Seems like using a timer for the long races (30 plus on most tracks and over 4 on the big 2) instead of a crazy # of laps. Aside from being much more realistic it would also be neat to track other classes of cars difference in lap times.
Might be nice for multiplayer races but not single player.
Why not? That’s how real endurance races work. It’s a good idea and would be nice to have as an option in the longer races in career. That way those that want to use the feature can whilst those that don’t want to don’t have to.
As most real endurance races run by time and not by laps, this would be a welcome addition to this ‘motorsport’ game. It’s small things like this which have been overlooked.
50 laps on 1.5 mile oval are much to less even on the superspeedways the races are not longer than 35 min. A timer would solve that issue. A racing sim or console races sims should offers even in singleplayer longer races.
Timed races in Free Play would be great! Or at least raise the maximum number of laps to at least 100 or 200 (the more laps the better). I would love to do 500-mile races at Daytona or Indy! I would even do 100-200 laps on most road courses to rack up lots of XP. Hopefully they can incorporate that into FM6, or at least FM7.
As a somewhat related topic, still waiting for the multiplayer timed races to let me finish the lap I’m on.
Good idea!
What i’d like to see is timed races ending when the final lap is over, not when the timer runs out. Tried a timed race before and timer ran out and started giving me credits and XP even though I hadn’t finished my lap.
I mean, it’d probably suck if you’re in the middle of a down-to-the-wire battle for the win on the last lap and just as you’re about to make a bold move for the lead, the timer runs out and you were classified in 2nd by two inches… And the final lap wasn’t even half over.
