So the title explains it all, none of the options do anything I’m always constantly on 72 fps with my 144 Hz monitor. I’ve tried restarting the game after picking a option but that doesn’t do anything. I do have the required Windows 10 update which was mentioned in the patch notes, my current windows 10 version is 10586.318.
I’m willing to bet you have a monitor with variable refresh capabilities (i.e. Freesync or G-sync). The 72 Hz is what the monitor will drop to (half of 144 Hz) since your videocard isn’t capable of rendering the game at 144 fps. At least that how it worked prior to the “unlocked” option. I don’t know if that really unlocks the framerate interally (Forza’s engine is apparently internally rendered at 60 fps regardless of setting) since the latest update seems to have broken G-sync on my system (only for this game - G-sync still functions 100% on the other stuff that supports it).
Nope my monitor doesn’t have freesync or g-sync. My system should be able to reach 144 fps just fine. I even lowered the settings to low and ran it at 720p yet I never got above 72 fps with the unlocked option enabled.
My specs are
i5 4670K @ 4.6 GHz
GTX 970 (1530Mhz core, 1851Mhz memory)
16GB of RAM.
If you’ve got any form of double buffering enabled it can do this. My system is similar to yours except my skylake CPU and my ultrawide monitor only runs to 75Hz. I need to go check what it runs to. I’ll be back…
EDIT: I’m Back! My game runs fine at 75Hz clocking in at 75FPS solid. If you can’t rach 144FPS your monitor is likely just dropping you to 72Hz, maybe the game doesn’t support 144Hz because it’s an Xbox port?
They said the game supports unlocked fps so it should support 144Hz unless they are lying.
Once again my system could easily reach 144 fps.
What are you all using to check framerates?
Dxtory. It’s a free download to run the trial;
Thanks.
Yes, but double buffering can halve your framerate regardless of monitor capability. Check in your GFX cards control panel to make sure you’re not running a setting that forces double buffer.
Double buffering isn’t enabled.
Is V-Sync enabled? Try turning it off and see what happens.
In the gpu control panel? no.
