This FIXED my stutter on my 144Hz monitor...

Hi all,

I recently bought myself a new monitor, an Iiyama 27 inch / 1ms / 144Hz gaming monitor, previously i had a 27 inch 60Hz monitor. When starting up FM7 i was really excited to see it run at 144Hz, but i came across a really annoying factor, stutter. First thing i did was check the fluidity, in ForzaVista rotating around the car at a steady medium speed, and here i saw two stutters every time when doing a 360 degrees rotation. No matter what i did, like setting all graphic option to the lowest quality, or 60FPS / 60FPS (VSYNC) / FREE… the stutter remained. Even when i quitted the game and setting my monitor to 60Hz didn’t solve the problem, the stutter was always there. Here i was, really disappointed, because i didn’t had this with my other 60Hz monitor, i was beginning to regret buying this 144Hz monitor.

Now today, i stumbled on a setting within the NVIDIA control panel…
If you check the last line at the bottom of the list you’ll see an option (with your monitor’s name) to override the set refresh rate set from within a game.
Normal setting is that it’s controlled by the application… CHANGE that to the other option (Highest available) … (my language is Dutch, but i think this would be an accurate translation).
(think this option wasn’t available on my 60Hz monitor, but it is on my 144Hz)

Look and behold, NO MORE STUTTER whatsoever in the game after changing this option! Finally the background mountains in Dubai doesn’t stutter anymore when turning around the corners uphill. No more stutter when doing a 360 degrees rotation in ForzaVista, all stutters are gone. Playing at (60 FPS (VSYNC)) … FM7 caps this to 72 FPS ingame at 144HZ… but the most imported factor for me is gone… the stutter! Now, for those who are having these kinds of stutter, and don’t mind playing with VSync ON, change this NVIDIA setting and try it out.

Now it’s a real joy the see everything move at a rock solid, silky smooth, no stutter, 72 FPS cap at 144Hz!
It fixed my problem, will it fix yours?

Man, Turn 10 is really pushing it’s luck… doing all these kinds of testing since Sep 29th witch i payed €100 for!
As it turns out… when testing this i was going back and forth with these settings to test, right?.. and then the stutter returned, even with the post above method. Like my previous setting was messed up of some sort, due to all these tests! … So what could i do to bring back the NON stutter environment like it was before?.. like i said in the post above method?

As this is an NVidia settings configuration, i went to it’s “Cache” used by FM7 itself… deleted all the cache files in the following folder…
*C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.ApolloBaseGame_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\Temp\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache*

Before deleting the cache files, I reapplied the “Highest available” refresh monitor setting at the bottom of the NVidia Control panel.

When upon restarting FM7, these files will be recreated… and yes, all stutters are gone once again! Must of been corrupted due to the multiple change.
If for some reason you get the stutter again, reapply “Highest available” refresh monitor setting at the bottom of the NVidia Control panel and delete the cache files, and again there will be no stutter.

To what length one has to go through to make this game visually stable… my god! Compared this to Project Cars 2, where ALL runs silky smooth @144Hz!
