Thrustmaster TX Not Working After Xbox One Update (Not Due to Problems with the Update)

My Thrustmaster has stopped working since the last Xbox One update (the update that adds the battery indicator on the dashboard). It was working fine the night before the update dropped. Ever since then the wheel no longer turns on when I connect the USB cable to the Xbox One.

I don’t think it’s a problem with the wheel. I can plug the wheel into my computer and work with it in the control panel. Everything works fine when plugged into the PC.

It seems to be a problem with the Xbox One recognizing the device when I plug in the USB cable. I plug in the USB cable and I can see the Xbox light blink, see the wheel move just a tiny bit, and then it stops. It never makes it through the normal startup calibration routine.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I just finished a couple of hours racing with my Tx458. My xbox got the update this morning, have not had any major problems yet. But during a couple of races at Spa, I got “rewound” without hitting the rewind button. I read another post that someone was having an issue with the camera angle changing by itself during race.

Did you try a full reset of the Xbox (press and hold power button on the console for 10 seconds).

I’ve tried everything. Finally got it working after about 20 minutes of piugging it in/out.

I finally got it working by loading Forza 5 with a regular controller and then plugging the wheel in. Last night the wheel worked after plugging into the computer and then into the Xbox One.

My wheel did that (when plugged in it would turn a small amount but wouldn’t start the calibration routine). Eventually after unplugging/replugging multiple times (very frustrating) in it would be detected and then work fine for a full session. However, eventually it got to the stage where it wouldn’t get detected at all and had to be returned on RMA.

Movaado - That is exactly what’s happening to me. Saturday and Sunday night I was able to get the wheel working just by pluggin/unplugging until it worked. Last night - nothing.

I connect to the Xbox One and the Xbox Guide light blinks, the wheel moves back and forth slightly - and then nothing.

When I plug into my PC - I get a USB device not recognized error.

I e-mailed Thrustmaster support this morning. Hopefully they will be able to provide a quick resolution to this issue.

Yup - I got a USB device not recognised error on my laptop with this issue as well.

Support will just make sure you power it up in the right way and will ask you to reflash the latest firmware (which you can’t do as its not detected). They aren’t particularly fast responding to emails either.

I hear ya!! I think I’ll probably try to give the 800 number a call when I get home tonight.

Well it’s taken a few days but I think that Thrustmaster is working on sending out a replacement base. I talked to them on the phone yesterday and I’m just waiting for the e-mail confirmation that my RMA is being processed.

They are pretty slow on the e-mails but I think that’s mostly a time zone issue. I’m in the US and Thrustmaster support is in France so getting a response usually took an entire day. I also was unable to reach them via phone in the evenings but I did get a hold of them a couple times calling in the morning hours (which ends up being late afternoon/evening for them).

If anyone has issues in the future I would recommend calling support while you’re able to do testing with your wheel. You should be able to get everything tested and resolved on a single call if you can work with your wheel while you’re on the phone with a support tech.

I’ll follow-up once the RMA has been processed and I’ve got the new base to give a final account of the total time it took to get the issue resolved.

Another one that’s had the same wheel ‘not recgonized’ problem…

I think there’s something seriously amiss in the manufacturing process, aside from the microphone problem, the sheer amount of failures you read about from other users says it all…

Yes - there definitely seems to be some issues.

But, FWIW, Thrustmaster was pretty good about resolving this issue and I just got an e-mail this morning telling me that the replacement base is being shipped. First attempt worked great for the first 2.5 months. Hopefully the replacement will last a little longer.

I got the new base yesterday and it works great!! Just like new!!

I’m pretty happy with Thrustmaster support on this issue. It’s too bad that my first wheel died but they were really good about getting a replacement out quickly. If anyone has any questions about working with Thrustmaster support please feel free to send me a PM.

Mine has been doing the same for a few days now. Not looking forward to it stopping so I will contact Thrustmaster support today ;O(

I’ve had a few connection issues with the wheel but have a start up procedure that seems to work every time now:

1 - Power on XB1 with controller and sign in using controller
2 - Load FM5 but do not press A to start the game with the controller
3 - Plug the wheel into the mains power and make sure socket switch is on
4 - Connect USB cable from wheel to XB1 ensuring you use one of the rear USB sockets, NOT THE SIDE ONE!
5 - Wheel should now power on and calibrate
6 - Press A on the wheel to activate FM5 and you should be prompted to sign in again this time with the wheel
7 - Ensure you have the correct rotation setting on the wheel before racing as it defaults to 900.

The headset connected to the controller should be fully functional for voice chat as both controllers are signed in.

I do the same except I usually plug mine into the side USB port and it still works as great.

Having the same issue here. Email to TM was very slow turn around time, but one phone call and a follow up email (proof of purchase and SN) and a replacement base is on the way. Almost no questions asked other than ‘does it work if you plug it in to a PC?’ so it must be a known QC issue with some internal parts.

I got a thrust master 2 days ago and it won’t power on at all anymore, the lights don’t come on and it doesn’t even calibrate.
I don’t know how to fix it.

I have exactly the same problem had it a week, Was 2nd hand but was working fine.
It had the mod to the USB lead.
Where the connector was cut out and hard wired instead.
Any thoughts Anyone ??
