Most of my cars are bone stock and when first playing I thought so many were undriveable with the understeer etc. But I feel this game more than most others really rewards good driving. Especially higher powered cars need very careful throttle and you have to lower your controller acceleration dead zone to 0 (even with that I still think it’s not easy to get linear acceleration with careful throttle sometimes, but it’s doable with some muscle memory training).
For example, the hardest car to tame (and fastest), Jesko. I tuned and tuned and still couldn’t get it to not just be all over the place. Finally, I realized I’m driving it like I’d drive a 1,600 HP car in an arcade style game which makes you believe it’s possible to go WOT and hit corners full speed at all times.
I started driving it on Spa how I saw Koenigsegg themselves drive the One/1 when they tested it there. I.e in a way that looks like the car is nearly crawling through turns (it’s not, it’s just 80 MPH in that car feels like 20 MPH) and being driven “slowly,” and they’re always extremely careful as to when to unleash all 1K+ ponies.
Immediately (aside from some learning curve spin outs), the car felt amazing. My times drastically improved, and it felt like I’m actually being forced to drive the car like you’d really have to drive a Koenigsegg.
To note, I’m new to the game and controller racing games in general (I usually did mobile games with the turning phone to steer). After getting my advanced controller settings right, I’m driving ALL cars with ZERO assists other than ABS. Also no racing like. And SIMULATION steering (hard to get used to but u got the hang of it quickly.
The Jesko is maxed out and I’m finally taming it. Also my other cars are mostly bone stock and it’s really fun to drive them like that now as well. Physics I think they nailed for a simcade in this game.
Nice post. Be careful, too much time on the forums and you’ll find new things to dislike that you don’t even know about. Everyone here seems to hate everything.
I agree with you though, line selection and traction are the name of the game. Just being consistent with your braking points as hitting the same line over and over with adjustments for fuel and tires feels really good.
I’m starting to experiment with small taps of e-brake to rotate the nose during understeer. This physics model is fun.
High risk post. There are a lot, and i mean a lot of people here, which are racedrivers by nature and will tell you all about the GT7 real life physics and the creepy understeer physics of this game. These experts drive Formula cars at least and everyday. Dont mess things up here…
Real talk… the physics is sooo good, if you consider that it has to work from go cart to indy car. The main problem with this forza is, that it wants some knowledge and that you bother with the game a bit. Its not a acc like game where you can sit and start. For most this hurdle is to high, obviously.
Absolutely agreed. The negative sentiment is wayyyyy out of control for this game. If I wanted to fully upgrade every car I could understand the immense frustration but fortunately I’m really fine with collecting and keeping most stock while upgrading the select ones I like one by one.
The physics model is really excellent once you learn it indeed. The game just needs a little TLC, maybe some quality of life updates, maybe a little more pizazz on the U.I and the Ring and I’d have very little to no complaints at all.
I’m curious. Why does everyone always want the Nordschleife? Like, solo or rivals I think its great. But to race on with other human beings? Its always been an exercise in frustration unless you’re clear of the melee.
Man, there are so many tracks I wish we could have. The Vegas F1 track looked like it would be really fun to play, and cool to see as well. That’ll never happen though. Then you have tracks like Portimao that I believe would be really fun. Hope to see Road Atlanta soon.
I was looking forward to the Forza only tracks mostly, like Rio and Bernese Alps.I was really excited to run some new versions of these tracks, what a let down the track list turned out to be.Now we have to wait for 1 stinking track at a time too,no chance of track packs apparently.I do enjoy the game though so at least I can play it once in a while and have some good fun.
Becauseit is rare but when u hit that track with class racers it is so fun, challenging, and rewarding. Best fun I’ve had in a track was trading places on that track. Driver slowing down to give me the place he took by barely bumping me and me doing the same when I braked slightly late trying to gain an advantage going into a turn. It is a blast when u get a lobby of people that actually want to race. For me, it is also a great testing ground for cars.
I play exclusively offline currently. Online seems stressful. Maybe later. But I don’t need to race anyone to enjoy the ring. Just driving it alone is great.
