The Gauntlet: An A class farewell (or 100 farewells to be exact)

I have been working on this since before Christmas, I have pretty much exhausted all I can do on the Gauntlet in every class with A being the last one, so I thought why not do something completely ridiculous for my very last time with my favourite course in this and possibly any FH game?

No particular criteria for the chosen cars other than they couldn’t be any of the usual stuff or anything that already has an entry very high up on the leaderboard already, if I thought they looked any one out of fun, interesting, unusual, funny or plain stupid they were put on the list, 18 of the cars are from a previous smaller test I did where the fastest was the DeLorean with Kapien’s tune hence it is why it appears twice in the list, I also elected to use a minimum of 2 cars from all the weekly tuners on the forum.

I tried my best to stop the Unimog finishing bottom by such a huge margin but even the awfulness of the Barbie Corvette couldn’t match it lol.

And that’s it, there is no more I can do with this brilliant course, it has left me with many many great cars/tunes and many of the ones in this list will be staying for future use.

If you have read all of this firstly I hope you discover a car + tune combination to enjoy + use for yourself here, if just 1 person does so it’s made the whole endeavour worthwhile.

That was… brutal. LOL !

Just a fwiw sharing…

My own garbage tune, unfinished, from ages ago, because it was there. And first time running Gauntlet in just about as long. I don’t remember the Unimog being THAT unstable.

Went over center of gravity first time about 11% in, landed on wheels, facing wrong way, but managed a snap j-turn and kept ahead of pack. Second over-cog was similar but pack was on my heels from the first and between the collisions and checkpoint miss I was in last and never recovered. Was gaining on the descent side but not enough. Total 5 or 6 times over-cog, only 1 turtle though. Uncounted times on two wheels, lots ! And 3 check point miss penalties. Finish time an embarrassing 27:09:863

…grrr. I might have to go again sometime. There’s got to be a way to tame the tip. Maybe a drift tune ? It seemed to be better when I could break the back end for tight turns and slide through.

EDIT P.S. That was weird. Was that weird ? Just ran the end cutscene and it said Winner and had me center podium but natter boy said the usual “let’s go again” thing for not winning. I’m confused :laughing:

I admire your dedication!! I would have struggled to complete runs with 10 vehicles, let alone 100.

The Unimog could have been somebody without the roll overs.:grin:
Tempting to try to build one that doesn’t roll over. If I remember correctly, less grippy tires are less likely to cause roll overs.

Part 2 - The Sliding - Just another fwiw, you made me do it sir ! :wink:

Quick and dirty rebuild (not shared) shaved 2 minutes (better tuner and driver could do better I’m sure) and (almost :wink: ) zero roll overs ! Got distracted on descent at about 74% and tipped on a curve. Before and after that only up on two wheels once and never close to tipping anywhere else. Might be something in it with some tweaks and fine tuning. Don’t think had access to the tire profiles before and went for huge meats and heaviest wheels to drop the cog, seemed to work. And gripless tires. Yeah, lot of Ultimate Drift skills were happening :laughing:

I assume that is a time with rolling over, right?
Gave it a try with my own tune and did 21:30 with no falling over, but very drifty run. IDK, maybe I had no issues due to it being so slippery.
PS. (to everyone that don’t know) remember to use sim steering, that reduces falling over.

I thought something had to be wrong, I used the Unimog in that Trucks trial we had ages ago and that only rolled when I was really silly with it, with that tune it was pretty much even slightly unsettled = going over.

I’m on normal steering as well so another contributing factor there.

Definitely going to check a few of these tunes out, although setting times anywhere near @TheGillesMuller will be impossible :smiley:
