Turn 10 please explain! Most of us are very dissapointed to say the least!

Hello to all Forza fans and to the Team at Turn 10

I originally responded to the post titled ‘The Smokin’ Tire Car Pack’. However since then I have noticed that many of you out there are feeling ripped off, once again by Turn 10’s choice of cars added to February’s DLC Pack.

It has a couple of awesome cars, however I do wonder if the rest of the cars were converted from either Forza 4 or Horizon, and then polished up with new textures and lighting, in order for Turn 10 to meet the required deadline, or the release date for the monthly DLC pack!

Even though it’s an assumption, I think Turn 10 should be honest with us and just tell us if this is true or not! When you think about it, It makes a lot of sense because the game only came with approximately 200 cars, now we can only assume that Turn 10 would’ve commenced work on Forza 5 after Horizon was released, or at the very latest around 12 months ago! When they started the project they would’ve had more people on the project (Forza 5) than what they have now after the game was released.

Therefore there would be a small team of Turn 10 staff that would be working on the DLC’s, definitely not as many as there were when the project started because you would’ve had a team working on the circuits and another team working on the cars, and the intense work that’s involved in researching each car, spending more time modelling and rendering, more advanced texturing, lighting and that fact that they were working with new code for the Xbox One’s OS, and I’d say this is the main reason why there was not as many cars and circuits in this version of Forza!

Also the fact that being one of the first games released on the new Xbox platform, they were probably playing it safe by not adding to many features that might have caused more serious bugs or frame rate issues!

Now when you analyze the selection of cars in this up and coming DLC, we have approximately 3 to 4 cars that have not appeared in any of the Forza versions including Horizon, and the rest of the cars in the DLC have been in either Forza 4, Horizon or both.

It never made any sense to me why they couldn’t convert all the other cars from Forza 4 into Forza 5, and like I said in my response to the DLC topic, even if the cars weren’t compatible with Forzavista, I’m sure most of us would’ve been very happy indeed if we had all those extra cars.

If you have time to read my response from earlier today, it is lengthy but I’ve already a lot of other peoples responses and they too, feel exactly the same about the DLC packs and the money we’ve spent on them!

For those who do feel the same way as myself, I’m sure you’ll agree with my points in response to the selection of cars the team at Turn 10 have chosen for the last two DLC’s, although there have been a few cars that were chosen wisely, but most of them are rubbish!

I’m now venting my spleen!

Please read guys, and give me you thoughts! I’m sorry that it is long winded, but I’m sure a lot of you will have your own thoughts about this discussion!

Note, I do understand that their will some of you that may like all the cars in the DLC’s so far, however I’m basically discussing that since Forza 5 already has a good variety of your older and common cheaper cars, it would be good if Turn 10 just added more of the classic/vintage racers and modern supercars that would be new to the Forza series!

Like I suggested; The Lamborghini Veneno, Russian Muska and the new Toyota FT-1, and I know many of you out there have plenty of awesome suggestions as well!

Now for you guys at Turn 10! I

I personally appreciate the hard work and the tremendous talent that goes into creating these masterpieces, but putting that aside, seriously guys what are you doing???

I’m afraid you guys at Turn 10 Studios are ripping us off completely, or at least lacking fresh creativity and spark! It’s as if you guys are taking the easy way out of delivering fresh and exciting car packs. It makes me wonder if you guys are just converting at least half of the cars from Forza 4 or Horizon into Forza 5 just so you can meet the next DLC release deadline!

I still have my Xbox 360 and still play Forza 4 as well, mainly because there are cars and tracks I still like to race with that are not available in Forza 5!
First question is why didn’t you guys just convert all the cars from Forza 4 into Forza 5 anyway, even if they are not compatible with the Forzavista mode, at least we wouldn’t have been ripped off paying for the DLC packs for cars that we’ve had in Forza 4 and Horizon, as well as cars that are so similar to the existing cars! It’s a huge disappointment after waiting a month for the next DLC to arrive, only to find cars like the old Toyota Celica’s and the Nissan Fairlady’s that in the non virtual world, these are cars we see everyday on the roads, or most of them are sitting in Used Car Sales Yards, or your average hooligan who has just got their license and they’re Ken Block or Daniel Ricciardo driving one of these cars like a complete maniac, and the fact that these cars are pretty much your average rust bucket!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a lot of the classics, but come on, there are your typical common everyday cheap cars and then there’s you absolute classic (Vintage) cars that car enthusiast treat better than their wives or in some cases their husbands! Yes that’s right, there are many women out around the world that have a passion for cars!

Not all is a complete loss, because in February’s pack two great classic cars are included, which are the 1968 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale and the 1966 Chevrolet Nova SS. So whoever was the staff member at Turn 10, or the group of staff members that decided on adding these two classics, you should give yourselves a pat on the back!

Mind you in Forza 4, we’ve already had the pleasure of driving the 1966 Chevrolet Nova SS, so it would’ve been better adding a different car to this pack that’s fresh, exciting to drive and would look amazing on the circuits and in Forzavista mode!

Before I sound like I’m being too unreasonable or unfair to the guys at Turn 10, I will say that the initial cars that were chosen to be part of the original content on the disc, covers a diverse rage of cars for each class of racing, and even the first two DLC packs were quite good as well!

However in this up and coming DLC pack, there’s only 2 cars that I am really excited about in this latest DLC! I will admit though, there are another two cars that I don’t mind as well, but the others are huge disappointments considering we already have cars in Forza 5 that are very similar, and this is why it makes me wonder if it’s a cop out by Turn 10, and whether or not these cars are simply being converted from either Horizon or Forza 4 and polished off Forza 5, just so Turn 10 can meet their monthly deadline for the DLC releases!

I wouldn’t be so picky if Forza 5 wasn’t so limited by the number of cars compared to predecessor Forza 4, but the truth is, when you look at the total number of cars that came wit Forza 4. including the DLC packs as oppose to the amount of cars in Forza 5, I personally think it’s significantly important to deliver only the best cars each manufacturer had and has to offer!!

The cars we’ve seen for this up and coming DLC pack, as well as the previous DLC’s, I doubt very much that whoever is making the decision of what cars to add to DLC packs, that will we see any amazing cars!

Now for example,

How many more Ferrari’s do we need when we already have a great variety which includes some of the old classics, and as well as the LaFerrari! Was it really worth it adding the Ferrari FF!

Just to prove to you all that I’m not being bias, since my favorite manufacture is Lamborghini, and my favorite Lamborghini model is the Reventon!
Now with the game already being limited to so many cars, why would you have the Aventador LP700 and the Reventon when there is only a slight difference in their appearance, and when you’re comparing the performance between both cars, again there’s not really a great difference to substantiate having both models in Forza 5!

Instead of having the Aventador LP700 that looks similar to the Reventon, they could’ve added the Aventador Spider which is the convertible! At least there is a huge difference in looks between this Aventador model and the Reventon! The spider model is very sexy indeed!

As for cars like the Toyota Celica GT-Four ST185, this is a rally car and we already have a Celica that looks similar to this model in the game!
Once again it’s a waste of space, and in it’s place it would’ve been great to have received a car that’s new to the Forza Series.

Now the Audi RS 2 Avant is a station wagon!!! Who wants to race a family station wagon with the kids fighting in the back, the whinging wife in the front passenger seat and the dog in the back drooling all over the interior upholstery! Even if it is an Audi! By the way, we already have an Audi station wagon in Forza 5!

Regards and happy racing!

all cars had to be built from the ground up as did the whole game due to new coding.

Sorry that’s incorrect!

All of the OS’s on the Xbox One were developed from the ground up, but the code they use is still C++ which is used to code Xbox 360, PC games as well!

However, they do use new developing tools for loading textures etc… which were specifically designed from the ground up for the Xbox One OS.

I can tell you now that it is possible for developers to write an app that can convert the cars and circuits from the 360 to the Xbox One, however they would still need to work on texture improvements, specular lighting etc…

Like I was saying in my topic, Turn 10 simply didn’t have the time to include all the other cars, or more than 200 hundred of them if they were all going to be compatible with Forzavista mode, improved shadows, texture lighting etc…

The other major point is that Turn 10 basically played it safe since they were coding software for a new OS on a new generation console, as well as the fact that the game was one of only a handful of games being released for the Xbox One day one launch!

You posted in the stickied DLC discussion thread but thought it prudent to create an entirely unnecessary new thread to also post the same thing?

Don’t do it again.

Thank you.
