These are just what I own, I haven’t any others to compare. Could be that the colors are just a bit too vibrant in general.
I have 2 professionally calibrated LG G3 TVs. The colors are a bit too vibrant on both in HDR10. These sets are calibrated to D65 white. I understand that this needs to be balanced to look good on all displays, but I think that you’re putting a bit too much effort into making it look good on lesser quality ones. Both displays are set to Filmmaker mode with custom settings for video games only ( I don’t use my consoles for streaming ). This means that the white point is set to 4000 and black to 0. Dynamic tone mapping enabled. This happens whether I set the game to default HDR settings or setting black point to 0. It doesn’t look natural at all. GT7 does not have this issue. None of my PS5 games do. It’s a bit insulting that Xbox games and/or system are tuned in a way that doesn’t jive well with one of the best displays on the market.
Now, I could just reduce the saturation level, but that doesn’t really seem like the right solution on a calibrated display. Something is off in how the xbox is sending HDR. I have noticed in several games that the Xbox versions are just too saturated. Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, Guardians of the Galaxy and GTA V have all been compared over here.
Oh yeah, both consoles set to 60hz mode and running HDR10( Xbox Dolby Vision just doesn’t cut it). I see little value in 120hz at this time. The displays report that they’re getting the full HDMI bandwidth as well.
I know this seems like more of an Xbox problem than a Motorsport one, but these are my findings and I know of no other way to contact the Xbox team that gets results.
