The reverby and echoey car sound modelling has to go

I hate it. Just hate it. Nearly every car in the game sounds like it’s coming out of a distant bathtub or tunnel.

Why is there echo and reverb in every car sound, especially as you move to cockpit view? It sounds like there’s no insulation or sound deadening in the cockpit and I’m driving in a bathtub?

7.1 system here fully tuned for gaming and movies, reasonably powerful! I’m disappointed with the sound in this game after they did such amazing things in FM5, 6 and FH5

Have you watched a replay? It gives me headaches the drone is so bad.

One of the big features they promoted before the game’s release was that the new FM would include 3D sound.

And they got drunk on it. Went totally overboard.

So now you watch a replay of a race in yhe open air like Road America or something, and it sounds like you’re in the Monaco F1 tunnel.

Everything is a constant droooooooone. Gear shifts are muffled, every sound just melts into each other into just incoherent noise.

Stand next to a race track IRL and sure it is loud but it is crisp!

You nailed it man, absolutely nailed it!!

It’s the droney sounds that give me a real headache and put me to sleep at the same time when my car is revving.

I’m just mad right now about the way they handled a lot of aspects with the game - they seem to be on to something really good with FM7 and now it suddenly feels as if they made the first Forza game ever, full of glitches and missteps.

Well, you live and you learn. Pretty sure I’m never preordering any of their games in future. You build a car game (from the ground up allegedly) and then you massacre the sound stage with effects mixing and distorting into each other and cars sounding like hopped up vacuum cleaners in a tunnel or stadium?

Unacceptable!!!

The worst is if you drive under the bridge on Maple Valley, it’s hilarious how EXTREMELY it echoes.

There’s variety of mixing issues from what I understand. There’s mixing issues with the car sounds, of course, and there’s some mixing issues with the environment too as I remember FM5’s reverb effects being very clear, distinct and almost making me jump when going through a tunnel for example, as it felt so real and never overdone.

The sounds start bunching up in FM23 and the end result is distortion. Things are just not clear and distinct, with appropriate levels of loudness like they are on a 5.1/7.1 soundtrack in a game or movie that has been mastered really well in Dolby surround, for example.

Forza hasn’t apparently. The way the car sounds are coming out of my speakers just make me go “nahhh, there are better sounding racing games on the Xbox that I’d rather play”

I play it with a 7.1 PCM sound system in 24 Bit at 192 KHZ 2 large standing speakers and 5 “shelf speakers” that are also full spectrum speakers.

2 of these Teufel Ultima 40 Mk3 200 watts each

4 of these Teufel Ultima 20 Mk2 80 watts each

1 of them Teufel Ultima 20/40 Center Mk3 65 watts

And 2 Yamaha subwoofers. All connected to a DENON AVR-X1700H DAB.

And oh boy i can hear all the weirdness of the game.

It just occurred to me that the maple valley bridge is the only “tunnel” in the entire game.

Yes but it’s not even a real tunnel, but it sounds like one.

That’s how i feel while passing the tunnel of Maple Valley

Literally all of V12 Ferrari sound the same ! Jesus. What a disgrace.
Built from the ground up. Experience next gen degradation! They have buried this game and the reputation with it.

The Laferrari, FXX-K, FXX-K Evo, Monza SP1/2, Daytona SP3, 599 GTO, 599XX Evo, all use the same engine and sound the same IRL. The F50, and F50 GT use the 640 engine block. Don’t know about the 333 SP, but it’s always sounded similar to the F50 GT.

The Veneno, Sian, Aventador, SV, SVJ, Centenario, new 2020+ Countach all use the same engine, and sound the same. Thats been the case since FH3.

That being said, the LP-670 is appalling.

FM7’s Vulcan is more accurate than FM3’s Vulcan. FM ‘23’s Vulcan is terrible.

All of the V12’s in this game are either correct but synthetic, or completely wrong. I have no clue why they don’t share information between FH5 and this game. They tried and failed with the Essenza SCV12’s updated sound for some reason.

There are too many car sounds that need to be fixed and not enough time for T10. This game is chalked.

I was pretty disappointed to hear the Murcielago sounding like an Aventador… It’s like somebody went “well a V12 Lambo is a V12 Lambo” and threw on a sound they already had.

The problem is them using reverby, synthetic, droney, and robotic sounds coming out of a software program.

With their budget, what’s stopping them from taking cars to an empty track, putting them under load and recording the individual sounds? For the upgrades sounds, they can just replicate those from YT. How difficult than that be? It’s a lack of initiative I think.

FH5 has so much depth and nuance to the sound - they sound like REAL cars and it’s easily one of the best sounding open road racing games on any console.

Shame on your T10, really, for giving us such half baked sounds and prolly thinking no one would pick up on them!

They’re borderline terrible and need to be upgraded one by one immediately

Maybe you should get your ears checked, they DON’T sound the same. The Ferraris i mean.

Yeah sure some of the cars don’t sound great, they have to fix a lot of engine sounds. But they can do that later, after the game works as intended, stability and performance should have highest priority atm. Well we can only hope they work on all things at the same time.

I do have Dolby Atmos enabled, I use headphones :headphones: that supports Dolby Atmos and it’s exactly like that video. Mostly of the cars sound wrong. Go listen to the Audi 90 GTO IMSA in YouTube then on Forza. Give me your feedback

Yes sure the first few sound the same, probably because they have the SAME ENGINE, why should the engine sound different if it’s the same? The older models all sound different.

Engine is one side of it, exhaust material and design is another. I’m not “in the know” on how identical or different the exhaust systems are on these cars, but if they aren’t identical they won’t sound the same.

Cars can have the same engine but there is something called Exhaust and they do have different sounds ! Don’t they ? You can have a V8 car sounding different with different exhaust

I can only repeat what i already said, the game has bigger problems than exhaust sounds atm.

I mean what should they do, just make up different sounds so they sound a tiny bit different? Or you expect them to record all these cars IRL, because they have different exhaust systems? I mean that is nuts. There are 500+ cars in the game, they can’t record every single one of them.
