Don’t get me wrong i really like the driveatar system, but it seems like every race the same thing happens. I get out front and then on the last lap one of my friend’s driveatar’s closes the gap in a few seconds (no i didn’t mess up a turn or anything) and then he’s right on me for the rest of the race and often just flys by me faster than should be possible in his car and then i have to try and catch him again which can be kind of fun to have to make up that ground occasionally but it seems like it happen in every race… I know that’s going to happen when i mess up a turn or slide out or something but this can happen on long straights when i’m in a much faster car at top speeds. I was looking for a way to turn off his diveatar and see if it’s just him that’s doing this or if it’ll switch to someone else but i can’t see a way to not play with his guy. This seem to happen to anyone else or does anyone have any suggestions.
Yeah, this happens to me, too. I can have the drivatar difficulty turned all the way down, not mess up a single turn and it’s still a battle for first the last lap or two. I still get gold because of the “3rd = gold medal” thing, but it is still annoying to have such a huge gap in the AI.
Same exact thing for me as well. I actually tried to block one of my friends because of this, but the drivatar system does not seem to recognize blocks the same as blocks for online lobbies. I put a block on a friend and then fired up a career race and sure enough he went right by me on the last lap and there was no catching him. Seemed like an unrealistic speed for a C class race. Then just out of curiosity I set the difficulty as low as you can go, ran the same race, and still the same thing. I can’t imagine this is the way the drivatar system is supposed to work, but you never know.
I tried finding a drivatar adjustment option in the menus, but did not see anything to be able to do this.
This has come up a number of times. Can you share a replay of it happening? A couple people have done so before, but after reviewing the replay it has shown that the AI / Drivatar cars are not getting some sort of super speed boost or anything. In each case that I’ve looked at, the player - without realizing it - was slower on that final lap, and the Drivatar ran about the same lap-time (maybe a second or two quicker) than previous laps.
It’s possible that what happens is: the player gets nervous seeing the Drivatar approaching from behind, and then makes little mistakes under the pressure - little mistakes that add up enough to make it seem like the Drivatar is suddenly going much faster.
I have done this right here myself without even realizing it. You start watching the car behind and start missing your marks. Not a lot, but enough to slow you down.
This is one reason why it would be nice for T10 to allow us to review a race result and see lap times. You’d be able to review things and see when and where you slowed down.
Thanks for the replies. I’ll watch it going forward and you’re probably right as i bet i’m just getting sloppy in the final lap. if it doesn’t seem that way i’ll save the replay and send it on.
You have to drop the friend from your XBox friend circle to eliminate their drivatar from AI races.
Keep in mind: 3rd place in a 16-car field is your brightest gold. There is no XP or Credits advantage to finishing first, in fact 1st-2nd place is just a reminder that you left credits on the table by not upping your game difficulty. The whole FM5 system seems to be built on this: the way to get more reward is to crank up the drivatar difficulty. Until you’re racing Unbeatables with full-sim assists, your best racing objective is to up the difficulty til you can just barely finish 3rd.
I have NEVER witnessed this phenomena. I’ve seen fast drivatars from the beginning but none that comes charging from behind.
Someone blowing by is usually the result of good corner exit. It feels like there’s nothing you can do (and there isn’t, at that time). The passing move was made on the previous corner(s). The effect is most noticeable when everyone is racing identical cars.
There are cars that take little extra time to come up to speed so that could be a reason too.
A robotic voice eminates from my Xbox saying “STIG. MODE. ACTIVATED.”, and a red light starts oscillating back and forth on one drivatar’s helmet visor, cylon-style…
I have seen this a couple of times, but not seemingly, to the extent you are seeing it. Last night I had it happen on the Ring. I did a five lap free play on the Ring using Pro setting. I left them from the start and they had completely disappeared for four laps, then all of a sudden on the fifth lap, one of them starts to be visible again on the map behind me. Luckily, I had a big enough lead he didnt actually catch me, but had we gone to 6 laps he very well may have.
Yeah me too since I added some quick drivers. Guys that will be top 100 on rivals. I’ll put in flat out perfect laps and they’ll be right on me… And on the straights they can pass like they’ve got an extra 200bhp. It aint right >_>
