If you can get your head around the wreckers, and accept that it’s part of the game, it really can become a very satisfying part of the game.
If I get wrecked first corner, I find it most satisfying to work your way back up the field. Ok you may not take the race win, but it sure is Fun working your way back up, through the field, and seeing how many places you can pull back.
Just need to accept it, that it’s part and parcel of it and don’t let these idiots get to you.
I can’t imagine the look on their face when you overtake em again only for them to take another lunge at you and miss ha and wreck themselves again Ha !!!
Agreed. Always been this way though. I hoped that some improvements might have been made to FM7… you know, as it’s the latest version and the previous ones had stock car racing for multiplayer and the term E-Sport being brandished at this latest version but nope. Same old same.
I have watched a lot of the GT multiplayer videos on youtube and to be honest, I have bought the wrong game. I am not saying GT multiplayer is perfect, far form it but they have at least made an effort and the online racing has penalties as well as player safety grades and clean racing grades. Hit people and you drop in rating, drive cleanly and your rating improves etc.
I do not have a PS as I have always played Forza from day one so only have the Xbox. Forza is the only reason I have an xbox to be honest but I have looked at purchasing a PS4 purely to play GT and get some decent online racing.
FM7 is a shameful lazy release with plenty of nerfs and almost no improvements.
I feel the exact same way. GT2 was what got me into sim styled racing. Then I got an Xbox and played Forza and it was simply superior. I got FM3, 4, and 5 and was pretty happy with those with my favorite being 4 just like everyone else here.
I haven’t played 6 and 7 is just so bad, what a a happened? I feel like if they just made an HD version of FM4 and added more cars the game would be a significant improvement.
Then I looked at GT sport and I was horrified that I made the choice to buy FM7 and saddened that the game that pulled me away from the other franchise is now garbage. Not even just sub par but pure and utter garbage.
If it’s any consolation, if you had gotten the Hoonigan pack, they have their own division and can only be raced against each other. There is no career race ( maybe the open races ) for them and there is no online hopper for them, so there isnt much for you to do with them.
Yeah what a bunch of BS huh… Pre Order Bonus Pack… only o race in Free Play. They could have added them in career and allow folks to buy them in game… I would care, but now they’re pretty much useless.
To be totally honest, I’m a bit of a recluse. I don’t play online much, unless it’s with a buddy. And even then, I only play Forza to drift really. The only racing I do is in career mode and that’s just to get credits to buy more cars… so I only want access to the Twerkstallion from the pack anyway.
I’m a very casual gamer and must say I am enjoying Forza 7. I can understand people’s criticisms for sure and this post has some good points. There are always things to improve upon and I hope that Forza 7 is updated to fix some of the basic troubles that people find hurts their enjoying the game.
One thing I wish could be fixed is to qualify for a race in career mode. I find I need to set the difficulty back bit just to avoid the carnage at starts.
For me what is killing this game are crashes and memory leek. Yet again 10 minutes ago I finished the race and game crashed just before I got a reward. How lovely. So… we can’t paint and tune our cars, we got no rewards after race, VIP got no bonuses, Forzathon is still unavailable and the worst… [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]. I feel cheated.
I own the Ultimate Edition and play strictly on PC, and despite not having the best hardware available like alot of new games require you to have to get the best framerate to graphics ratio, I get a solid 60fps with all details turned up as high as possible with V-sync and 1080p, and my system doesn’t even try to get warm.
But, even with 32 gigs of ram, eventually the game will crash if I spend too much time customizing my car, whether it be through tuning, painting, and rim selection… To say that the memory leak isn’t an important issue, is a complete and utter lie… I feel sorry for those with 12 or less gigs of ram. The game is probably unplayable for them.
So yeah, the game hates running for long periods of time on a system that should be perfectly capable of keeping it running for a week straight, but the game is still young, and we all know that paying people to do alpha and beta testing cost too much when you have a rare exotic car to buy, so we need to pay them to do it for them.
Patches will eventually come out, and the problem will be solved… Might take them 8 months, but they’re men… You don’t have to keep nagging them. You’ll eventually get around to doing it.
The Homolagation feature is actually quite welcoming to an extent. It’s nice if you want to race against other cars in your class, because let’s face it… It’s a bit weird to see Blown V8 powered RWD Fiat 500s and stock Hennessy Venoms with 4 lug tuner wheels in the same race… Fun, but weird.
Sometimes, I happen to like a more realistic field of evenly matched cars. Makes things feel a bit more authentic.
BUT! It is nice building unlikely cars for a curtain class, and finding out that it can hold it’s own against easy to use noob cars that dominate each class… **** those cars… That’s always been a problem since the beginning of Forza itself.
Everyone says that FM3 and 4 were the best Forza games, but I’m willing to bet money that the majority of those players only used Audis… The game made you feel good about yourself when you took control of an Audi, and walked away from people who spent days and weeks tuning their cars for that class.
I like that even with full Sim damage, I can actually touch other cars without getting knocked out of competition now, so there’s also that.
Racing with a wheel is unplayable in FM7… I don’t know who said the Driving Force GT is supported, but I’d like to kick them in the taint… I’ve been making adjustments since day one, but apparently cars are harder to drive in video games than they are in real life, unless you use an Xbox controller.
Online lobbies are still a major mess… Waiting for a race to start feels like I’m alpha testing for some 3rd party game developer who’s trying to get their name out there through Kickstarter.
I think everyone is turning ant hills into mountains with the loot crates… You can play the entire game without ever buying a loot crate (with ingame credits) yet, it ruined the game? Stop looking for the small things to hate the game for, and GTFO with that BS. Seriously. It’s pathetic to act like that’s even remotely a problem.
I happen to like the fact you have so many choices of racing suits… Always felt awkward when The Stig was cloned, and racing every car in the game…
I miss the Storefront. It was nice to have your favorite players bookmarked, but I’m sure there was a reason to remove it.
My biggest complaint really is the fact that their selection of wheels and wheel customization is still stuck in the days of Forza 2.
Most of the rim models are the same since the beginning too.
I’m an avid Muscle Car fan, so I usually like to fix of these old cars to my liking… hard to do when you can’t adjust the backspacing of wheels, and the dimensions of most of the classic wheels are so off, they might as well be Forza brand wheels that was made to be similar to keep from breaking copyrights. The Cragar SS model is an abomination. Nobody asked for the American Racing Torq Thrust M, and who thought it would be amazing if there were no dish to these wheels? You have the option to make your rear tires wide enough to be considered Pro Street in the real world, but the inability to dish your rims, the whole look of the car is ****ed.
I happen to rock American Racing Torq Thrust IIs on my real car, The TT Ms ingame just annoy me. The TT M’s aren’t even made right. Why to do they share the center cap and bolt design of the classic wheels??
And lastly, who thought Chevrolet’s “SS” badging was insulting? Yeah I get it, They removed it because of Nazis, but why was that complaint even taken seriously?
the department in charge of customization in a game where Customization is priority appears to have been fired since FM2, yet the department in charge of limiting your freedom, and acting “PC” must have had their manpower doubled, and then given a raise for coming up with as many features and decisions that fan-base never NEVER asked for…
Seriously, we’ve been seeing the same topics come up in every “Wish List” thread in every official Forza forum, and none of them has been answered. Why would they start now?
I think he has a point there, though the wheel is far from unplayable, and so that statement could definitely be filed under “hyperbole”. I am quicker on FM7 with my wheel than I am with a controller, but the wheel implementation isn’t exactly ideal, imo. There really isn’t much feel from the road and the wheel is pretty dead in the middle for me, though you absolutely can set it up so that you feel under or oversteer, which feels good and responsive. It’s an improvement from Forza Apex, and from what I’ve read it was an even larger improvement for FM6, but comes well short (imo) of better FFB from titles like Assetto Corsa, iRenting, and Project Cars 2.
My problem with Forza 7 isn’t really the game. It’s Turn 10 studios that are the problem. They got lazy, they got complacent, they didn’t listen to their fans, they deliberately misled people over the VIP debacle and they added features most of us din’t want and didn’t ask for while ignoring to fix problems with the game that people were complaining about.
I’ll make a few examples… I don’t mind loot boxes, they don’t effect the game for me and I couldn’t care less about them. What I do care about is they spent time, energy and resources on implementing loot boxes, which might I add, give no real added substance to they game (AKA they’re a gimmick) instead of fixing / improving fundamental problems with the game such as the utterly embarrassing Drivatars.
Nobody really asked for Driver Gear either. All the time, energy and resources wasted on that could have gone to trying to make the Auction House and Leagues available at launch but no, instead they thought adding clown costumes was a good idea.
The Homologation system was, in my opinion a good idea but the PI system the Homologation system relies on is still extremely broken meaning the Hommologation system itself in many ways is broken. Lesson here is fix the things that have been broken for the past 10+ years (AKA the PI system) instead of adding in a new system. Fix your broken game first! It’s that simple!
We can’t drag race online anymore… can I ask why? They made the Test Drive mode ridiculously more complicated than it needs to be. I didn’t see anyone requesting it be changed. Did you? They have a very bad habit of showing features in trailers that aern’t in the game such as an animated pit crew. I think it’s misleading. The game launched a buggy. broken mess but oh no! It’s ok guys, we’ve got a clown costume now! Seriously get lost Turn 10!
This is only a small percentage of the few problems of FM7 so far.
I apologize greatly for the rant, but for someone who has been playing the franchise for the past 10 years, since I was 7 years old, it’s been so painful seeing Turn 10, a company I’ve dreamed about working for when I was a kid, turn into what they are now, a company that just doesn’t care about’ it’s fans.
Overall Forza 7’s positives do outweigh the negatives but it’s simply not Forza anymore…
I wish it weren’t so, but they have been “pushing” these new ideas that nobody wants (driver gear, loot crates, etc) and not addressing the core complaints/issues.
It’s definitely something can be overcome, but it will take hitting the PAUSE button, and reading what their fans are saying, and working primarily on those items and connecting with fans providing feedback.
I will continue to love and support Forza, for me it is still the best racing game out there, but it does sadden me at some of the lost potential that leaves you shaking your head.
This sums up exactly how I feel. There’s just so much lost potential.
Turn 10 in my opinion come so close to making the perfect racing game. Forza 7 just backs up my feeling. You have a great physics engine, lot’s of content, great graphics, lots of features and yet they just don’t listen to their fans. If they just listened and stopped this radio silence, the rest would come through but they are just so blinded to see things from a fans point of view.
Take Forza Horizon 3 for example. From FH3 to FM7 we have lost so many features. Few examples include; drone mode, tire lettering on most cars, horizon blueprint, co-op campaign etc… why did we lose them? So we could have a few clown suits and some loot boxes?
Go back to FM2. We lost the ability to paint brake calipers to name one. Go back to FM3 and we’ve lost custom public hoppers. Go back to FM4 and we’ve lost the storefront. Go back to FM6 and we’ve lost the ability to drag race online in private lobbies. The list goes on and on and on.
Turn 10, if by some miracle you do read this, fix the game and bring back features we miss before adding new ones.
The sad part is, I agree with every point you made. Fujimi Kaido is a greatly missed track, although I really didn’t race/drift/do much on it, it would be a FANTASTIC track to do photo shoots/night touge/cruise/race on. Such a shame it hasn’t made a return - but Maple Valley is back, and at this rate we might get Fujimi back by Forza 14? Speaking of content - car count. They say there’s 700 cars…I sure as hell don’t feel like there’s 700. When I go to the dealer, it feels like there’s about the same amount that’s there after every Forza’s life cycle - which it about 550, Maybe 600. That doesn’t help when even some AFFORDABLE sporty cars (in real life) are locked behind some stupid showcases (looking at you Fiesta ST and Dodge Dart (who the hell would spend the time to unlock that FCA piece of crud anyways lol)). On the community side of available content - the storefront. Ever since I first booted up Forza 3, I’ve longed for that feel of elegance and grace (maybe grace? hard to explain lol), from the menus to the brand new cockpit view, it felt damn good! Even with all the Audi shenanigans. The storefront though was a godsend. Such a simple, innovative way for tuners and painters to sell their stuff - in limited quantities even!!! - that it was just a downright brilliant feature. My favorite part being that I could search for whatever for whatever car, no need to CLUMSILY find a car, look though decades of shoddy terrible 2 star, uneven designs, decide to pick the least terrible one because load times are [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] (or just go with factory paint).
Why must we go 3 steps forward and 20 steps back? Why!? Looking at real life examples (car wise just cause) - Chrysler is even worse [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] now because they ignored their previous electrical/whatever other [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] problems they have AND they partnered with Fiat of all people (makes everything even worse reliability wise cause Italian [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]). The only thing they got going for them is general appearance - which is deceptive once you find out about that reliability (which is so depressing, especially with their newer interiors - they really turned the Pacifica and 200 around!). Why would you not fix your problems in the first place before attempting riskier [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]?
Anyways - homoligation (I [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] hate that [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] word!!!). It is unbalanced as all damn hell when I comes to racing against AI. I thought the whole point of it was an even playing field, but if the AI can get a pretty extreme power boost on straights on a evenly upgraded and same car - what the flying hell is the point of the system!? What is the point of career mode!? While I love the idea, its implementation is just crummy at best. And on the dead horse-beaten point of AI - just what the [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]??? They are not the “drivatar” they’re claimed to be and drive like a bunch of mindless possums with a botched drivers license.
The car tier system is also a FANTASIC idea, in theory that is. Now, if it was a bunch of tiers to work through to unlock more cars in an evenly distributed, similar cars in each tier style - that would be an a-ok in my book. How they implemented it is just a fantastic pile of dog bung. Too many cars cluster packed together like a box of honey bunches of oats is all I’m gonna say. Also, WHY THE HELL IS THERE OFF ROAD BUGGYS/TROPHY TRUCKS/ATV’S IN A DAMN ON ROAD MOTORSPORT GAME!?!?!?! [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]
And now the biggest hit I view so far (after the storefront) - test and tune!!! What the flying donkey is this god damn bull melarky here? Why can I not reconfigure my poorly homoligated car to MY STANDARDS and then test and tune the damn thing? Why? Who was the damn clown in charge of that? The biggest kick I got out of Forza 6 was - get this - testing and tuning a car for the leagues (I know, I’m a dork with cars lol). I like chasing times, and I like building cars my way - so why would you take that away from the main fanbase of a racing/motorsport game?
So what do we get in return for all the stuff that the hardcore/guys who post here care about? God damn driver gear and loot crates. What the ever living h-e-double-hockey-sticks is this [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] I get it - Gran Turismo had it. They didn’t make it a main focus on the menu though [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]! It was a TRUE side part of the game for those that thought, hey I want to look like the Stig -or hey, I want to wear Arton Sena’s racing suit (also bonus points to them for honoring such a great person/racer). Loot boxes are a meh so far. Expensive as all hell for the money you put on the higher priced boxes for a [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] return (I don’t car for gear or emblems, only cars). Which is another point - why is there no dedicated car loot box? Seems counter intuitive to me.
I haven’t played online (no Gold and can’t afford it yet due to bills and tools to buy (work as a mechanic)), so can’t speak for it yet, but from what I’ve heard, it’s a downright bowl of nothing soup. No content at all besides crappy homoligation races and ONE NEW A CLASS lobby. What the hell man? That is the biggest part of Forza online - class races, drift, drag, and tag. So far there’s 1/16 of what should be there. Since lobby choices are pretty slim, I’m also assuming there’s no return of a proper vote-to-kick option, which is another [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] thing.
And a shout out to all the PC players - I feel your pain (mostly). I’ve been sort of moving to PC (from Xbox because console limits), and I was thinking of buying 7 and playing on PC. After hearing about the memory leaks (even with 32 gigs of ram!!!) and CTD’s, I am avoiding it like the damn apocalypse. Apex ran great at Ultra even on my mid-high PC, same for the demo, but I can’t trust playing it until I hear it is FIXED FIXED. It is just absolute [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] that PC players are treated like crap these days. (stares at No Mans Sky intensely)
Like you, I agree 100-and-damn-50% more there’s more problems to the game that make my skin crawl, but these are some serious concerns that have been around since launch and even Forza 5 [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]. Overall, it is a decent game, but was it worth the $100 Ultimate with the [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D], unexcusable, mislead info at launch? Hell the [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] no!!! $80 De-lux-e? Heeeelllll NAH! $60? Maybe. As a core game, it’s decent at best. Horizon 3 was better in my eyes as it worked as a package, while this screams mismatched [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]. Maybe it’ll all be fine in a few patches a couple months (year?) down the road like No Mans Sky. Maybe it’ll stay broken and incomplete while fresh bung (car packs) are added. Hopefully it will be fixed though, a series that has been good since the start shouldn’t end in a pile of their own mistakes like this.
Probably just repeating myself and whatnot, but what is bolded hit the nail on the head. They may have been rushed (4k! 700 cars! 4k!), or just got lazy and complacent (something I got drilled on as a Marine 24/7 - complacency leads to mistakes - mistakes leads to death). Either way, the final product at launch is just a [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] show. I feel like the whole basis of this game was to capture the modern 15 year old audience that like cars, but have no concept behind them. Those who only care for the social aspect mostly (hence drivatars) and some sort of pay to win/pay to get some loot system (loot boxes). Although Forza isn’t the first, it’s still something shitty to put into a MOTORSPORT game of all things. Call Of Duty is one thing, but a game that pretty much implies it wants to be sim is another. While I do find the outfits…entertaining…its something that should be more on the side of things and not as a big ass block on the main menu stating in big bold letters “DRIVER GEAR.”
On the topic of nostalgia, I’ve been playing racing games since at least 10 I think (terrible memory ), I absolutely loved Gran Turismo 3 and 4, and still do. When I was younger, I even traded in my silver edition PS2 for a damn Xbox (yes, that original beauty) because of Midtown Madness 3 (loved that game, why it’s not backwards compatible, I don’t know) and Forza. When I played the first Forza, it was something different. No stiff cameras (I was young, so chase view all the time lol), smooth graphics, POINT TO POINT TRACKS OMG (needs a return too!!!), CUSTOMIZATION AND UPGRADES!!! It was a damn dream compared to GT (as a kid). The 2nd (when I finally got a 360 for Christmas), was also great, but annoyed me with locked cars (impatient kid). Still a cool auction house and more awesome upgrades and cars. 3 was a turnaround and a serious look at the elegance of cars and the motorsport itself, loved the feel of that game. 4 was good, bit hazy for me, but good (lots of tag on ACTUAL DAMN TRACKS too, not the friggin open [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] hole on the airport). And from there, only 6 was good so far (Motorsport wise). While nostalgia and expectations are main key here, this series shouldn’t be as bad as this one is. I’m even borderline thinking of getting a PS4 instead for GT Sport because of the bad taste left in my mouth with Forza 7.
Anyways, I’m sorry for the long rant and cursing. I’ve been drinking double/triple shots of Jack on ice and that alone makes typing a chore. Also really makes me speak my mind :/. None of this would’ve happened if I haven’t lost interest in the lack of a game that Forza 7 is (I even bought Minecraft and found that more fun to play!).
Man, totally agree with you, especially on the League play. That was the best part of FM6 in my opinion. I just find myself being so disappointed by all of this.
The latest indignity…You guys might have seen this. I pulled over an A-Class Lambo Countach tune (from FM6) to run in the new A-Class hopper. It came over fine but at 702 PI. Fine, adjust that down. Now I want to test drive it and have been able to test drive anything in singleplayer…and… I can’t!!! I have to upgrade it to S750! I can’t even run the dang thing as A class to tune it! But I can run it in the A Class Hopper! What!!!
I tell you…
I’m really hoping things get better. I’m sure they will to some degree, but there are so many things wrong with this that I don’t know if it will ever be acceptable. I’m even researching GTS on the PS4 for the online play, just to get some sanity in online play. Don’t really know if it would be better or not. But I’m looking!
