If your system is good from the get go there shouldn’t be a problem. Most of the defective wheels seem to be due to things being stuck in the cooling fan right off the get go. So basically the cooling system never really works and it causes things to get messed up.
Does anyone know which courier Thrustmaster use to send replacement units? I received an email from them with a tracking number but they didn’t think to inform me who to track the parcel with!
It’s how it works everywhere but only if the tracking ref received is a link to the tracking page. If it’s just plain text it won’t work no matter where you are in the world.
Question. I just got the wheel and upgraded the firmware. But interestingly it did not ask me to put it in boot mode. I simply hit update and it started right away and I went from 45 to 47. It came back and all was well. Why did it update without asking for boot mode? Is this normal? The instructions said it should have asked me to do it and to follow the on screen instructions.
Sorry to bump an old topic but as I’m now going through the same process I thought I’d post about it on here because I’m sure I wont be the last one!
My wheel was purchases from dabs.com and went up in smoke on lap 2 of its first use! From what I read I get the impression that this is a fault with the earlier runs of this wheel, so I guess dabs.com may have older stock - something to think about if you are looking to buy one.
I’ve put in a RMA request with Thrustmaster today (Tues 9th Sep) - the thinking being that if I RMA it I’m at least guaranteed to get a fixed wheel back, whereas if I got back to dabs.com I’ll most likely get another broken one!
I actually got a reply from their support within 30 minutes of filing the form which was good. Just had to give them my details, a copy of the invoice, and a picture of the sticker on the base of the unit.
I just bought a brand new TX that came with v47 installed. It still had the internal power supply as well. It lunched itself after 30 seconds of use. Despite numerous sources saying that Thrustmaster has resolved the quality and reliability issues there seems to be quite a lot of evidence to the contrary. I’m not sure if I will order a second wheel and try this again. I don’t mind spending $400, but for that price it should work with way less issues than there is.
Ok I am trying to register for Thrustmaster e-mail technical support. So I filled out the form and got the e-mail with the username and temporary password. When I go to the site to log in, it forces me to register a product. So I choose “Xbox One”, “Wheel” and “TX racing wheel”. It then comes up with an error in red text stating “product selection is invalid”. I’ve tried to register other products but the same thing happens and you can’t send an e-mail until a product is registered.
Has anyone else had this problem or know how to resolve it? What kind of support is this? Can’t reach them by either phone or e-mail…lol!
I didn’t have that problem but I did note that there are two sites you can use:
They are separate systems so I raised a ticket on both lol, but the second one is the one that got back to me first. The first link might be UK specific though.
Thrustmaster today told me that they are sending me a label to send my wheel back to them, so I guess I’m going to have to wait for them to fix it and send it back to me rather than just getting a new one shipping right away.
Anyone using this wheel for the first time might want to think about recording it for 10-20 minutes, putting a smoking TX on youtube might embarres turn10+microsoft+thrustmaster enough to recall them all and release a safe reliable wheel, I’ve heard of some of them catching fire so keep a fire extinguisher near the wheel.
My original wheel came from dabs.com, back in June. I was unfortunate in that it broke over a weekend when the French ( where the support office work) were on a long weekend public holiday. I called them on Tuesday, followed the procedure they asked for testing, shipped the wheel back at their expense and had a repaired wheel base back in about 8 days.
It’s worked flawlessly since and remains the only issue I’ve had remotely related to my xbox one.
It does very much seem like there was a faulty initial batch that are still not all sold through. I’ve never heard of one actually on fire and to be honest, I’d imagine that is internet drama
