I thought I was going to despise this trial, but it was pretty darn fun!
Tried many cars to see what would work, and most of them pretty much all ran the same times on race 2 - Lookout.
So picked a car that I knew would dominate race 1 and 3 circuits - never made it to Jardines.
My choice:- Meyers Manx - with GreetedDust’s RWD tune.
I tried to make my own using his as a building block, but I couldn’t improve on it. . . .solid!
Chances are you won’t do very well in the Lookout circuit with it.
Not quite enough top speed to hang with those V8 boys.
COMoonstarz11 - Event lab is 100% solid to use for test races - he makes exact copies of the Trial races. And hard to beat since he uses - Unbeatable skill for all of them.
Here is my time for the Plaza Circuit race using his Event Lab named - Test map 0630 01
I think this is a pretty good time, so . . . .
Set up his Event Lab, do the race, and post your pic with your time to impress all of us!!!
Guess you could consider this a VTW - Virtual Team Wars . . .
Something to do rather than reading the negative all the time . .

This trial made me so happy! A D class race series which wasn’t cross country in buggies! I ran a Datsun 510 to great effect with I believe vintage race tires, took 1st and 2nd. Great little car for the twists of Guanajuato but I was definitely eyeing up the Manx. Solid job taking a win with one!
I am so, so glad D class has not been forgotten by Playground.
I didn’t time myself, but used an AWD Elan. Super quick crisp packet if you don’t wanna use the GTA Beach Buggy.
I made the unfortunate choice of the Mercury Cyclone Spoiler for its top speed…and then saw that the first race was in the city. Ugh.
You only have to check the Rivals leaderboard for how quick the Manx is, it’s not some big hidden revelation that it’s by a long way the best on the tracks used in the Trial and 1 of if not the best in the whole class, not just within the restriction.
For all the other choices excluding the '74 Civic the Rivals thread on here is the easiest place to find out.
I enjoyed this one, too. D class classics! I settled on the fractional Porsche and finished ahead of the rest of my team - 1st and then 2nd.
I think the Trials are boring now that the AI shows up in stock cars instead of matching the players PI levels.
There were AI with D200 and 300 cars so it was kind of a joke.
I hope they will revert this unfortunate change.

Nothing unfortunate about it it’s just poor, a poor choice that defeats the whole point of why the mode was there originally, now it’s more like a Tour just without the drive to events.
I know it’s you but all the same please don’t refer to something they clearly chose to do as ‘unfortunate’ trying to sugar coat it, it’s either just a bad choice or if it isn’t something they intended it’s incompetent.
The original point of it seems to have been to be a pain in the backside. I’d say THAT was the bad choice and good on them for changing it if not for the fact that the method of change seems accidental.

Can’t say that I’m surprised to see this snide reply coming from you.

The original intention was that it was meant to be challenging, hence why it is described as the ultimate test of driving ability. It worked pretty well to be honest throughout FH4.
However, it seems that the constant whining that it was too hard has caused them to completely neuter it. The reality was that most people would have been fine if they’d spent a little time choosing a sensible car and practising the tracks but that’s “too difficult”. Sadly, it’s no fun at all now most weeks. Very disappointing.

Sadly we seem to have moved into the age of participation awards. You can’t say git gud, try harder or find people.

I got lucky with it. Almost all of my teammates dropped out in the first race and then we got joined by an 80’s S2 class Ferrari in the second game. Because… Forza. Can’t complain, because he got us an easy win
That’s what I said. Even at the current level of challenge there’s often been a couple of people struggling at the back end. For many people it’s clearly still challenging. And I suspect most of them don’t need the AI metaphorically stepping on their sensitive bits to enjoy themselves.

It isn’t snide though, it’s correct.
Unfortunate suggests an element of luck or something beyond PG’s control, of which the change is neither.
Not wholly. Unfortunate can also mean poor, bad, unfavorable or regrettable - such as in the context of an unfortunate choice.
Oh I agree I use the term myself sometimes for certain things.
When it’s that poster of all people though it just reeks of sugar coating, as if it would permanently wound them to ever direct a straight up negative word towards PG.
I agree that it worked well in FH4 most of the time but I think that’s mainly because:
a) It wasn’t a real necessity to complete the Trial to get to 80% (IIRC it was worth as much percentage as a normal championship) so people could easily omit it whereas in FH5 it’s really hard to get the 40 points without the Trial.
b) The general difficulty of the Trial in FH4 was lower so there were only a few really problematic Trials in FH4 (S2, some CC events and I think some S1 Rallye Monster Trials). I’m not a good driver but in FH4 I could easily defeat the AI in most lower classes, often even finishing 1st while in the typical FH5 Trial I usually score 300-500 points. And in FH5 I’ve seen lots of lost Trials in classes that would have been a breeze in FH4.
The system is probably a little bit too easy now (however there are still people finishing behind the AI) but I find it much more enjoyable than before.
So . . .the original intention of this thread was to add a little competition and enjoyment to the game by creating a challenge to throw up a pic of your times to see who really lives up to their ability in this game.
I constantly see comments about how easy everything is to win.
Well, this is your chance to prove how good you are!
Let’s see your pic time!
Show us what you got!
And please, let’s try to keep this “one” thread negative comments free if possible.
We have enough of that on the other 98% of the threads . . .
I greatly appreciate it.
(If just reading this, you need to scroll to the first thread to see the challenge details)
Quite.
I blame it on those bothersome “feelings” that PGG is desperately trying to protect us all from.
:sigh:
