I have a 1440p 165hz g sync monitor that cannot currently run Forza unless I decrease the refresh rate to 144hz in the nvidia control panel. The game completely crashes immediately after the Ford GT loading screen when I attempt to play at a 165hz refresh rate.
In the Nvidia Control Panel, have you tried changing the “Preferred Refresh Rate” setting to [Application-Controlled]? I believe the default is [Highest Possible].
The setting is found in the Global tab of the advanced settings. Some games don’t behave correctly when you override their refresh rates.
I would be more focused on the devs working out that horrible stutter problem. I have a 144hz gsync monitor, and even at 144hz gives me a headache and nausea after a couple races, despite running a solid 90-120fps.
That’s because the game forces a refresh rate instead of using the framerate as the refresh rate, this way GSync would work in Forza 6 Apex.
I hope they don’t make this mistake for Forza Horizon 3.
Even with GSync enabled for windowed apps, Forza is the only UWP game that forces 144Hz on my screen, when Gears, Quantum Break and other UWP game can use GSync.
