This game, man I swear..

I’m seeing a ton of negative reviews and feelings toward this game. At first I thought it was a little unwarranted. I gave T10 the benefit of the doubt. It’s 2017, and entertainment and content is scrutinized because people have expectations instead of hopes, myself included… BUT only for a game coming from a franchise I’ve been supporting for over 10 years. But after playing the game I’m beginning to see why. I took a leap of faith, one I haven’t since Forza 4, and picked up a regular copy a few days after release. Silly me right?

Now for the experience;

-Because I didn’t pre-order the digital copy by this date, by that time, at high tide, on a full moon, I don’t and won’t have access to The Hoonigan cars. But people who are playing Horizon can just buy the pack for a few bucks. On top of that, they show up in the dealership, taunting me…
-We don’t have Fujimi Kaido. AGAIN. But we got that helicopter, sand drifts, and those confetti showers we’ve been asking for since FM5…
-Storefront? What storefront? Oh it’s coming? ok. I’ll wait patiently for content that should have been included at launch.
-So you wanna buy a GTR? nah fam. Gotta buy that ATV thing (another answered prayer from the community) first. Get your “Tier” level up… As if grinding for credits wasn’t enough, now I gotta own cars I don’t even want just to be able to buy the ones I actually want? Sweet.
-Homologation. It’s killed race series and cars in reality, why not introduce it into our new game?! Super great idea. It means nothing. Install Homologation parts onto cars, still destroy the rest of the field. Wanna tandem with a buddy online in a private lobby? Sure, just tell him you’ll keep in touch while you go into the settings to remove all the restrictions so that you can both use the car you want.
-700 cars? YES! But if T10 was honest and forthcoming, they’d have mentioned at the onset, that you must buy/preorder different versions of the game to have access to all of them.
-Loot Crates? NOT GAMBLING. The G word you’re looking for is Gimmicky. They’re in Call of Duty as well but no one cares.
-Wanna tune your car? Insert Dikembe Mutombo waving his finger. Not in T10’s house. They felt it was far too easy to hit ONE button and jump to Test Drive in FM4, so they digressed, and created a maze of steps to reach the practically hidden Test Drive mode. Why do I say it’s hidden? You get an achievement the first time you do it, and you usually get those for doing something special.
-My drivatar, racer avatar thing. I don’t know him, but I don’t like him. He doesn’t stop moving. He feels he’s so important that I have to choose between a new FREE car, or a colorful new race suit for him (so selfish). Here’s a tip T10. Try to see if Microsoft will allow you, to allow the players, to insert their ACTUAL Microsoft Avatars into the game instead?

You’d think thats it… But wait, there’s more. I just don’t have the time. Overall, YES the game looks great. The good can outweigh the bad which is promising. And in the end, It’s refreshing to play a racing game that crashes more than I do, Ba Dah cha!

It’s not.

Wait what

Never confirmed, never mentioned in interviews, never discussed in Twitter conversations with Turn 10 staff.

Consider it a Horizon-only feature unless things change in the next month or so.

It might have it’s upside and downside but Fm7 is still ahead of its competitors. Homologation is the only game in town in GTS which looks like it’s getting much worse reviews from fans and only a lookwarm reception from media. PC2 is way ahead of them at this point.

PC2 is getting neg reviews due to their clean racing system penalizing players that are hit from behind, if they fix this issue then the game would likely receive better ratings.

Almost every single recently released racing game has been disappointing.

All valid points. Nice rant!

Yeah, made for an entertaining read for sure… I would have enjoyed having this guy at the office, especially around “down time”. LOL

As far as I know Auction House is coming, storefront not so much. I’ve not seen it in the menus like the other bits that are yet to be opened up.

I’ll take Dubai over Fujimi Kaido eight days a week.

I’ve grown to like Dubai (particularly in reverse) but Fujimi Kaido is a Tier 5 Legendary track that I guess Turn 10 would add via a Loot Crate at some point at the rate we are going.

Nah, they’ll launch it as DLC, tied to a huge car pack of either Lego cars, or John Deere riding lawn mowers. That way no one will be able to use it online since on six people will by it. True story😂

Either one of those would be more interesting (and probably more varied) than NASCAR.

Dubai is a cool course in its own right, and I like the short layout… But a large number of people, drifters and non drifters love(d) Fujimi Kaido.

Fujimi Kaido just happens to be on my short list of tracks in the series I’d be overjoyed to never see again. Right alongside Long Beach, Rio, and Rally di Positano. But of those four, if I were going to be stuck with one, I’d prefer Fujimi Kaido.

Environment wise, I prefer Dubai. Nice and fresh compared to Fujimi - it was starting to become dull after a while for me.

Playing on PC. Game has some issues but is fun. The only things i’m currently really irritated about are the fact that we are getting punished for playing with our friends in privet lobbies. No bonuses from cars and can’t include AI drivers. No mic options makes online play a miserable experience. The game slows/freezes/CTDs/reboots my computer anytime i use the tuning/upgrade/vinyl/paint sections of the game.

Great review. Nothing we haven’t heard, but it’s nice to have more and more people agreeing on all the negative points of this game.

As I’ve said it 1000000 times, Homologation simply killed the game for me. And I could grow used to it, but the game doesn’t even work for more than 10 minutes to let me figure out a way around it. And also the lack of features present in older Forza’s, the mess that the menu interface is, the obnoxious music, the full-bladder-dance drivatar, the annoying slow-mo with bass drop at the finish line… Yeah, I could get used to this game and enjoy it while I wait for Forza 8. But the thing doesn’t even work…

You guys are cracking me up! I completely agree. I don’t understand the thought process that doesn’t include "building " upon what was in previous games instead of removing basic features.

This homolagation might be ok for me if it wasn’t mandatory. I understand that I can take the time to set up a free play race to be C, B, A… If there was an option to do one or the other. Just not a fan of it.

The test drive thing is horrible to me. Along with drag racing!! It’s getting rediculous the different ways they’ve found to mess that up. Test drive for drag in 6 was annoying with the immediate start and no time shown, but this! The only racing in the game that really requires leaving at a certain rpm and you can’t rev the engine until.AFTER the 1 count!! Really?! Why even put anything drag in the game at this point. This coming from someone that spent most of my time on 6 building and tuning drag cars on the Air Field OPEN AREA!! Even that is gone?!

To many things fixed that weren’t broken along with things put in that don’t make sense.

It’s funny actually like the tuning format in this game. The menu is a mess, but it’s easier to build/tune/races. I don’t drag races, is that the issue your having or is it normal races too?
