Tire choices.....

Rally tires automatically switch to what was known as a “Snow tire” set in Horizon 3, when an event is in winter or the season changes to winter. The other compounds work as expected. Stock all the way to Race are for tarmac races and Drag is obviously for (tarmac) drag races so it offers minimal wheel-spin but bad lateral force grip.

There’s also an option for “Retro Race” tires, but they just look different and offer less grip than the “contemporary” Race tires.

Stock tires vary, actually. Some vehicles are equipped with stock rally or off-road tires. For other cars, their stock tires might actually be street, sport, or race tires.

Do people find rally or race tyres better for the dirt events? Might seem like a stupid question but I’ve noticed a lot of the routes include tarmac sections

I frequently use rally tires for road racing simply because I often have them already equipped on whatever I’m driving around. In my experience you lose more hitting dirt with race tires than you do hitting pavement with rally or off-road tires. Seems perfectly viable up to A class, at least.

That’s true for most cars, though the Chevy Monte Carlo vintage tyres offer more grip than race tyres, and look awesome with a retro NASCAR livery on the car!

The Ford Falcon FE car also has the NASCAR Goodyear Eagle tires as the “vintage race” compound tire.

That tire offers a lot of grip for much less PI, but the width cannot be adjusted at front or rear.

I bought one in the auction house for a little under 200,000. There were several available for sale last night at that price.

I’ve got an S1 tune available for the car that features the tires. It’s a competitive tune - so it’s AWD (grrr)

Hello,

It annoys me that in winter you have to mount the winter tires for every car. Since you have to go back to a house or festival, there is even an impertinence.

It would be nice if there was the option to upgrade vehicles in addition to tuning them just before a race event. Would solve this problem along with many others since a lot of tunes also change out parts.

If a car has offroad tires, then it has winter tires.

No, offroad vehicles have all purpose tires. They don’t have winter tires. Street cars have race tires, drag tires, offroad tires and winter tires.

I can fit snow tyres on my Range Rover and that is offroad class in game.

No, if a street car has offroad tires they turn into winter tires in winter races.

if they change with the season then why do we have the selection between off-road and snow “studded” tires?? currently i don’t think they change automatically like they did with blizzard mountain.

Honestly, it’s a lot more fun to drive most cars without winter tires, so I’m glad they’re not stock on every car.

It’s the only time the traction feels borderline realistic in this game. Way too grippy otherwise.

I don’t know what car you are using but I definitely only have option for “Winter tire” currently instead of offroad tire.

This is exactly how it worked in FH3 when you travelled to/from Blizzard Mountain.

It’s how my agera works in game. It has the snow icon now, I didn’t change anything.

I experienced a similar thing when I went through the prologue. I bought snow tires for a road car, but when I finished the prologue, they converted back to standard.

Why cant i select regular racing road tires in winter? why am i locked to only choose snow tires. i cant do blue printed races with snow tires only this is a pretty big oversight.
