their full potential on Forza 6.

Just don’t play it is not what you should say to a big Forza fan like me. I had big hopes when I pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition for over 100 bucks.

But now it’s “Hey eat what you get and don’t dare expecting more.”

Btw, this is a discussion with diverged opinions. If you guys want “pure positivity” without questioning, you should go to a sect.
