Currently 90% of people use the camera in third person so you may think that it is better to use said camera. If you are trying to equalize the use of the pad versus that of the steering wheel, why are the differences between cameras not equalized?
Where are you getting the numbers from? I use in car view with no wheel, with a wheel. What differences between cameras are you talking about?
For example in the last race of Logitech challenge who used interior camera?
I noticed differences in braking, steering, grip and bunpings
Personally I don’t like third person camera.
Everyone plays as they please, right?
I remember FM7 had multiplayer events with restrictions like “Realistic Damage enabled, Cockpit view required”
Ps:there was never anyone at these events, the first turn was an explosion, half the lobby left
What cameras (multiple choice of two) do you use ingame?
- 1st person with wheel
- 1st person without wheel
- hood camera
- front camera without hood
- 3rd person close
- 3rd person far away
What peripherals do you use?
- Original Xbox controller (360, One, Series S|X)
- Other brands controller (Playstation etc.)
- Wheel only
- Wheel + pedals
- Wheel + pedals + gear shifter
Do you use UDP telemetry?
- Yes
- No
I voted 1st person with wheel and 3rd person far away, because i mostly drive 3rd person but sometimes switch to 1st person with wheel. That is why i also made it multiple choice. Else i voted Xbox Controller and UDP No.
I never said otherwise. Everyone plays how they want. If they asked for a mandatory interior view and I am saying that 90% play in third person, it would be normal for there to be no one. On the other hand, practically in all the races in Forza they destroy you in the first corner. I think you didn’t understand the message of this thread.
Not equalized?
Not sure what that means. I’m fast in both views and enjoy both equally.
I enjoy the cockpit view whenever I can. But in FM, it seems like some cars/situations, in interior view makes the outside world very, very dark. As though the windshield is tinted.
When this happens, I use Chase Far.
According to the pole there are more people that don’t use 3rd person then do.
Also how does it make aNy difference to you?
The pole is useless for me, I use all camera angles.
In car is great for immersion,
without wheel good for seeing dials
Hood great for time trialling
Bumper for when hood is super glossy
Chase cameras when playing more casually
The only reason I use anything other than a chase cam while on controller is to get a flippin’ rearview mirror. Can’t trust the proximity arrows after the last couple updates since they trigger at 1.5 seconds out in the lower classes and will show people on other portions of the circuit if the track regions are close together.
How is toggling a rear mirror on in any camera view NOT an option yet?
Just click the thumb stick down for a split second?
I use hood cam as the interior views are mostly useless without being able to adjust your seating position and a pop out rear view mirror.
Yes, the “look back” button is an option, but with that logic, why bother having a rearview mirror in any view?
Virtual rearview should be available in ALL views, period.

Just click the thumb stick down for a split second?
I always forget that is a button. Unfortunately I want to be able to see the people diving a corner while trying to take the corner myself. Rearview mirror gives that option without changing your view entirely.
Yeah fair enough, it’s not the same but the best weapons have for now
I use a controller and cockpit-with-wheel view so I can see how far the wheel is turning, because chase view makes it difficult to see when and how much steering to apply, especially exiting corners. Some race cars have really restricted views though, so I have to use chase with them.
I also use chase in the first half-lap if I’ve started way back, as it lets you see a bigger picture. Once I’ve cleared the majority, I switch to inside view.
I used to use chase far view until Horizon 2, where the interior view made it seem more realistic and helped me to learn to manual shift. When I did multiplayer in FM6’s Lamborghini race event, chase view was essential and I’ve stuck with it until now.
I play with cockpit-wheel view (same even in FH5). I can’t play in 3rd person: feel too strange to me
i use third person far, just because cockpit view doesnt look right to me. there are too many things blocking my view of the road.
I use interior with wheel in all of my other sim titles except for the Forza entries. Lacks camera/driver positioning and the steering animations are wonky. Never turns past 180 and the arms are too stiff with weird bending at the wrists. Big fan of how GT7 animates the wheel by comparison. If I go interior, it’s the fixed dash without wheel.
That said, hood view allows best sense of depth and surroundings.
Third person’s fine on a controller, not intuitive with a wheel due to the dynamic camera yaw.
