Top Rival Times and Tunes

Is there any way to download the exact same tune of someone that’s higher up than you on the leaderboard? There’s a pretty decent gap near the top and I’m guessing at some point I’m competing against people of very similar driving skill and it all comes down to the better tuned car. I can’t figure out this whole tuning thing to save my life, but whenever I find someone above me on the leaderboards who also has a tune that happens to come up under Recommended Tunes when I go to Load Setup I don’t have an issue beating them. I feel like there’s a way to download someone’s tune/car setup while on the leaderboards, but can’t figure it out. Doesn’t make sense a racing game with leaderboards ends up testing drivers on their ability to tune rather than their actual driving skill.

Tune only takes you so far and a lot of people don’t share their tunes. There are some top 100 and even higher worthy tunes posted. All of the ones I’ve used recently for example were by others and they all are posted.

I have quite a few top 10 capable tunes that are not posted as well. Unfortunately I’m not good enough to hit top 10s and some of the tunes are terrible to drive. I can tell you right now the leaderboards are based on skill. You may be able to get a few tenths with a better build or tune, but it takes skill to get a great lap.

You know you can search tunes based on class right? There is more out there than the recommended tune stuff.

To answer your question no there is not. think of it like qualifying. You are shooting for best lap. teams dont share the same car trying to set their qual time its a trick of the trade sort of thing. however i think you are slightly mistaken thinking that you could be at the top of the leaderboards driving the same car. However if u take a look at the top of the leaderboards with the guys in the top 100 and download their tune for the track u are trying to run, thats often the same tune they used. There are plenty of capable tunes released just have to discern who makes the worthy tunes and who doesnt. many of my leaderboard times were done in storefront tunes.

That’s the point, teams. The driver is not sitting there tuning his own car. Sure he gives the rest of the team input, but a lot of it is also pulled from data recorded during the drive. I shouldn’t be forced to sit here and figure out these tunes just to be competitive.

Then dont. I really dont. Yes i have had the honor of working with a great team and having them provide me some top notch tunes but many of my times come from storefront tunes. theres also a list of capable tuners on the forums here. start using those tunes and see where that gets u.

Judging by the fact that your best times are barely inside the top 500 and only on lemans, you are not as capable as you think you are and should chalk it up to them being more skilled drivers. The difference between the top 500 and the top 10 even on short tracks is around 2-4 seconds. If you were as capable as you think you should be able to put nearly a stock car in the top 500.

Dont take this as me being snarky. Just kind of tired of the argument of “if i could drive the same tune as them i would be right where they are” bit, its just not true. I would be pleased to help you out just shoot me a friend request and hop in a party or whatever. Not saying that I am the be all end all or the best out there. Can even point you in the right direction for tunes.

Well if you’re going it alone you have to do your own research either with tuning or taking 10-15 minutes to navigate the tunes shared for a certain car in a certain class. That’s what I had to do when looking for KTM tunes that were drivable without TCS.

Teams do speed up the process, but not all teams are terribly active these days. Most members tune up their own cars and sometimes collaborate, especially if one member stumbles upon a good build/tune.

Then again there is enough out there posted for everyone to use that’ll get you top 150s on every track if you use TCS. Craviator, one of the fastest guys out there, has open sourced many top tunes/builds in the Tuning section of these forums as well.

I don’t get what is the big deal. Teams aren’t what is holding you back.

Where’s the searchable leaderboards? It might be easier tracking down a tune if I can open up the leaderboards in my browser as I’m looking through the tunes. Also where did you see my top times are le mans? I don’t even remembe running that track outside of career.

Leaderboards for forza 5: Forza.net: The official website of the Forza franchise

Note that laguna seca does not show up and the correct cars used aren’t always listed. The laguna issue has been like that since day 1 and the online leaderboard showing incorrect cars (inlcuding no car and cars that aren’t in the game) occurred after one of the game updates and was never fixed.

Forza stats (http://www.forzastats.com/Player) is where you can search for fastest laps and how we know you only have a few top 500s. This is a private site and is primarily for teams and loners to have a means to show via forza stat points (which are earned by running top 100s) who is the best overall player/team. This site tracks both assisted and unassisted lap times only if you were able to run a top 500 in the standard forza 5 leaderboards. Teams have to register in order to have there times pulled together; however, no registration is needed for a single player since this site pulls data directly from the forza 5 website for online leaderboards.
