165Hz Monitors Cause Game to Crash

Ok I can launch the game but cant go into a race if my monitor is set to 165hz. I have to set it down to 144 or below. Can you please fix this?

I have the same problem. Lowering the refresh rate fixes it, but the solution isn’t optimal.

Are you guys getting TDR’s when running at native hz?

You have checked your monitor drivers yes?

Guys, I have a PG279Q, one of the two 165hz monitors I know about, and with this one at least(not sure about the Acer but its likely as it uses the same panel and Gsync module), 165hz is POINTLESS. The response time of your monitor goes up at 165hz vs 144hz, and makes your games in motion look blurrier/worse. Kinda negates the point of the extra HZ in the first place. If you want proof, check this review out: Asus ROG Swift PG279Q Review - TFT Central

The ‘overclocking’ and ‘conclusion’ sections verify what I am saying. So while it is unfortunate that Forza crashes at 165hz, you might want to set your panels to 144hz anyway. As it is functionally better.

Thanks for reporting this. Can you please add your DXDIAG output here so we can analyze? Also, if you could include your precise monitor model number as well, that would be helpful.

Thanks,
Brian

Oh, this is good to know. I’ve been trying to play this game but it’s also crashing to desktop for me. I have an Acer XB271HU running at 165Hz.

Update: I tried going down to 144Hz and the game runs as expected. I have an i7-6700K @ 4.6GHz, 16GB Corsair Vengeance (3000), a Hero VIII, and a 980 Ti (if that helps).
