Thrustmaster Wheel Stopped Working After Update

My thrust master wheel has been working flawlessly for months, and I turned on the Xbox One today to play Forza 5, it started doing an autoupdate I assume for the Road America Track that just became available, and my wheel now does not work at all with the Xbox One. I can get the wheel to turn on, and it will align itself, but none of the buttons do anything on the screen.

Anyone else having this problem? Is this due to the update, or am I having another known issue with the wheel or with the Xbox One.

Thanks for the help!

I have not had a problem with mine. Sometimes this happens if the game was running with the other controller. Make sure other controller’s are off. In the game unplug just the wheel base power cord leave the usb connection and plug it back in. It should rotate and should work. I did go through 2 wheel bases so if this is your first base it might be dead but if it still rotates when you plug it in I doubt it is bad. Mine both just completely stopped working all together.

I was having a similar problem. I even contacted Thrustmaster about it. My problem was that it would pause in the middle of games, the view would change, and sometimes there would be a delayed response when I pushed buttons. I think I may have found the problem however, before Thrustmaster contacted me back. At least I hope so. The collar holding my steering wheel to the base was a little loose. I tightened it up, and have since ran three races without a problem. I wonder if the update that improved the controller sensitivity, pouched the loose collar problem over the edge. Check to make sure the collar holding your wheel on is tight. Good luck. If that does not work, I got nothing.

It’s not a loose connection as far as I can tell.

I do find it disturbing in research, and in your reply turbohonda, that there seems to be problems with the bases or people going through these wheels given that the freaking thing was $400 to start with. My old Xbox wheel for the 360 was $100 and besides eventually breaking the cheap paddle shifters it always worked reliably. This wheel has fantastic feel and feedback, but for $400 I should not be having this problem in the first place. Very frustrated.

Thanks for input, and please keep ideas coming on how to fix it. I did email Thrustmaster so we’ll see where to go from here!

I do believe that the first batch of the wheels have issues I do think that the last one I got feels the best and has felt good since I used it the first time. Also you can try powering down the console by touching the power button for 10 secs that will make it do a cold boot. The first base I had just burned up defined burning smell to it the second was weird it just stopped working in the middle of a race so I powered everything down and it started just displaying a green light by the mode button. It never worked after that. Did you hook it up to a computer yet?

By the way thrustmaster is reallly goood to deal with so even the issues with the wheels it will be resolved by them only thing I ended up paying to ship it back was for the tape to attach the shipping labels so I cant complain to much a week of leave time at most.

Yup….my wheel also died this week….it’s two weeks old. It was very temperamental before the update, since then my wheel seems to have ‘bricked’ itself and is no longer recognized by the console or by PC. I’ve had nothing but trouble right from the very start with this wheel. By comparison by old MS Wheel endured years of use with no problems whatsoever.

I launched a returns claim yesterday and Amazon are delivering me a new wheel on Tuesday, fingers crossed this one behaves. I only bought the TX after MadCatz pushed back their launch until June, the sheer amount of broken TX threads is astonishing, it looks like Thrustmaster have terrible quality control issues with their manufacturing process.

All in all I can’t convey how ‘frustrating’ the whole process of getting the X1 and Forza 5 has been, I don’t think I’ve been so consistently hacked off and frustrated with a new purchase ever before. I’ve found once the excitement of the new game wore off, the issues really started to get at me more, I’m sick to death of there being problem after problem with this console and this game. Some friends come over the other night (all of them PS4 owners) and it was frankly embarrassing watching my equipment die before their eyes. Latest curveball from T10 is career mode is now stuck on the same race since the track update….wtf has happened to quality control???!

Yeah, this is very very frustrating. I did speak with someone at Thrustmaster today in email and I have to hook it up to a PC and go through their program to figure out the issue. I don’t have a PC though so I have to go over to my parents house and use theirs.
