Thrustmaster DOA

I was soooo excited to finally get the Thrustmaster TX. I even got the F1 wheel attachment. So, I got the wheel out and assembled. Then did the firmware update. Everything seemed ok, except I started smelling something that I thought was a dead mouse. I looked all under the couch, but could find nothing. Then came the time I was super excited for, finally playing with the wheel. Fired up the Xbox…plugged up the wheel…and the only thing that seemed,to work was the Xbox button on the base of the wheel and it only worked once. At that time I realized that the wheel itself smelled like a dead mouse. Weird. Called thrust master and went through a series of checks that did nothing. Next I filled out an email from them so they could send me a new wheel base. The email said I would contacted again before they shipped out my new wheel base.

  1. Has anyone has a this or a similar problem? How long did it take until it was fully resolved?

  2. How is the wheel supposed to behave when it is hooked up to the Xbox one?

  3. Can the USB cable that goes to the Xbox from the wheel be extend? If so where I get the product that would help do this?

Sorry for your troubles. The wheel is awesome when it works though.

  1. It might vary with what Thrustmaster office you deal with. I’m from the UK and got an advance replacement from their office in France. Got the RMA on a Tuesday, replacement was shipped Thursday and it got here the following Monday. They also sent a prepaid UPS label for me to send the faulty base back

  2. You connect the power lead to the wheel. Then the USB to the xbox (with it powered off). You power the xbox up via the button on the xbox (not the controller due to a conflict). The wheel should then power up and do its calibration (rotates back and forth a few times, pauses for a little while and then centres itself).

  3. I use a standard 1m USB extension cable.

good luck!

Thanks for the information.
