First thing I remembered was the shortcut, that I still had it. I went looking in the Xbox, in the store, everywhere - nothing showed up at all. I bought it in the last-minute discount, the complete bundle version. Either way it’s not great that something purchased can be made difficult to find.
Only going to respond this one time because this should probably be in the FH5 complaints topic.
Because there’s more than just “its the same as FH4” that’s the problem with FH5. Even the stuff it copied from FH4 is just done worse. For example backstage passes, arcades where people actually join to complete them, free roam multiplayer that isn’t functionally broken, etc. About the only things FH5 improved on is the engine sounds and handling. I also am talking about the final/current versions of the games when I talk about them. As if you were to pick them up today.
Old FHs also had the game exploits that would break leaderboards. Multiplayer racing in FH3 is actually the weirdest online racing ever (based on xp gained). Cheats exist because it’s on PC, so FH3 was/is also susceptible to this. There’s also still bugs in FH5 that break the game that existed in FH3 that have never been fixed. I forget the error code but you probably know which one I’m talking about, makes it so the game will never launch unless you completely reinstall windows. That’s not a bug from FH4 or 5, it’s from 3. IIRC FH3 was basically unplayable at launch on PC. Sloppiness didn’t start with 4, unfortunately.
I wont deny that the map in FH4 is great and I also love the fact that seasons exist, especially fall and winter. They’re beautiful and the different conditions really enhance the replayability. I’ll also agree that some aspects of FH4 are just as soulless of FH5. However the point I was making wasn’t that I think FH4 is the best FH. I was saying that FH4 is unfairly dismissed while FH2 and FH3 aren’t perfect either. The flaws of those games get overlooked even though they’re actually the same game, with arguably less content, on a different map. And if you asked me to start over on any FH, I’d go with FH1 first because it’s the best by a long shot. Then I’d go with either FH4 or FH3 depending on my mood. Edit: Also to defend FH2, if you asked me which map I’d like to go back to, it would be FH2 (but in a different game without roadtrips).
2 words can sum up a large part of why some people like myself dismiss 4.
Live service.
I despise the way almost every dev (especially triple-A’s) that opts for it exploits it and uses it as an excuse to remove content for later and for what is almost always a poor launch state.
I hold less animosity towards 5 despite it being worse than 4 because it didn’t lay that ugly foundation that the series may never get rid of now.
In all but a few cases live service to me is what a bad or lazy developer would go for when they have either no idea or no confidence in how to make an engaging game that people would come back to regularly on it’s own merits.
There’s 3 games before FH4 that prove PG + FH are much better than that, the series is way too good to ever need that rubbish to flourish and however much I enjoy other aspects of 4 + 5 + future entries just the live service being there will always leave a bad taste in the mouth for me.
@CeeJay3510 couldn’t agree more I was really hoping with the 10 year anniversary they’d have atleast had them go on sale for the 1 week that the game was the focus so fh1 on week on Fh2 on week 2 etc as a last ditch attempt for players to acquire them the way the anniversary series was hyped up it would’ve been a great celebration such a huge tragedy that it wasn’t done
I was hoping for that 4k upgrade for FH2 so you could at least play all the FH games at 4k…1st one check, 3rd, 4th and 5th ones…check. Not 2. FH2 is the one I spent the least amount of time with, a 4K patch would have made me want to give it some love.
I personally don’t get stuff like this, nothing about FH2 would be any different in 4k, the cars, the map, the physics, the races + championships, the online etc will still remain exactly the same.
I just can’t see the sense or logic behind a tiny upgrade to an already good looking game being the defining factor on whether someone plays it or not.
I have problem with FH2 too but it’s about playing in 30 FPS I wish PGG upgraded this game for Xbox One X… (the same applies to DriveClub on PlayStation).
The step up to 4k cleans up a lot of the visual softness you get with 1080p (or less) games when displayed on a 4k display, which becomes more of a thing as your screen sizes increase. 65" or a 110" Projected Screen, you will notice a big visual change going from 1080p native to 1440p or 4k native even if all the other assets and the framerate stays the same.
A jump to 60fps would have been nice but most people don’t realize that hitting 60fps from 30fps is kind of a significant ask on xbox, and I get where they didn’t want to devote resources or time QA testing all the possible scenarios that might cause the game to run poorly or below 60fps because the game was no longer available for sale, meaning it would be investing in something that would never, ever make the company a dime back in potential profit.

“I still don’t understand why some americans PEOPLE can’t understand that seasons are different in different parts of planet. Most SOME americans PEOPLE can’t even understand how in Australia it’s winter in June/July. And they probably could only live in north during spring and autumn because during summer they couldn’t sleep and winter is too dark.”
I stopped bothering with him a while back. He’s on ignore for me. Seeing your edit, I’m not missing much…lol.
…I’ve seen Twitter bots that were more realistic than this post.
Daft question if i purchase a ultimate edition of horizon 3 wojld the car pack or blizzard mountain load ?
If the codes that should come with it are unused, I don’t see why not. I don’t think those keys expire for quite some time.
FH3 Ultimate Edition doesn’t include expansions (Blizzard Mountain and Hot Wheels).
Unfortunately…
Btw, if you paid even minimal amount of attention in school prepare to feel like you’re genius.

Oh, the irony.
Thats true, But FH4s life was not nearly as dead as 5. As you might have seen in other threads. I have basically felt like I’ve been playing in an empty world most of the time in the past year. Rarely more than a half dozen people in the most populated areas like the Volcano run. Traffic is very few and sparse. That as well as the general dev attention and the lack of a coherent online racing scene. The game feels dead where 4 had life well into 2 years after launch.
We’re still none the wiser as to why they changed the way that works in this game and like you say it makes the world feel empty, it worked fine in FH4 and didn’t need fiddling with.
Though I will say I hit the HOF on an alt earlier today, went over to the HOF leaderboard and my alt was ranked at just over 4 millionth, not great relative to their 20 million players boast but I won’t lie that is a far higher number than I’d have ever guessed had played enough to get that far, doesn’t mean there’s a huge amount playing now I know though.
And honestly we’ll never know for certain but maybe this game losing players quicker can be attributed in part to people just getting burnt out on the series or the repetition of the playlist, I mean between FH4 + 5 we’ve been in this cycle of weekly seasons + 4 week series for over 200 weeks in total now, more and more players are bound to just get tired the longer any series keeps relying almost solely on the exact same formula for getting players to come back regularly.
