Im in B class, Ive tried many FWDs and cant figure out a consistent way to tune out the wheel-spin on them during corner-exit-acceleration. I can make an impact but Ive seen FWDs that look like theres almost zero wheel-spin. Id like some advice on how to go about eliminating this as Im not sure what to really be doing, Im just wingin’ it here but finding little-to-no results that Ive noticed. I have read many threads on tuning and watched many how-tos on Youtube. However, Im still unable to abuse that information to narrow down what my choices are or whats really being effective. Perhaps I just need to keep reading and testing things.
I run a controller, manual w/ clutch, swapped buttons for easy shifts, in case thats important. If you need my build or tune, I will post that but not next to my Xbox at the moment
you need higher rear springs than the front to prevent front end lift, also accel diff around 70-100%, aero max in front and avoid turbos if you can as the torque will unbalance the front end…i go centrigrugal supercharger if possible hope this helps
Watch Raceboy’s latest video on driving FWD cars. Though it’s focused on driving them, I think it may give you some insight on tuning them as well. The gearing is important and his tecnique may help you improve your tunes.
Tuning a FWD car will only help so much, almost all of it is in driving. I don’t put transmissions in them unless a sport is needed for top end, just gear selection is important if you’re struggling with throttle control. Check out my vid if you’d like and thanks Mako for the mention :). Front Wheel Drive Tips (Forza Tips) - YouTube
could always decrease the tire pressure on the front tires. I’ve been having to do this on all my cars with my new steering wheel and in my Fiat 500. I finally got the wheel spin to go away.
Raise the accel diff. It should be above 65-70% in FWD. A tight diff ensures that both tyres are doing work to get the power down. If you flat out have more power than grip then you need to either use fine throttle control or exchange rubber for some of those horses. You can’t use more front grip than you actually have, and if half of that grip is being used for turning …
Thanks for all the replies, Ive been taking time to thoroughly try all the suggestions. Im pretty sure Ive narrowed it down to my driving and lack of a wheel/pedals.
All the suggested tuning options has only made the car slower (IMHO) when compared to my base tuning:
27.0 Front pressure (Subject to change, of course)
27.5 Rear pressure (Subject to change, of course)
1.5 F camber (Changes based on telemetry)
1.0 R camber (Changes based on telemetry)
Adjust gearing according to build/track
Front aero max, rear aero at 100 or stock
Diff is always changing based on track
So, either Ive hit a plateau with the controller when it comes to FWDs orrrrrr Im not able to abuse the tuning methods offered in this thread because of my driving style. Either way, I will continue to test and work off the tips offered here.
It actually depends on the car itself mostly too. A car like the Honda CRX is a nightmare. Lightweight, with aerodynamic lift in the front. It can’t be tuned in anything above C class probably.
