Multiplayer League Hoppers
January 10 through January 17
Use this thread to share tips, car suggestions, and experiences.
League leaderboards are ordered by points which accumulate from all your played sessions during the week.
Points per race = finish position inverted + bonus for finishing higher than players with a higher skill rating. See the League Info thread for explanation about skill rating and Division placement. Credit payouts for each division are awarded based on the leaderboard after the League has reached its end date.
See ManteoMax.com or KudosPrime.com or this thread for a list of cars by Division. Unless otherwise specified, Leagues use Damage=Cosmetic, Collisions=On, Tuning=Allowed, Upgrades=Allowed to the maximum of the specific class restriction.
Special: Players in the top 50% of each division will win a DLC car, the 1971 Ferrari 312 P. This offer repeats weekly through January. See WIR announcement and discussion thread. Ultimate SpoCom League
Dates: January 10 through January 17
Car Class: A (max PI 700) (no cars available in this Buy Car menu since they’re stock C and B class)
P-class Ghosts
Any stock or upgraded car in P class is eligible; the Mazda 787b is ineligible.
Can-Am Division
Ultimate SpoCom Division
This League restriction is Class must be A. Cars must be currently configured to meet the lobby restriction to appear as available options. Since all the Ultimate SpoCom cars are stock C and B class, they won’t show up for an A class event unless you own the car and have upgraded it. Note that Subarus and Mitsubishis that are in the Rally Day Heroes Division can be used in Ultimate SpoCom races in Stories of Motorsport but not in multiplayer.
Due to the potential Unicorn reward the lobbies are much larger than before, I’ve seen a number of 24 player races. Naturally the first lap can be a bit hectic but once things cool down (in Pinnacle) I can get some good racing in.
Also, I hope you have a good McLaren, you might need it
I am not sure yet if the McLaren is faster with Traction Control on or off. It’s driveable with TCS off and I’ve been getting good results (Top 5s mostly) but I’ve seen some pretty good laptimes being posted by people who have it enabled. I’ll have to do some hotlapping later to see how things play out.
I’m aware that it’s faster than the (forbidden) 1970s Grand Prix cars on a number of circuits, but didn’t think it would be so prevalent. Can’t properly gauge how powerful TCS is just yet as I haven’t done a test, but based on the laptimes I’ve seen of people who normally have similar pace to me I think I’m losing almost a second a lap.
It’s certainly a bit more… crashy than most leagues, with a bigger skills gap between the fastest and slowest drivers. And even in Pinnacle there are a couple of cutters and kamikaze late-breakers, which is a shame.
Yeah I really wish it was ghost league. And I can’t belive they put rain tracks in rotation it’s horrible people crash into everyone not even on purpose but from the rain.
I think part of the issue is that we have bigger lobbies, faster cars and a lot of people who don’t usually race in Leagues and are out of practice. First laps might get rough for a while before calming down after the weekend.
As for corner-cutters, they annoy me more than wreckers sometimes
I like the wet weather tracks, as I tend to do much better on them. Fortunately I haven’t seen any night circuits yet, kind of hard to see when you don’t have any headlights.
where there more ‘‘dirty’’ racing on day 2 of can am today?? i could drive for 3/4 laps, then on the last turn before lap 4 the car(that could brake the other 3 laps) smashing in me from behind…
yesterday peolpe didn’t seem to care if they won ore lost. today I had to cut corners to avoid to get smashed from behind… i’m racing in Pinnacle and i’m not used to that dirty driving in there!
ore is it the cars? i know that the majority does not prior these kind of cars but still… in Pinnacle?
These cars are fast and at times difficult to control.
There are twice as many people in a room.
There are a lot of people competing who typically only race Ghost League, or haven’t done Leagues in a while. These people are having to relearn basic racecraft as they’re not as used to side-by-side racing as the regular League drivers.
It’s been a bit of a mixed bag for me today; I love driving the car but because of its speed and the 3 reasons mentioned above its not as easy to get a good battle at the moment. I’m making most of my positions simply because I’m doing a reasonably good job of avoiding crashes, not because I’m out-foxing somebody through a sequence of corners.
Ended Top 15 at the end of Day 1, almost 100% guaranteed to get that Ferrari now, which I will happily use in future events.
Yeah the lobbies are bigger now…
Maybe wait to next week. then the ‘‘must have the car people’’ are gone… and maybe there wil be better racing.
I saw u up there PJ! enjoy the car!
yesterday i raced 3 race before i had to go to bed. and all 3 races were a dream! everyone drove like profesinall drivers. but today… meeh … not so much.
i think u have it nailed With the combination PJ… i hope it calms Down by next week. and then many may have gotten more used to the speed and how the cars are handling
Just finished my first session in this league. A total of 31,000 pts in just over 3 hrs of racing isn’t too bad. I shall post some tips tomorrow as I have now figured out which cars/tunes to use for each track.
Can Am has been pretty fun so far, A lot of getting hit from behind and me hitting other people from behind from getting my braking points wrong but I’m getting the hang of it I think.
It’s always the m8b 99% of the time, at least with my tune. It works on every track and is shared if anyone wants it. It’s called max power easy. I got the fastest m8b time on hatch on the Lb’s with it.
