Support ending in August 2019 - but WHY?

“One of the biggest things we’ve been running into on all sides - car production, track production, and of course gameplay - is the core problem around shipping a real current live game and making sure it is ready for the public, and investing in things that will help us for the next product. It’s all about speed for us, for a lot of purposes, to get to the next game. Something that I don’t think most people appreciate about the production for games that are in a live environment, that are actually in release to the public is that there is a massive overhead to getting it to the public. We can’t just code something and fire it out, we go through a ton of process for release. Basically it adds an overhead of from anywhere between 30-60% of our time, just goes to shipping this stuff. So when we’re looking at any of this development right now - shipping a track or shipping a car or even nuances to FRR - all of that work which is normally there - and we’re using all of this stuff for the next game - there’s a good 30-60% of time shipping it to FM7 which could be used to help develop a better game in the future. So we’re looking across all the studio and thinking, well, we could either continue this with FM7 and have 30-60% less of a game when we come out next time or we can start pushing all of that effort diirectly to the next product. … So we’re really going to go all in for the next product at this point .” and FM7 will have its final major content update in August.

These two lines stuck out like a sore thumb to me. I’ve heard this all before when they were releasing FM7. Sadly they bailed on FM6 in a far better state then they have FM7, there still were some bugs from release date and their attempt at thwarting corner cutting by random tire walls was laughable at best, but they are leaving FM7 in a far worse state. They gave FM6 two new tracks and two expansions before they slipped out. For FM7 at least they gave us Race Regulations where I spend most of my time on Forza 7.

So best of luck with your Forza Motorsports 7-2.0 project Turn 10., I’ll just stick with FM7 and FM6 from here on in. I’m not to interested in buying a new console and these two game will more than suffice for my racing needs.

AGREED, We all know they are going to try and release F8 as a release title for the newer generation, which means they will have a strict deadline to meet, and with the gaming business we all know that many developers just can’t seem to get things right on these deadlines. We have accepted 9/10ths games or less for years because they know they can improve and implement updates through patches and what not. I honestly can’t remember the last game I bought that felt 10/10ths, even if the game is great a couple weeks or month later they come out with fully polished DLC you had to pay extra for? this practice is sickening. But business is Business and we the consumer keep purchasing season passes so why wouldn’t they grab what they can from us.
