Recieved the wheel today and as you said never got a tracking number. I also got the external power brick, man its huge! They also changed the power supply plug on the back of the wheel from the big 3 prong plug to a little ps3 looking one that says 24 volt. Thats the US version anyways, looks like you can’t just plug the brick in an old wheel. Judging from the size of the brick, that must have been where all the problems were coming from.
With the plethora of issues you guys are having, it looks like this wheel is “hardly” the right choice for a decent wheel setup in FM5.
There are alot of them having no problems at all. As with any new products there are some with problems, however TM ar quick to take care of them, over all it is a great wheel,FFB is top notch!
I really liked the base component which the FFB it had was great, but when it came to the cheap feel of the wheel attachment, i just couldn’t talk myself into keeping it.
Well I got through on the phone to TM last Tuesday evening (I work all day and can only try once I get home), got sent an email stating to try all the things I’ve already tried by googling. Did them anyway and replied with the screenshot evidence, invoice and serial number photo. Got a reply on Wednesday with instructions how to pack up the base, got another email on Thursday with a shipping label. UPS got the package on Friday and now it’s stuck over the weekend in one of their depots in France. Hopefully I’ll get a replacement base in time for next weekend ![]()
I’ve run into the exact same problem here. I called them yesterday and went through the email situation. Waiting for a response.
Yup…
Same here.
I had a dead wheel on Friday, after hours. Like completely dead. No lights, no USB detected at all. Dead dead. Emailed their support, got an automated ticket.
Went through Monday, no response.
Called in Tuesday, got a human who asked me all the stuff I reported I had done in the email. Well, ok, I played along and did it all again.
Got the form email asking for my contact info, purchase invoice, and serial picture. Sent all that back.
Tried calling them back, got informed that their customer support is closed and hung up on.
Today, Still no response from email. Customer support is still stating they are closed, and I get hung up on.
So for something obviously dead what should be an easy RMA, I’m on my 3rd business day without even getting an RMA # yet.
ETA:
To be fair, this morning, I got a reply saying a replacement base has been shipped. Guess they don’t particularly care about RMA #'s… But if they’re shipping a new wheel base to me, that’s not bad service. Still, it would probably be nice if they’d have a human on the phone lines to reassure us. It’s not like us Forza fans haven’t been screwed by previous wheel vendors before…
I started the process on Monday morning and they just got asked me for my address information to begin the RMA process. I hope it doesn’t take long. I’ve only gotten one “test” race out of the device so far and I’m dying to get some good use out of it!
I got my wheel base back, repaired (Ie. not replaced with a new base), from France today. Got it all hooked up and ran it for about two hours. I’m currently running a lot slower than I can with a controller, but it’s very enjoyable so far.
Thanks for the replies everyone, and good luck to anyone who gets one of the flakey ones. At least Thrustmaster turn them around pretty quickly.
going back to micro center to get my 3rd wheel in 4 days. Yes that is correct. I have yet to make it through 2 races. Both times it is the exact same situation. Turn the wheel to the right about a quarter of the way and it disconnects from the box gets bound up in the gears and both the green and white light turn on. Is it bad luck or is it something to do with my XB1… I just bought the new non connect version 4 days ago.

That’s a new one to me, and sounds like it’s more likely to be your XB1 than the wheel. Have you tried it on a PC and if yes do you get the same problem?
It’s not the xbox, that is the symptom when the wheel base has lunched itself.
Mine did the same. The mode light turning green and the white light and all. The base ceases communicating over the USB wire unless it’s put into boot loader mode, you can confirm it by plugging into a PC.
Are you updating the firmware on the wheel before using on the xbox?
One other question for you all.
My repaired wheel seems to be working fine, but it still seems a little “lumpy” when turning. In other words, it’s not smooth and making small adjustments to course while travelling in a straight line are tricky because of it. Is this normal, or is the wheel still potentially faulty?
updated yes. Worked on pc fine… Got my 3rd wheel today and all was well for about 20 minutes. Just finished the most painful 2.4 ring race ever. Disconnected on me at least 20 times and spent half the race driving off center… Worst thing was I was 22 miles short of the limited badge… What a pile of junk. My t500 is awesome compared to this thing. calling TM on monday to have this issue fixed I cant go back to micro again… I felt stupid today getting another wheel
Yay Canada! Today I received a call from UPS stating that I would have to pay customs fees for my warranty replacement wheel. This is absolutely ridiculous. Can’t Microsoft get better partners than this?

Wow, that sucks and shouldn’t happen. Is there no way around it - I mean you should be able to prove it’s a replacement for a faulty product?

Well I explained it to them, but Canada has some very stupid laws regarding where you can receive warranty products from. I guess I’ll see what happens when the courier comes to my house.
I guess the “lumpiness” isn’t too bad, I can feel it a bit but I’ll likely end up “tuning it out” so my brain doesn’t notice it, lol
Now I just need to learn to drive again. I’m currently about 6 to 8 seconds a lap slower with the wheel than the controller, and spend a lot of time coasting while I try to correct corner exit tank slappers! If you have any tips that would be appreciated too ![]()
Finally received the replacement wheel. Well actually I received it during the week, but I was busy. It has an external power supply and has worked flawlessly so far. No duty was charged to me on the shipping so the Warranty Replacement comment I made on the phone call must have cleared me of paying customs.
I sure hope I don’t have any problems with my Thrustmaster TX. It was a day one wheel. I have raced for over 10 thousands miles on Forza 5. No problems with mine yet. Maybe I got one of the original ones that are problem free. Now watch mine mess up next time I play, smh
