These NASCAR oval races are the best FM experience I’ve had on a wheel to date

Game has gotten better on controller but there is twitchiness at high speeds. A better default speed sensitivity is needed as well the overall steering needs to be smoother and not snap back to centre right away, when trying to do adjustments at high speed near a car at times is hard overall because as soon you let go of the stick car will go straight then when you want to get back in line car takes that split second to long to turn the wheel you just end up hitting the wall or someone else. Gt7 does this very well. Gt7 physics different story.

There’s an adjustable setting called “steering self alignment” under the “advanced controller” tab/screen of the game’s main settings that seems to help with that aspect of steering.

Still not enough

The penalty system and nascar = pain.

I’ve been on Daytona and other fast ovals a few times, I’m riding exactly on my line, other players are riding the whole width of the track, it’s unclear what to expect from them when overtaking. In tight corners often someone from the top lane overdrives into my bottom lane, i.e. THEY turn into me, THEY hit me, and the game gives me a 2-4 second penalty time after time. In order to avoid an accident due to the stupidity of the driver who is flying at me, I even tried to shift even lower, but then the game gives me a penalty for going off the track. Is there any correct algorithm of actions, so that this game does not write me a penalty for nothing? Some car has lost traction and is across the road and you have no option to avoid an accident? Here’s another fine, mate. I think for each race mode in this game it’s necessary to make some kind of tutorial intro, so that people at least have a basic understanding of where and how to go. Regardless of skill level and safety rating, there are usually 5 people who drive well on the track, the rest are potentially life-threatening…and I hope they ever finalise this penalty system and it stops penalising people who had no involvement at all in the track incident every time.

The NASCAR is more fun than I expected. But I’m often being hit with penalties from AI hitting me.

And the AI were still even are doing that “turn into the side of my car” thing… on high speed banked turns. Worst place. Why?

It’s a lawless & savage wasteland.

A couple days ago in the featured NASCAR multiplayer lobby, I was constantly stuck behind a swerving blocker who refused to let me pass for the entire race.
…4 problems with that:
1. I was penalized once when they swerved into me to stop me from passing.
2. On one of my passing attempts, they pushed me into a wall, setting me way back - so they benefited from driving dirty.
3. They had accumulated 11.85 seconds of penalties across many incidents, but the game allowed them to continue ruining the race for others instead disqualifying them.
4. It stinks that matchmaking would put someone with my good safety rating in the same lobby with another driver who is so blatantly unsafe.

I did the requisite number of races to complete the NASCAR Challenge Hub task, and I will not be doing any more NASCAR races.

Weekend “fun” was lacking last night in NASCAR. 5 races, didn’t finish one, either nerfed off by people needing to win on the 1st lap instead of letting things settle or just outright blown away by speed. I have no idea what is happening with these cars tbh, since last weekend seems many have found a way to make all 3 cars rocket ships while any tune I try is left standing after a lap or 2.
Eagle Rock was the equaliser last week, had some very good racing but it’s got the daft chicane included this weekend & it was just a recipe for carnage, not an enjoyable experience tbh.
Public custom lobbies need to be a thing again on Forza Motorsport.

Yes, the default settings of the car will not allow you to achieve high performance. To compete you need different car settings for different configurations of ovals and other circuits.
…but no matter how fast you are, you are still likely to be killed by other players and you will find yourself behind everyone) Even if I set the best lap time in practice and qualifying, started first on the track, then in the first turns people behind me just took me off the track. It’s very important for them to overtake you, no matter what the cost.

I started to notice that at the finish line, the leaders of the race are more often not those who were there at the start of the race, but those who started without qualifying and behind everyone, because it’s safer. Half of the players themselves will die during the race, the rest, if you are fast, can be caught up with enough laps.

I’ve tried numerous tunes for all 3 cars, just can’t live with certain others on Daytona where it’s flat out all the way, they just seem to keep gapping me while I’m in their slipstream with my foot planted on the pedal. :man_shrugging:

To be efficient at Daytona, you need to completely remove aerodynamics and set 5th gear so that in the corner and on the straight you are as close to the car’s power peak as possible (I determine this from telemetry), then your normal speed will be around ~225-227 on corner exit, ~335 on corner entry, in the airflow you can accelerate to ~340. You can still make suspension changes to gain tenths/hundredths of a lap, but to move at the same pace as the other players, it may be enough.

ps: None of the race leaders at the start - didn’t survive by the end of the race.

I found a great tune for the Chevy by GT: Swe for Homestead, had a great 40 lapper earlier, was leading, got nerfed by a back marker around lap 18, pitted, fought back to 2nd, saved replay, download successful, looked forward to seeing it & take some pics, nothing there. :disappointed:

I’m exactly the same. They just leave me standing and I’ve tried so many different tune but I can’t get near those rocket ship cars. Totally spoils it for me. Wish nascars were standard for everyone. If you’re not a good tuner you don’t stand a chance. Think 9th is my best finish

Look for tunes on all 3 cars by GT: Swe for the ovals. Found him this weekend, been a game changer for me, can actually keep up with the lead times now without feeling like the car is about to crash at any moment.

Thanks I’ll try that

Sorry bit blurry but I came second with that new tune

These NASCAR oval races are the worst FM experience I’ve had.

One race out of many, if you’re lucky, will go smoothly. Players deliberately push you out, turn you round. They do whatever they want and don’t get penalised for it. I can’t even count the number of times another player has pushed me into the wall because I overtook him. Even if I’m riding in the top 3, where it seems like there should be adequate players, but no, at every corner they more often than not try to nudge you in the rear bumper and send you spinning around the track, and the game gives no penalties for it. But even if she did, what difference would it make? To me, the race is ruined and the player with the penalty doesn’t care about that because the game connects everyone to everyone, apparently. Total rubbish. The ghost system doesn’t work correctly either. I catch up with a player ahead of him by a lap, he is transparent in front of me. I’m sure I’m going round the corner through him, and I get a FINE. WT Forza?! With a player selection system like this, where safety rating means NOTHING, it’s impossible to compete with anyone. What’s the point of an S rating if I’m being joined by players who just HAVE to bash you into a wall?! For what?! After that I will be in last place with no chance of catching up, and most likely the game will penalise me rather than the person who is guilty of misbehaviour. What’s the point of a race like this anyway!? There’s a Flatout for that kind of expirience.

Yeah I’ve had 3 races in a row ruined tonight, not good. You do your best to get upfront in qualy, Eagle Rock I was having a great battle for 1st with someone for nearly 18 laps & that person got deliberately took out by a back maker waiting to do it then tried to do me. I was taken out on lap 37 of a 45 lap race while leading in a full lobby. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
Last one I qualified 2nd on Indy which I love racing these on, spun out in the 1st corner.
I do love this kind of racing, something I can actually compete with the fast guys & it’s great with a wheel, just so frustrating that you have to be paired with idiots.
I sound like a broken record but custom public lobbies would fix this instantly.
