A Plea to Turn 10

Okay, first off, this is not a thread for bad mouthing Turn 10. I respect them, and love their game. But after this last unveiling of The Smoking Tire Car Pack, respect is being slowly lost.

Forza Motorsport 5 is an awesome game. I love the feel, love the new physics, the graphics are stunning and some of the new features, more so. But Turn 10 has always been considered a “community listener” and it feels like that has faded away. This last car pack released 9 cars that were from Forza 4. Now I love having most of them returning, but not in the same pack. And the one new car will be fun to play with, but I doubt anyone asked for a Fiat Punto. It doesn’t seem like one car from the Wishlist thread has really been answered, or at least not the most common ones everyone wants in. Along with countless features in the game that people have asked to return, but no word on whether or not they will from Turn 10.

I just wish that Turn 10 would begin listening to what the community wants in this game. I understand possible licensing issues and time restraints to see what makes it into the game and what won’t, but I don’t know. This doesn’t feel like the old Turn 10 anymore. We, as gamers (UPDATE: Regarding to a majority of people on the forums from what I have read, but not necessarily meaning everyone), don’t feel like they are listening to any feedback regarding what cars should be in or not, features and other things like that.

I was happy when they did the update and dropped the price on some cars and made it a bit easier to obtain cars, because they answered to the community. But it doesn’t seem to be there in a whole. Hopefully they will answer back as to what is going on with these games lately and why certain cars are in and others aren’t. I know that by the time Forza 6 hits, we will hopefully be seeing more and more new cars added like the old days once the list gets a little more populated with vehicles that used to be in.

But you are losing loyal fans, Turn 10. I know a lot of people who didn’t get Forza because of this. I stuck it out and will stick it out until Forza 6, but if things don’t change, rivals like the incoming Project CARS could easily steal this fan base if they do it right, and as a fan since FM2, that would be sad to see happen.

So as I said, this is in no way a thread for telling Turn 10 that they are terrible, because they aren’t. It is just a plea to listen to what the community is saying.

Thank you.

Speak for yourself. “We” is inappropriate.

Dude, you’re one of maybe three people I’ve seen on the other side of the issue. And I don’t think you’re really opposed to what the OP is actually asking for- that’s something everyone would benefit from.

I updated it to make it a bit more appropriate.

Thank you. You make a good point. Something I don’t see much, which I think would be useful as well, is some sort of reasonable suggestion for what to do exactly. A suggestion that bears in mind that T10 has said that is takes something like 6 months to make a car and a year per track.

I am somewhat disappointed in this car pack too. Not because the cars were in FM4 or Horizon. To me that is a separate chapter and we have 10 cars new to FM5. But do the cars add anything new to FM5? Some do, some don’t.

But with regard to listening to the community it takes time. Not so much that it takes time to listen but it takes time to complete content once they have listened. Request cars now and they may be ready for Halloween.

Your point towards the time for them to complete content is true, as I stated above, however, it has been nearly a year since Forza released the forums Car Wishlist thread and people were asking for certain cars way back then. Each car takes approximately 6 months to create, so they had time to create cars that people wanted and I am sure could have looked at what people wanted back in FM4 and Horizon as well. I doubt that they started all of the cars for the car packs by then E3 of last year though.

You’re kidding - right??? Say that out loud while looking in a mirror. Are you laughing yet?

It’s not just the composition of the DLC Packs to date. It’s the fact that while around 17 of the 20 cars were in FM4, the only way you can have them in FM5 is to purchase them. That’s 1/3 of the 60 or so cars that cost you a minimum of $49.99 US. (extrapolating here that each of the 6 packs will have 10 cars). That’s just about the cost of the basic FM5 game to begin with.

WE ARE IDIOTS TO PAY FOR THAT - but then again WHO KNEW that’s all we were going to get for the first $17.00 US. Maybe T10 will make us all eat our words and the next car pack will be 50 free cars. followed by all new cars in the next one of the monthlys. YA THINK???

Unfortunately, it does seem like the Forza franchise is in a period of transition and rebuilding. From the vehicles to the tracks, everything is being redeveloped. I believe Turn 10 wants to bring the car count back up to level that we are used to; but, with the extra work of remodeling vehicles and prepping them for the future generation of Forza, there is a need to cover the overhead of doing so.

As much as many would like to think that porting over previous models would suffice, the future is bleak for a rendering that was built by Xbox 360 standards. I’m willing to bet, the vehicles we have in Forza 5 are being recreated to be useable in night time and weather environments - things that previous models would, likely, be incapable of. With that said, the model quality of the vehicles we know and love from previous iterations must be updated. As we know, there is no ‘premium’ and ‘standard’ levels of quality in this franchise and it most certainly will take time to rebuild a series that focusses on the combination of car quantity and quality.

As a result, DLC has become a cost-effective means of reintroducing familiar “faces” while getting a return on the work that is being re-accomplished for the sake of maintaining the Forza level of quality.

Then again, I could be completely wrong but if we put ourselves in the shoes of a company/businessperson who has been asked to bring their product up to a new standard of quality, we certainly wouldn’t expect that kind of work to come at the cost of ‘free’. DLC helps finance those recurring expenses. Mark my words … 10 years from now, we’ll be seeing the exact same cycle with a new gaming platform.

Definitely, if you look close enough into each vehicle, you will realize that they all have working lights now, currently only in Forzavista. You know that means that they are planning night time racing and I am sure we will most likely see it in the next Forza. Now, I am perfectly fine with them rebuilding the car list ever so slowly, but I think what a lot of people would prefer to see are more new vehicles that were never in past Forzas. If they would at least do a car pack with 5 past cars and 5 new cars, I would be perfectly happy. But some of these vehicles don’t need to be in the game until certain other cars are. If they really wanted to build it back up though, then they probably should have held off on another year before releasing it. That would mean this game was released too early.

I’ve already stopped playing Forza 5 regularly. I sign in twice a month now to collect my car pack cars and get my reward credits. Then I spend maybe an hour on multiplayer and tuning and then wait another month to be dissappointed by the 2 new cars in the DLC pack.

Based just on the trailer for Project Cars I’m already a convert.

Sorry Forza. You had me for almost a decade. But you can’t make a game in this day and age that only has 12 tracks. It’s just not enough. Tracks are far far more important than cars.

I’m in the same boat as you, I’m not satisfied with Forza 5 and it has little over PCARS

Take a look at Forza Motorsports facebook page. The last 2 posts they made had to do with the Feb. DLC cars, boy they had about 800 comments and only about 5-10% of the comments were positive. Alot of upset people from issues such as the game being “half completed” tracks missing, “dlc cars being bad” glitches etc. If turn 10 didn’t see the complaints here on the forum they sure saw it on their facebook page.

What exactly is the purpose of this thread?

Is it a car wishlist? A track wishlist? A rant by someone who does’t like any of the cars in the upcoming DLC despite those cars all being someone’s favourite?

this is what make me laugh about these kind of threads im sure people think these packs are released just for them, you may not like the pack but i bet someone loves it.

i too am not that excited about the feb pack i cant wait to see what can be done to the celica and i do like the Fairlady Z but i despise the Z8 and the FF, but i also understand that the world doesnt revolve around me and i know from the guess the dlc thread that a lot of people where hoping for the FF’s return and i should imagine that the z8 is well liked.

The purpose is to plea to T10 to listen and acknowledge that we are heard. It’s probably to much to ask for them to respond to so many issues personally on the forum, but at least making a nice news update with their plans for the game and it’s DLC this year would go a long way. I’m growing quite bored already, and it could be because I put so much into FM4, but I’m craving a new fresh experience already, FM5s newness has worn off and I don’t see it returning until FM6. Maybe T10 can change that, maybe not.

“I just wish that Turn 10 would begin listening to what the community wants in this game.”

That’s what I got out of the post, and it can applied to more than one specific DLC.

Had not heard anything about Project Cars until reading this thread. Just checked the YouTube clip.

All I can say is that I am willing to bet Turn 10 are working madly to have a release out ( A very big update or Forza 6 ) around the same time, I am sure they will blow our minds ( they make Forza right?)

I think they will have to because as much as I love Forza 5 and will always play F5, Project C is going to be some serious competition for Turn 10 especially if it ends up as good as it looks.

Cant wait to see what happens.

I understand your point. I can’t remember anybody asking for the Abarth Punto, but I really enjoy seeing some of the old cars coming back. The Alfa 33 Stradale was a monster in A class and it sounded like nothing else I has heard in FM4 (thanks to the improved audio in FM5, I have already spent countless hours tunnel blasting with my friends. I think this will be one of the cars that gets used more times than most cars.). The 300ZX was a fun car to use in FM4; it wasn’t that great, but it was nice to drive along with most other cars that are in the pack. I can understand your disappointment to a point, but most of the cars in this pack are really deserving of being in FM5.

The handling in Pcars is awful at the moment, I was hoping it was because I was using a control pad (no pc compatible racing wheel when I first got it); now though I have a thrustmaster TX and Pcars handling is just as bad!
On my pc I have Race room experience, Iracing, Assetto Corsa, Pcars, and a ton of other racing games. Assetto Corsa and Pcars are both still in development, handling wise Assetto Corsa is far far better. Pcars at this precise moment in time only has a graphical edge.

@BeefSupreme42: I asked for the Abarth Punto a long time ago on the old forums. I have owned a 1.9lt turbo diesel Grande punto sporting in the past and it was an awesome little car, the Abarth Punto was what I really wanted though; and now I can finally have a version of it in Forza.
